Chapter 59 - Not The End

The creature collapsed beside its companion that Kiah had already slain.

Watching the scene, a humorless laugh almost escaped Kiah. Anwyll had taken down the thrasher in just two swings. Two. Without breaking a sweat. Meanwhile, she had nearly died trying to kill it.

Finally letting out a shaky breath, Kiah dropped to her knees, the full weight of her injuries hitting all at once. Her body screamed in protest, every nerve on fire.

"Are you okay?" Anwyll's voice broke the silence of the quiet night.

"I'll survive."

He studied her for a moment before looking at the destruction around them.

Kiah's fight had wrecked a few buildings, but thankfully, the damage didn't look beyond repair.

"You held well on your own. I'm proud of you."

Kiah was leaning against the nearest wall she could find, catching her breath. At his words, she shot him a small glare. She couldn't care less if he was proud or not. He had been late.

Anwyll easily picked up on her irritation.
