Chapter 49 - The Quiet Watch

The wind rushed past Kiah's face, leaving a trail of dew in her eyes as she sprinted from rooftop to rooftop, scanning for any signs of degenerates. The streets below remained eerily quiet.

Above her, the night sky was clear. The aurora shimmered brightly, casting an ethereal glow across the Hold — likely due to the absence of dust and smoke for once. Even the stars seemed to burn more brightly tonight.

She had been running and leaping for over thirty minutes, yet she wasn't even out of breath. Not a drop of sweat clung to her skin. It seemed that all that brutal training had finally paid off.

Kiah turned and scouted the area once more before landing on the tallest roof she could find, her cloak flaring behind her in the breeze like something out of a comic book.

"Brownie was right. I do feel cooler with this on." She muttered. But she wasn't ever going to tell him that.
