Facing the gazes that he was receiving around him, the person who had just spoken did not panic at all. Instead, he continued looking at Bob, hoping that he would leave.
Bob was curious about what this guy wanted to do. But since the other party did not seem to be lying from his expression, Bob simply shook his head and decided to leave. He was hungry anyway, and was not having any intention of wasting his time here.
The group immediately parted, allowing Bob to go through. Despite the many questions that they had, they did not take any action against Bob, but instead, they gazed at the person who had allowed Bob to leave.
This person was the leader of the group, a level 3 soldier. And since he had made the decision, the others would have to follow. Despite being dissatisfied by the decision that he had made, they would not directly go against him, unless he went against their interests.
"Boss, why did you let that kid go? That was a big fish. The amount of star coins that he spent would have enabled us to purchase quite a lot of things. And more than that, I'm pretty sure that he has more star coins with him." One of the men commented.
While the others did not say anything, they still looked at the leader of the group, wanting answers. Even the one that had been stalking Bob all the way came over, also wondering what had happened.
Facing the curious gazes that he was receiving from the group, the leader of the group did not respond immediately. Instead, he looked towards the direction that Bob had disappeared to, before he let out a sigh of relief.
"Are you guys idiots? Let me ask you, can anyone of you tell the power level of that kid? I can't see through him, and he is definitely not an unawakened, considering that he can easily carry that spear with him." The leader of the group stated.
It was only when the leader had said those words that the others suddenly realized something that did not make any sense. In normal occasions, they were capable of telling the power level of any opponent that they targeted. But this time, none of them could actually tell the power level of the kid, even though he was already an awakened.
Previously, they did not think too much about it. But now, they realized that something was completely wrong!
It was Impossible for him to be an unawakened, considering that he could carry the spear with him. That spear was so heavy that an ordinary kid would definitely not be capable of carrying it around, especially not with such ease.
Looking at the faces around him that seemed to have come to a realization, the leader of the group snorted. He then looked at the one who had brought them over and said, "Next time that you select a prey, make sure that you can see through their power level. Otherwise, you are going to land us in deep trouble."
Immediately after saying those words, he turned around and left. He was in a bad mood. He just hoped that the young man that they had targeted this time would not come looking for them. Otherwise, things would get complicated.
….
Bob of course did not know about what had happened after he had left. He successfully went back to his house without encountering any hitches along the way.
The moment that he got back, he prepared a sumptuous meal for himself, and only after he had gobbled everything down did he finally relax. He looked around the house, feeling that this house was quite cramped.
Well, while it didn't have many things, the house itself was quite small. It had an area of approximately 6 m². Other than the bed that occupied the majority of the space in the room, there was only a small space for a table, a small cupboard beside it, and a cooker.
From the memories that he had inherited, Bob understood that the cooker here was not like the one that was back on earth. Instead, this cooker was only functional if a special type of liquid was poured in.
It was almost like a stove, which depended on kerosene or paraffin to operate.
Bob decided after a moment of thought that if he got enough money, he would try and see if he could get a place where he could seclude himself. As for the floating city above, he had no intention of going up there, unless he was powerful enough.
From his understanding, just the person that was in charge of stronghold number seven was so strong, not to mention the one in charge of the floating city. As for the exact power level of the person that was in charge of this stronghold, the previous Bob did not know, so obviously Bob did not know as well.
After thinking for quite a while, while going through the memories of the previous Bob, he ended up falling asleep. He was quite tired. It was not physical weariness, but mental.
He had only transmigrated on this day, and he had processed a lot of information on the same day. Many things had happened, and a lot more would happen the following day. So, Bob instinctively wanted to rest.
The next moment that he opened his eyes, it was already in the morning of the following day. Looking at the watch, Bob realized that it was still 5 in the morning.
As he stretched, Bob suddenly remembered something. It seemed that he had wasted an entire night! If he had used it to absorb the arcane energy in the air, he would have definitely been able to break through to the next level.
Unfortunately, there was nothing that he could do, as he could not turn back the clock. But thinking about it, he finally felt refreshed after several hours of sleep.
Not wasting any more time, Bob looked at the system panel. Seeing that no changes had happened, and the number of skill points that he had still remained at Infinity, Bob focused on absorbing the arcane energy in the air.
Bob got engrossed with the process of getting stronger, completely forgetting the passage of time. It was only after he felt that he had broken through some kind of barrier that he finally opened his eyes again.
Looking at the wrist watch, Bob realized that it had only been slightly over an hour since he started absorbing the arcane energy. And within that 1 hour, changes had occurred to the panel.
[Name: Robert Milton
Age: 20
Power Level: Level 1 Captain
Techniques: Crimson Vortex Sutra (Epic)
Skills: Phantom Veil (Epic), Phantom Thrust (Epic)
Divine skills/abilities:
Current skill points: ∞]
He had successfully broken through, reaching the captain realm. He could feel that his strength had undergone a qualitative increase. In comparison to the time that he was still at level 8 of the soldier realm, the difference was almost 10 times.
Instinctively, Bob grabbed the spear that was on the table not for away. Feeling how light it was, Bob felt slightly helpless. His strength was growing too fast, which led to the newly acquired weapon being useless.
Well, it could still be used, but it would not be as effective when comparable to him using a better weapon. Regardless, he had no intention of hunting high level demons, as he only wanted a few star coins that would allow him to be able to acquire more basic skills and techniques.
Shaking his head slightly, Bob decided to finally venture out of the stronghold. It was currently a little past 6:00 a.m., which was a good time for him to go out of the stronghold. He would be able to deal with the issue of the demons as fast as possible, before coming back to get engrossed with getting stronger.
Just thinking about the feeling of getting stronger, especially at such a rapid pace, Bob was looking forward to upgrading his technique to a higher level. It was just that he did not know how to improve the level of his soul.
Thinking about it, since he began improving his power level, he had not tried upgrading the technique or any of the two skills that he had acquired above Epic tier. So, he immediately tried it, though not that much hopeful.
[Upgrade denied. The technique cannot be upgraded any further, considering that the soul of the host will not be able to handle the effects of the skill beyond Epic tier. In order for any further upgrades to occur, the soul level of the host should be upgraded to the Ascension realm.]
As expected, he received the same prompt as the one that he had received back then when he tried to upgrade the Crimson Vortex Sutra.
Shaking his head, Bob took the small bag that he had used to carry the skill scrolls the previous day, before locking the door of the house and heading towards the direction of the gate that led out of the stronghold.
The gate was located quite a distance away from where he currently was, which led to him taking almost an entire hour to get there.
The gate area was deserted as compared to the slum area where he was living. It was not deserted by people, but by buildings. Nobody lived close to the gate other than the enforcers, due to the dangers involved.
But right now, Bob could see that a large number of people was going out of the stronghold. Only a few people were coming back, and most of those people, Bob could not tell their power level.
"Your identification first!" Just as Bob wanted to walk out of the gate, he was suddenly stopped by one of the enforcers who looked at him with a stern gaze.
"Identification? What is that?" Bob asked, puzzled.
