Chapter 142

Hyun Min's eyes narrowed as he turned to face his mother, his voice laced with biting irritation. "Your presence here is utterly unnecessary," he said, his words dripping with contempt.

Soo Young's gaze faltered for a moment, before she regained her composure. "You aren't going back to that...house," she said, her voice firm but laced with a hint of desperation. "You're coming home with me, where you belong."

Hyun Min's eyebrow arched in skepticism. "And what if I refuse?" he challenged, his tone cold and detached.

Soo Young's eyes darted around, as if searching for the right words. "You...you can't just dismiss it" she stammered, her face flushing with a mix of anger and desperation.

Without another word, Hyun Min dipped his hands into his pockets and turned away, his voice casual and dismissive. "I'm going to get my luggages" he said, walking away with a careless stride.

The nonchalant tone and gesture seemed to cut through Soo Young's desperation, leaving her standing alone with her frustration.

As I strolled alongside Nella, I couldn't help but be captivated by her radiant presence. Her stunning features and effortless elegance left me in awe, and I found myself stealing glances at her, mesmerized by her beauty. She caught my gaze and smiled, her eyes sparkling with mirth and warmth.

"I'm absolutely thrilled at the prospect of you two tying the knot and starting a family," she said, her voice filled with genuine enthusiasm. "Mixed babies are just adorable, don't you agree? And as for me, I'm not sure if I'll end up with someone from Korea or perhaps someone from a different cultural background altogether. The world is full of possibilities, after all."

I felt a little taken aback by her candid comments, but I couldn't deny the infectious energy she brought to our conversation. Nella was a vibrant and lively individual, and I found myself drawn to her effervescent personality. As we walked, she shared with me her fond memories of attending school in the area. "I have to admit, I was quite the troublemaker back in the day," she said with a mischievous grin. "But this place holds a special place in my heart – it belongs to my dad, you know."

As we entered the school, Nella was greeted warmly by the women at the desk, who seemed to know her well. "How's college life treating you?" one of them asked, and Nella replied with a bright smile, "It's been great, thanks for asking." I stood by, waiting for her to finish her conversation, feeling a sense of comfort in her presence.

Later, as we walked down the hallway, Nella was stopped by several students who knew her. They exchanged warm greetings and words of affection, and Nella's smile lit up the entire corridor. "I've missed you so much!" one of them exclaimed, and Nella's response was immediate. "I've missed you too!" she said, her voice filled with warmth.

As Nella and I stood in my room, surrounded by my packed luggage, I couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia. The familiar space, once filled with laughter and late-night study sessions, was now empty and sterile. My two boxes and assorted bags for essentials sat neatly by the door, waiting to be carted away.

Nella's voice broke the silence, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Would you like to join me at Yonsei University?" she asked, her words tumbling out in a rush. "It's a prestigious institution, and I think you'd thrive there."

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself. "Yonsei, huh?" I replied, my tone measured. "I'll consider it."

Nella's face lit up with a mischievous grin, her eyes dancing with amusement. "And besides, I'm eager to see the adorable little ones you'll create with Hyun Min," she gushed, her words sending a flush to my cheeks.

I stared at her, incredulous. "Unni, we're not even sure if we'll take things to the next level," I protested, laughing.

Nella's grin only widened. "Nonsense, I'll play the role of matchmaker and ensure you two become an unbeatable couple," she declared, her words dripping with conviction.

I chuckled, shaking my head as we rolled one of the boxes outside. Nella chattered on, her words flowing effortlessly as we navigated the hallway. I rolled the second box alongside hers, taking care to secure the other bags.

As I cast a final glance around the room, satisfaction washed over me. Everything was packed, and I was ready to move on. With a quiet nod, I rolled the box out into the hallway, Nella by my side.

I submitted the key and we made our way outside, the bright sunlight a jarring contrast to the dimly lit room we'd just left. Nella's non-stop chatter accompanied me as we rolled the luggages.

As we rolled the box away, Hyun Min suddenly appeared beside us, his eyes meeting mine with a warm smile. With a gentle motion, he took the box from me, his fingers brushing against mine. "Let me take this," he said, his voice low and smooth.

Nella, walking alongside us, didn't bat an eyelid at her brother's sudden appearance. Instead, she shot me a knowing glance, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

I followed Hyun Min as he effortlessly lifted the box and walked ahead, Nella trailing behind us with another box. As we approached the car, my mom looked up, her eyes taking in Hyun Min with interest. He gave her a slight bow, a gesture of respect that seemed to catch her attention.

Although I'd already told her about him during my last visit home, I could sense her curiosity piqued. She smiled, her expression warm, as Hyun Min continued to carry my box with ease.

Hyun Min efficiently loaded the box into the trunk, and I handed him the one Nella was carrying, which he added to the others with ease. I placed the bags I was holding onto the back seat, I stood beside my mom who was now outside the car.

Her eyes sparkled with warmth as she gazed at Hyun Min. "You're even more captivating in person," she said, her voice filled with genuine admiration.

Hyun Min's face lit up with a charming smile. "The pleasure is all mine, ma'am," he replied, his words dripping with sincerity. "You possess a radiant beauty that rivals the brightest stars – it's no wonder Sarah inherited her stunning looks from you."

The air was filled with the sound of our laughter, and Nella chimed in, her voice bubbly. "I'm thrilled to finally meet you, ma'am. I'm Hyun Min's sister, nella and soon to be a part of this lovely family."

My mom's eyes landed on Nella, and she smiled, her expression warm. "You're a breath of fresh air, Nella. Your charm and beauty are undeniable."
