"Just relax, okay?" Kael said softly, his voice carrying nothing but the sheer comfort he wished she could feel. "We're just sleeping."
He could feel her unease and wished she could learn to fall asleep with him by her side and his other arm as her pillow.
Lilah was a bit anxious and she stiffened. Her heart thumped, her blood pumped faster and her skin flushed.
She had never shared a bed, nor had she been held in a man's arms like this before. Her heart thudded wildly, so fast that she grew worried. What if he heard it?
And what if he mistook her racing heart for excitement?
What would he think of her?
These thoughts wouldn't leave her alone and she got dizzy again. There were just too many thoughts at once.
But even as she battled with her thoughts, Kael didn't tease her even when he could hear her heart racing a mile per second. He didn't say anything more.
