Chapter 159 - CHAPTER 159

c159: Arriving in Guangdong City

At this stage, Chen Xiaoxiao really didn't plan to train a Snorlax. If this Snorlax was willing to follow her, she would still hand it over to her grandmother.

Her grandmother came from an old Breeder family, one that specialized in making high-grade Pokéblocks and energy cubes similar to those seen in the Hoenn Breeder academies. With that expertise, raising a Snorlax wouldn't be much of a burden for her.

Guangdong Village was only about ten kilometers from their current location. Chen Xiaoxiao worried that if Snorlax stayed in the wild, it might wander into the village to steal tree fruits from the villagers' orchards again just like the Snorlax in the Pokémon Adventures manga that blocked Vermilion's roads after overeating.

If Snorlax didn't agree, there was nothing she could do.

Chen Xiaoxiao decided she would have to teleport it far away, at least to prevent it from causing any more trouble.

"Snorlax, how about it? Would you like to become my Pokémon?" she asked softly. "But I might not be able to take care of you all the time. My grandma can, though she's a Breeder who makes the best Pokéblocks in the Kanto region! Of course, you'll never go hungry again!"

Chen Xiaoxiao held out a Poké Ball and a packet of high-quality energy cubes that shimmered faintly the kind Gardevoir and Ampharos loved, made with Nanab Berries and a trace of Mago syrup.

At her words, Snorlax's eyes widened. Its belly rumbled, and it nodded almost immediately, drool nearly dripping from its mouth.

Seeing that, Chen Xiaoxiao sighed helplessly. "Looks like you don't care who your Trainer is, huh? You just want food…"

"Alright, Snorlax, just touch this spot here," she said, holding the Poké Ball in front of it.

Snorlax extended a massive paw and gently tapped the Poké Ball's button.

With a click, a bright red light enveloped it. The Poké Ball shook once, twice then dinged! No struggle at all.

Snorlax was successfully caught!

"Hehe." Chen Xiaoxiao smiled in satisfaction. "Come on, Gardevoir, Ampharos let's head into the Pokémon space too."

She returned the two Pokémon to their Poké Balls, then her figure shimmered and disappeared into her personal Pokémon space an ability granted by her unique bond with her psychic-type Gardevoir.

Snorlax, newly captured, blinked in confusion as it materialized inside the glowing green world of the Pokémon space.

Is this… the world inside a Poké Ball?

Snorlax's eyes widened. There were grassy meadows, berry trees, and even a small stream and Pokémon! Gardevoir, Ampharos, Meowstic, and several others.

"Everyone, come meet our new friend!" Chen Xiaoxiao clapped her hands.

The Pokémon had already sensed Snorlax's presence, and one by one they gathered around. Snorlax tensed up; the aura from Gardevoir and Ampharos, both near Gym Leader-level, was intimidating.

But after Chen Xiaoxiao's warm introductions and Gardevoir's gentle telepathic greeting, Snorlax relaxed and began to communicate cheerfully.

Finally, with his stomach full and his new friends around, Snorlax yawned loudly. The ground trembled slightly as it lay down and instantly fell asleep, snoring rhythmically.

All the Pokémon went silent for a moment. Even Gardevoir chuckled softly. "He fell asleep too fast," Chen Xiaoxiao said, amused.

But Meowstic's eyes sparkled mischievously. It ran over, nudged Snorlax's face to confirm it was deeply asleep, then climbed atop its enormous belly.

With a small bounce, Meowstic sprang upward and bounced again! The soft, springy surface of Snorlax's stomach acted like a trampoline.

The Sun Pokémon (Espeon) watched in amusement, then leapt up too, joining in. The two Pokémon bounced and spun, doing playful flips midair. Chen Xiaoxiao couldn't help laughing aloud, joined by the rest of her team.

The Pokémon space was filled with laughter.

---

A few days later, after traveling leisurely through the wild and resting at several Pokémon Centers, Chen Xiaoxiao finally stood at the outskirts of Guangdong City.

"Finally here!" she said, stretching as the sunlight glinted off the city's tall glass towers.

It had been years since she last visited. She remembered when her grandmother took her to Guangdong City on the back of a Pidgeot (whom her grandma affectionately called "Didi Bidiao") to visit an old Breeder friend's Eevee farm. That was where she met the Eevee who later evolved into her Sun Pokémon (Espeon), now almost at champion-level strength.

Ten years had passed since then in the blink of an eye.

"Come out, Sun Pokémon!" she called, releasing Espeon in a flash of light.

"Do you still remember this place?" she asked, gently stroking Espeon's soft fur. Espeon nodded, nuzzling her affectionately. The days of its youth in the Breeder Field were faint in memory, but the day it met Chen Xiaoxiao was etched deep in its heart.

Opening her Pokédex, Chen Xiaoxiao called her grandmother and confirmed the Eevee Breeder Field's exact location. Her grandmother's old friend was still running it!

Fixing the pin on her Pokédex map, Chen Xiaoxiao smiled. "Let's go, Espeon. We're going back."

The Eevee Breeder Field was in the city suburbs perfectly along her route so she didn't need to make any detours.

Espeon followed close behind, its violet eyes glimmering softly. It remembered how, as a small Eevee, it used to perch on Chen Xiaoxiao's shoulder. Back then she was barely taller than a Poké Mart counter, yet she could still lift and carry it easily.

Now, Espeon was almost a meter tall, and while Chen Xiaoxiao had grown into a young woman, her shoulders were no longer a perch for her Pokémon except for the small, playful Meowstic.

Walking through the city, Chen Xiaoxiao naturally drew attention. A Trainer accompanied by a shiny Gardevoir and a radiant Espeon was not something one saw every day. Some people recognized her from the recent regional tournament and whispered in awe.

Chen Xiaoxiao paid them no mind. She simply enjoyed the familiar urban scenery the rows of Poké Marts, cafés, and the shining logo of the Pokémon Breeder Association headquarters.

After an hour's walk, around 4 PM, she finally reached the old Eevee Breeder Field.

Though a decade had passed, the building looked just as she remembered maybe even better maintained, with clean white fences and blooming Nanab trees. Clearly, it had been regularly renovated.

Chen Xiaoxiao's heart warmed. Returning here after so many years truly felt like coming home.

"Come on, Espeon, Gardevoir let's go in!"
