"Damn it! Chen Xiaoxiao clearly went to challenge the Guancheng Gym earlier was that just a smokescreen? And how the hell did Lin Yi, the Guancheng Gym Leader, and Chen Xiaoxiao find this location?"
Brother Dong was completely flustered.
The heavy container doors creaked open and in the next moment, chaos broke loose.
The poachers over a dozen trainers strong scrambled out of the cargo container and looked toward the left side of the truck. There, descending from the skies, was Lin Yi, riding on an imposing Aerodactyl, a Gym Leader recognized by the League and a veteran in aerial combat.
Before they could make a move, they turned to the right and froze.
Chen Xiaoxiao, who'd recently made national headlines for defeating two rogue trainers and her involvement in the Cerulean City operation, stood there, arms crossed, beside her Latias, radiating calm authority.
The poachers were thrown into panic.
"Are you going to surrender peacefully?" Lin Yi shouted, still airborne, the Aerodactyl's wings creating powerful gusts. "Or should I help you make that decision?"
"Pfft—what a line," Chen Xiaoxiao chuckled softly, unfazed.
The criminal trainers looked at each other uneasily, clearly shaken by the presence of two elite-level trainers.
"Don't get intimidated! There are just two of them!" Brother Dong barked, leaping from the truck bed. "If you get caught now, it's over for all of you. Fight back!"
He hurled five Poké Balls into the air.
"Come out! Dragalge! Drapion! Arbok! Weezing! Seviper!"
A menacing lineup of Poison-type Pokémon emerged, though it was clear that only the Dragalge had reached Elite Tier. The rest, while vicious-looking, were below that threshold.
Far from the level of infamy of Hunter J, the notorious mercenary from the Sinnoh region.
Spurred by his shout, the rest of the gang followed suit, summoning their Pokémon.
"Tch... Resisting arrest and ordering Pokémon to attack League agents?" Chen Xiaoxiao's smile sharpened. "You're stacking charges."
As her words echoed, the Gym staff Lin Yi had positioned earlier dressed in League uniforms revealed themselves. They emerged riding Flying-types like Pidgeot, Staraptor, and Togekiss, forming a wide encirclement around the villa from above.
The first circle, formed by Chen and Lin, was now reinforced by a second aerial perimeter, preventing any escape route and safeguarding the surrounding structures from collateral damage.
"Don't listen to them! If you betray the mission now, you'll all pay for it!" Brother Dong yelled again, trying to hold the group's resolve.
But Lin Yi and Chen Xiaoxiao exchanged sharp glances—both noticed it: the gang's morale was crumbling fast.
"Weezing! Use Smog! Target the Gym Leader!"
Brother Dong pointed directly at Lin Yi.
Thick, noxious fumes began to pour out of Weezing's pores, clouding the field.
At the same time, he took out a small box—injection syringes gleaming inside.
Without hesitation, he jabbed each into his own Pokémon's necks, injecting a greenish-purple fluid.
The others followed suit.
"Kartana, Defog! Venusaur, Vine Whip! Sceptile, Lilligant, cover fire!"
Lin Yi acted instantly. Kartana's Defog cleared the toxic cloud in seconds, while Venusaur's vines whipped toward Brother Dong to intercept the injection.
But too late—his Dragalge's eyes glowed crimson, its aura surging!
BOOM!
With a roar, Dragalge slammed its Dragon Tail, batting away Venusaur's vines and cracking the ground beneath it.
All of Brother Dong's Pokémon had now been forcefully enhanced.
"You monster! You're using illegal performance-enhancing drugs on your Pokémon?!"
Lin Yi clenched his fists.
The drug was infamous: X-Virus Variant D, a League-banned substance originating from Kalos underworld labs. It could raise a Pokémon's stats sharply for minutes, but at a terrible cost: shortened lifespan, extreme aggression, and in some cases, total system failure.
"Hah! Dragalge, Drapion, Weezing—wipe them out!"
Brother Dong laughed maniacally, as if already drunk on temporary power.
The enemy Pokémon surged forward with an overwhelming wave of toxic energy.
"Metagross, Protect! Gardevoir, Sunflora, Confusion!"
Chen Xiaoxiao's voice cut through the noise. Metagross deployed a shimmering Protect barrier, halting the bulk of the incoming attacks.
Gardevoir and Sunflora (nicknamed "Sun Pokémon") each launched Confusion waves, grabbing the syringes mid-air right out of the gang's hands and throwing them aside.
"Argh—damn it!"
Some poachers hadn't finished injecting. Now they were caught in the middle—some with boosted Pokémon, others not.
"Houndoom, Flamethrower!"
"Golbat, Air Slash!"
"Victreebel, Venoshock!"
"Dustox, Bug Buzz!"
The poachers retaliated.
"Latias, Psychic!"
Chen Xiaoxiao calmly ordered.
Latias's eyes glowed blue and in a flash, a massive psychic wave erupted from her body.
BOOM!
The attacks from the enemy Pokémon dissolved in mid-air as the Psychic power crushed them with invisible force.
"W-what?! One move?!"
"Champion-level pressure…?!"
"Who the hell is she?!"
The poachers panicked despite using banned enhancers, they were still leagues below.
Chen Xiaoxiao checked her Alliance Agent System HUD. It confirmed: the drug's effects were unstable, raising some Pokémon by 5–10 levels, others by 15+ levels in minutes.
However, that power was unpredictable and the crash afterward, potentially fatal.
"Such recklessness... You're burning out their potential just for a temporary boost?"
Chen Xiaoxiao's expression darkened.
"Gardevoir, Metagross, Sunflora Psyshock! Latias, Dragon Pulse!"
Her Pokémon didn't hesitate. Triple Psyshock beams rippled across the battlefield, shattering the terrain.
Latias opened her mouth and blasted a radiant Dragon Pulse, piercing through layers of Protect shields.
"Protect! Golduck, Beedrill, Venomoth Protect now!"
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The Protect shields buckled and shattered. Even with the drug boost, most of the opposing Pokémon were only Advanced-tier or early Elite-tier.
In seconds, over a dozen Pokémon collapsed, twitching, defeated or knocked unconscious.
