Chapter 112 - CHAPTER 112

c112: Raichu, Are You TM Diglett?

"(Xiaoxiao, I'm okay!)"

Thanks to their established spiritual connection, Solgaleo didn't need to speak Chen Xiaoxiao understood his thoughts instantly.

"Good! Solgaleo, use Double Team, then Psyshock!"

Sensing that Solgaleo hadn't suffered serious damage from Zapdos' last Thunderbolt, Chen Xiaoxiao gave her next sequence of commands with renewed confidence.

Solgaleo's figure split rapidly, shimmering into dozens of illusory copies that hovered in midair around Zapdos.

Seeing so many Solgaleos surrounding it, Zapdos became further agitated.

Golden saffron electricity crackled around its feathers as it launched multiple Thunder Shock blasts, trying to clear the illusions.

But before it could dispel them all, dozens of Solgaleo copies glowed with pulsing blue light. Psychic energy surged outward in synchronized waves Psyshock launching from every direction!

BOOM!

Zapdos could sense only one was real, but amidst the barrage, it couldn't determine which.

Unable to effectively dodge, the Legendary Bird was once again struck by a direct hit!

Screeching in pain, the furious Zapdos flapped its wings, generating a gust that warped the air.

But instead of a traditional Flying-type move like Hurricane, a wave of burning air rolled outward a Fire-type move: Heat Wave!

"Is this just random... or does Zapdos actually know Solgaleo's typing? Probably just coincidence," Chen Xiaoxiao thought to herself, observing Zapdos' wild, near-feral behavior. "Right now, it's more like a rabid beast than a Legendary."

"Solgaleo, Teleport! Then counter with Flamethrower!"

You want to play with fire? Fine, let's play.

Solgaleo vanished in a flash, dodging the Heat Wave entirely, and reappeared behind the airborne Zapdos.

Its maw opened wide, and flames surged out, forming a concentrated Flamethrower aimed directly at Zapdos's exposed back!

Boom!

The attack struck hard, landing on a critical weak point just as Zapdos was mid-aircasting.

The Legendary screeched in agony again, spiraling slightly as it was forced back.

Zapdos roared, its rage spiking. Electricity surged even more violently around its wings and talons now it was no longer just attacking, it was lashing out wildly.

"Solgaleo, retreat now!"

Sensing the incoming electrical storm through their link, Chen Xiaoxiao commanded the order mentally with urgency.

Solgaleo immediately obeyed, pulling back just as Zapdos unleashed a terrifying power: an uncontrolled, field-wide Discharge!

Centered around Zapdos, hundreds of Thunder Shock bolts fell in rapid waves across a circular area hundreds of meters wide like a personal storm cloud had burst open.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Despite Solgaleo's quick retreat, the saturation of lightning strikes was too thick multiple bolts clipped his retreat path.

When Solgaleo finally exited the range, his once-pristine white fur was scorched in streaks of black, his body smoking faintly.

Chen Xiaoxiao winced. It hurt just to look at him.

"Latias! Use Heal Pulse now!"

Without hesitation, Chen Xiaoxiao directed Latias to dive in. She didn't even consider her own safety.

Latias streaked across the wasteland and hovered beside Solgaleo, who was already grounded and panting.

A wave of green, pulsing light washed over him Heal Pulse restoring his vitality, mending the burns across his side.

The battlefield around Zapdos was still scorched and smoking. Luckily, this was an uninhabited wasteland. Had this been near a forest or village, a wildfire or worse could have erupted.

Under Latias' soothing energy, Solgaleo's charred coat began to shimmer white again.

"Phew..." Chen Xiaoxiao let out a breath of relief.

"(Xiaoxiao, I'm okay now keep your distance!)"

Solgaleo, regaining strength, sent another mental signal to his Trainer.

Chen Xiaoxiao nodded, signaling Latias to retreat to safety as she issued the next attack.

"Solgaleo, Stone Edge go!"

Feeling assured that Chen Xiaoxiao was now several hundred meters away, Solgaleo roared and summoned the move.

Dozens of razor-sharp rocks erupted from the ground beneath Zapdos, targeting it mid-flight.

Still recovering from its last outburst, Zapdos was panting hard there was no time to dodge.

BOOM!

The stone barrage slammed into the Thunder Bird with violent force, sending it screeching as it flailed in the air. Its flight was now unstable, its energy clearly fading.

On the verge of collapse, Zapdos began to falter.

Meanwhile...

Following Chen Xiaoxiao's directive, Gardevoir had re-entered the Electric Forest, tasked with psychic scanning for any signs of disturbances underground.

Unfortunately, due to dense soil barriers and natural electromagnetic interference, Gardevoir's perception radius was limited only a few kilometers per scan, and each one took nearly 30 seconds.

Even after 20 minutes of continuous effort, she had only scanned an area a little over 100 kilometers in diameter.

Anxious, Gardevoir pressed on.

She had never been away from Chen Xiaoxiao for this long not since they had bonded. Five minutes apart was rare. More than twenty minutes in a high-stakes battle zone? Her worry intensified.

Even this far out, the thunderclaps and distant explosions of the Zapdos battle echoed faintly.

Unable to shake her concern, Gardevoir momentarily paused the search and locked on to Chen Xiaoxiao's psychic presence just five kilometers from the forest's edge.

Only when she confirmed that her Trainer was safe did Gardevoir feel secure enough to continue.

But in that moment of calm, her scanning habits kicked in. As she swept her mental power downward again—she finally detected something.

Two lifeforms. Underground. Pokémon signatures.

Surprised and a little embarrassed, Gardevoir processed the realization.

How had she missed this?

They were right outside the search radius she had started her search too far out, completely missing what had been right under her metaphorical nose.

"What's hidden under the lantern?" she thought bitterly.

Had she not turned back when she did, she might have spent another hour scanning in the wrong direction.

Irritated, Gardevoir instantly Teleported to the underground source.

Deep within the burrow, a startled Raichu froze mid-Dig as a powerful psychic ripple filled the tunnel behind him.

Electric sparks crackled defensively across his cheeks as he spun around.

Lei Jian and Lei Ye, crouched behind with flashlights and dirt-covered Poké Balls, turned in alarm.

"Huff...!"

Seeing that it was the gleaming, alternate-color Gardevoir, all three relaxed.

"Gardevoir!" Lei Ye cried. "We're being chased by tons of wild Electric-types! We almost got caught! Thank Arceus Raichu knows Dig or we'd be toast!"

Knowing Gardevoir could hear her thoughts, Lei Ye poured out the whole story in one burst.

Gardevoir's glowing eyes narrowed.

She turned to Raichu who was completely coated in dirt and gave him a long, unimpressed look.

Then she crossed her arms and muttered telepathically:

"Raichu… are you TM28 Diglett now?"
