c101: Dragon Pulse
After Gardevoir and Chen Xiaoxiao vanished in a flash, they reappeared in a small valley over 20 kilometers away.
Chen Xiaoxiao looked around, her eyes on towering trees hundreds of meters high she knew at once this was the lair of those rare Electric-type Pokémon Heliolisk had mentioned.
Scanning the area, she saw no sign of Pokémon at first.
"Heliolisk said there's a small group of rare Electric-types here. Gardevoir, look for them."
Chen Xiaoxiao instructed. Not discouraged by the silence, she trusted Gardevoir's Psychic senses.
"Xiaoxiao, I found them over a dozen nearby, and one emits a powerful aura." Gardevoir's eyes glowed blue as it relayed what its Psychic ability had detected.
According to Heliolisk's description, one of them led the group a powerful one.
Chen Xiaoxiao shook her head. "Nothing to worry about. Let's go."
With that, Gardevoir nodded and led them through another flash of Teleport.
Moments later, they appeared a few kilometers closer.
Ahead, about a hundred meters away, three large lizard-like Pokémon caught her attention. Their bodies were yellow with white bellies, topaz-black stripes on necks, ears, and part of their tails and distinctive red spheres at the tips.
Around them, more than a dozen similar but smaller yellow or pink Electric-types Mareep and Flaaffy rested on the ground.
Chen Xiaoxiao felt her heartbeat quicken. Using her system to scan the Pokémon, she found:

Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes lit up this was a strong battle candidate. She scanned the other two Ampharos and nodded with approval.
Noticing their sudden appearance, the resting Mareep and Flaaffy hurried behind the trio, watching curiously. The three Ampharos locked gazes on Chen Xiaoxiao and Gardevoir with vigilant stances.
The lead Ampharos's eyes locked onto Gardevoir, sensing a powerful presence—and its body tensed.
"Don't worry, this is a meeting gift."
Chen Xiaoxiao opened her system and exchanged some points. In a Confusion-like hover, she drifted closer and offered the leader a pack of Apex Electric Energy Cubes.
The Ampharos inspected the cubes, sniffed, and relaxed upon discovering they were safe and beneficial not only tasting delicious but also helping Electric Pokémon grow stronger.
Accepting the gift, the leader passed cubes to its family, grateful and calm.
Chen Xiaoxiao smiled. "Ampharos, how about a friendly battle?"
She stepped forward. Ampharos bristled with excitement and Gardevoir looked slightly hesitant, aware of the leader's strength.
Sensing both eagerness and caution, Chen Xiaoxiao gave a confident nod and threw a Poké Ball:
"Latias, I choose you!"
Latias emerged, nuzzling Chen Xiaoxiao affectionately.
"Ampharos, would you battle my Latias?" she asked.
Latias's eyes gleamed with excitement. She had reached Level 80 after the Solgaleo–Marshadow event, sitting just shy of Champion rank longing for a true test.
Ampharos, having seen few Pokémon leave the forest, couldn't sense any divine-level power but it did detect a deep and refined aura.
It realized this Latias was at its own rank but different. It nodded and turned to the others, signaling them to stay back. It then stepped into an open clearing and stared at Latias.
"Latias, let's start!"
Chen Xiaoxiao patted Latias's neck. The Lati-family Pokémon soared forward about a hundred meters.
"Latias Dragon Pulse!"
Energy glowed in Latias's mouth as she unleashed a strong blue beam toward Ampharos.
At the same moment, Ampharos opened its mouth and summoned a massive Dragon Pulse of its own though electric energy colored it yellow.
Their blasts met mid-air, crackling in a spectacle of raw power. Latias's beam and spirit was clearly stronger, pushing Ampharos's kinase back. In response, Ampharos summoned more strength.
BOOM!
Just as Latias's attack threatened to overwhelm, Ampharos unleashed its enhanced power. The two Dragon Pulses collided violently, exploding tens of meters ahead of Ampharos and sending a massive shockwave that knocked it back dramatically.
