Chapter 100 - CHAPTER 100

c100: Heliolisk—Enough to Be a Friend

"Meowstic, use Psyshock!"

Blue light surged from Meowstic's body, coalescing into a series of psychic projectiles. The condensed energy split the air as it launched toward the target Pokémon ahead.

The target—a reptilian creature with sleek, lizard-like features leapt back just in time. Its body was yellow, adorned with orange stripes on the thighs, a dark black head and neck, and a frilled, collar-like structure around its neck.

Boom!

The Psyshock blasted into the ground, missing by inches.

Pokémon: Heliolisk

Gender: Male ♂

Level: 68 (Elite-tier, Intermediate stage)

Type: Electric/Normal

This was the first Elite-level Electric-type Pokémon that Chen Xiaoxiao had encountered during her few days of exploration inside the Electric Forest.

After evading the Psyshock, Heliolisk's body began crackling with saffron-colored electricity. Arcs danced across his frill as he retaliated with a devastating beam of lightning.

"Thunderbolt!"

Seeing the oncoming surge, Chen Xiaoxiao reacted with sharp precision.

"Meowstic, Psychic counter it now!"

Meowstic's eyes gleamed as it emitted a deep blue aura, forming a spiraling psychic wave that collided with Heliolisk's Thunderbolt mid-air.

BOOM!

The two techniques clashed violently in the center, sending out a shockwave as electric light and psychic force canceled each other out.

"Meowstic, Dazzling Gleam now!"

Without waiting for the dust and smoke to settle, Chen Xiaoxiao seized the advantage. Psychic-types didn't need clear vision they could sense opponents by aura and brainwaves alone.

Meowstic fired a brilliant rainbow-colored beam. The air shimmered with light as the beam sliced through the cloud of dust, headed directly for Heliolisk's position.

Heliolisk realized it too late.

BOOM!

The Dazzling Gleam hit square on. Heliolisk was thrown back, his body glowing faintly as sparkles danced around him. His pupils contracted as his stance grew unsteady.

"He's confused!"

Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes lit up.

"Meowstic, Disarming Voice finish him!"

Meowstic mewed, unleashing a wave of harmonic, charming sound that echoed through the air. Normally harmless, but against a confused target with lowered mental resistance, it struck deep.

Heliolisk flinched, staggering as his ears twitched painfully.

He let out a distorted cry as his body surged with wild electricity.

The yellow lizard was overwhelmed by confusion and frustration.

Thunder!

A massive bolt of lightning burst upward from Heliolisk's own body only to come crashing down on himself like a wrathful god's punishment.

BOOM!!

Heliolisk hit the ground in a smoking heap, blackened from head to toe. His limbs twitched once, then went limp. His eyes swirled like spinning Pokéballs.

"…Seriously?"

Chen Xiaoxiao blinked, speechless.

"Do you think you're a Lightning Rod user or something?" she thought, stunned. "You really zapped yourself with Thunder?"

Still, her fingers quickly moved to open her system interface. A familiar alert chimed.

Ding!

Points +3700 [Elite-Level Heliolisk Defeated]

Chen Xiaoxiao exhaled in relief.

Even if Heliolisk technically knocked himself out, the confusion was caused by her Meowstic's Dazzling Gleam so the system recognized it as her win.

"Good work, Meowstic!"

Meowstic gracefully leapt onto her shoulder, giving the unconscious Heliolisk a disdainful glare. Clearly, he wasn't impressed by a foe who eliminated himself.

"Haha, Meowstic is such a competitive fighter."

Chen Xiaoxiao chuckled, scooping him from her shoulder and giving him a good rub, turning her elegant Psychic-type into a spoiled housecat for a moment.

Then, turning to Gardevoir beside her:

"Gardevoir, heal Heliolisk."

Gardevoir's eyes glowed cerulean as she stepped forward, summoning gentle green waves of Healing Pulse from her palms. The aura spread over Heliolisk's burned body, slowly reversing the damage.

Moments later, Heliolisk stirred and sat up, eyes still dizzy but conscious again.

"Heliolisk, thank you for the battle. Have something to eat you earned it."

Chen Xiaoxiao reached into her bag and took out a freshly crafted Apex Electric Energy Cube, infused with peak-purity nutrients tailored for high-level Electric-types.

Heliolisk's eyes lit up the moment he sniffed it. With no hesitation, he gobbled it down. The taste was explosive far better than anything he'd ever had.

He looked up at her with hopeful eyes, clearly wanting more.

Chen Xiaoxiao giggled.

"Fine, fine. Here's another."

She handed him a second cube and sat beside him.

While Heliolisk munched away, Chen Xiaoxiao gently asked, "Do you know much about the Forest of Electricity? I'm looking for strong Pokémon in the area."

Sensing her gentle demeanor, Heliolisk dropped his guard. He nodded and began to explain.

Through his gestures and sounds and a bit of telepathic assistance from Gardevoir Chen Xiaoxiao learned about the forest's layout.

Apparently, this forest held far more than just scattered wild Electric-types. Several high-tier Pokémon lived here, stronger than Heliolisk himself—some even gathered in hidden zones.

But when Chen Xiaoxiao gently asked where, Heliolisk paused. His body language turned uncertain. He shook his head.

There was something… unspoken.

Though curious, Chen Xiaoxiao didn't press. Her goal wasn't to invade secret dens or provoke territory bosses.

She wasn't on an active training arc. She was just here to relax, to pass time before the New Year.

Still, she asked about the general distribution of wild Electric-types.

Heliolisk, seeing no harm, enthusiastically shared details species ranges, terrain preferences, rare spawn zones. His tail even lit up as he described it.

Many Electric-types desired strong Trainers ones who could help them reach their potential.

Unlike wild beasts who rejected humans, Pokémon with ambition wanted to be trained.

And judging from Gardevoir's pressure alone Heliolisk knew Chen Xiaoxiao was no ordinary Trainer.

In fact, her team's strength, calm demeanor, and compassionate treatment made it obvious she was an Excellent Trainer.

He silently hoped that whatever Electric-type she caught next would treasure the opportunity.

After learning so much, Chen Xiaoxiao beamed with appreciation.

Heliolisk had gone out of his way to help her. That deserved a reward.

Spending a few hundred points from her system, she exchanged for a bundle of 100 Apex Electric Cubes a luxury in any region.

"Here, for you."

She handed the whole bag to Heliolisk.

The Spark Pokémon was stunned.

No one wild or Trainer had ever treated him so generously. His eyes watered slightly as he hugged the bag like it was a newborn.

"Let's go, Gardevoir."

Chen Xiaoxiao gave Heliolisk a grateful smile and stood up.

Gardevoir nodded, having memorized the directions from earlier.

Her silhouette shimmered, and with a brilliant flash of Teleport, she and Chen Xiaoxiao vanished into the air onward toward their next adventure.
