*Snap!*
In the dim interrogation room, Caitlin snapped her fingers. A bright white spotlight instantly shone down on the middle-aged man sitting at the far end of the long table, his wrists cuffed...
"You've got three minutes," Caitlin said, her fair face stern, "Tell us your objective. Otherwise, we'll resort to special interrogation methods."
The man, none other than the butler from the manor, remained calm, completely unfazed by the young lady's threat.
He casually brushed some dust off his suit and said, "I've got nothing to say."
As long as he stayed silent, their operation would be classified as a simple Pokémon theft case.
Under Unova League law, such cases warranted three to ten years in prison. And with his lawyer's help, he was confident his sentence would be minimized.
As for his family, 'that person' would take care of everything. So, since no one was going to die, there wasn't anything for him to fear.
"Don't think we don't know just because you won't talk," Caitlin narrowed her eyes, recalling the intel from their investigation, "Yamamoto Takashi, eighteenth-generation head of the Yamamoto family. A highly organized and malicious Pokémon theft operation occurred at his estate. Do you really think he'll walk away from this?"
"Then go investigate!" the man said dismissively, "You don't honestly think you can touch the Yamamoto family in Opelucid City, do you?" He smiled at the girl, "Miss Caitlin, I think you understand what I mean..."
*Smack!*
At that, Caitlin shot up, slamming her palm on the table in anger.
Of course she understood. Being born into a prominent family herself, she knew exactly how these clans operated.
Vast wealth, complex networks of influence spread across Unova, alliances with other major families; their reach even exceeded that of the Unova League itself.
If they moved against one, the whole region could spiral into chaos.
Thus the interrogation hit a dead end...
Furious, Caitlin momentarily lost control of her normally well-contained psychic aura. The table in front of her was instantly flung across the room with a loud crash.
The sound reached outside, where Caleb was dealing with the detained players. Hearing the commotion, he said to them, "Wait here a moment."
The players stared blankly.
Xingwang asked in disbelief, "You... you're really Caleb?"
Caleb gave a quick nod and walked straight toward the interrogation room.
The moment he left, the group of players exploded into whispers:
"Damn! He really is Caleb! The one who caught Mewtwo!"
"Wait! Did you guys see the news from this world?"
"What news?"
"About the Mewtwo that mysteriously appeared in Alola. It ended up getting caught by some mystery guy! You think that was him?"
Everyone fell silent, unsure how to react.
After a long pause, someone finally said, "No way… If that's true, doesn't that mean he's got two Mewtwos now?"
…
Caleb pushed open the interrogation room door and asked, "What's going on?"
Caitlin closed her eyes, reining in her surging psychic aura, then recounted the entire conversation.
Caleb raised an eyebrow when he heard it.
This reminded him of that one country back on Earth which was completely controlled by corporations and capital.
Before crossing over, Caleb had been an ordinary person and didn't know much about these things. But he knew this kind of situation was extremely dangerous.
He thought for a moment and asked, "Can these noble families really undermine the League's authority?"
Caitlin nodded gravely, "One family alone isn't scary. The real threat is when they unite. These elites control access to rare Pokémon resources..."
"And they've even infiltrated the League itself," Caleb finished, understanding immediately.
If that was the case, this whole mess was going to be incredibly hard to handle.
If they decided to go after the families involved, it would provoke fierce resistance. But if they didn't act, the consequences would only grow worse...
Caleb glanced at Caitlin. He could see her dilemma.
After a moment's thought, he asked, "Surely not all these noble families are corrupt, right?"
Caitlin was silent for a mom, then said, "I don't know."
"Alright," Caleb sighed, "This is going to be tough..."
As he spoke, he unclipped a Poké Ball from his belt. With a flash of light, Mewtwo materialized in the interrogation room.
"Time to get to work again," Caleb said, nodding toward the man still sitting on the floor.
Mewtwo understood instantly. In a split second, he swept through the man's mind with his psychic force and projected the extracted memories directly into Caleb's mind.
Caitlin watched quietly from the side.
After a long moment, Caleb slowly opened his eyes and turned to Caitlin, "Well… things just got a lot more interesting. Team Plasma is involved too."
In short; Yamamoto Takashi, head of the Yamamoto family, was a hardcore Dragon-type enthusiast obsessed with powerful Dragon Pokémon.
His original plan was to collect every Dragon-type in the world, hoping to build a pet park to house them all.
But three months ago, Team Plasma approached him.
They told him the Unova legend of the 'Tao Trio' was real, and that the three most powerful Dragons in existence were currently dormant.
To awaken them, they'd need massive amounts of pure Dragon-type aura.
As a die-hard dragon fanboy, Takashi couldn't resist. He immediately partnered with Team Plasma.
In return, Team Plasma provided him with machines capable of extracting both aura and vitality from Pokémon, then departed.
Ever since, the fickle Takashi had launched a full-scale operation, hiring people worldwide to hunt down every Dragon-type they could find.
It was a grand spectacle. The stage was nearly set. Soon, the show would begin.
Caitlin's delicate brows had been furrowed the entire time. She gritted her teeth in fury and said, "How could they do this?!"
Caleb also found it utterly monstrous, but his past experiences helped him stay calm, "His memories didn't include Takashi's current location. Aside from what I just told you, we've got nothing else."
They had no further intel on Team Plasma, or no clue where the Three Dragons lay dormant.
Caitlin took a deep breath and said, "I'll contact Grimsley, Alder and the others."
Grimsley was another Unova Elite Four member. Alder was the Unova League Champion.
"Alright," Caleb nodded, "I'll go chat with the folks outside."
