Chapter 262 - Chapter 261: The Power of Bonds

The crimson flames were completely blocked by a wall of light composed of psychic power. Waves of intense heat rolled and swept away in both directions.

Caleb asked, "Can you take it down in one hit?"

Mewtwo gave a simple affirmative hum, then raised his other hand. An invisible psychic force immediately enveloped Moltres.

Under the terrifying pressure of the psychic squeeze, Moltres let out a painful cry. Its offensive abruptly halted, and even the flames on its head, tail, and wing edges became noticeably weaker.

Watching this scene, Caleb almost whistled in amazement, 'Mewtwo is simply OP.'

However, the battle wasn't over yet.

Ensnared by the psychic force, Moltres struggled fiercely. But Mewtwo's power was a sheer force of superiority. This kind of suppression was equivalent to Ho-oh's over Suicune, or Arceus's over Dialga.

Still, Moltres did not give up.

To be precise, this Moltres had no consciousness of its own. It was merely an individual entity replicated by the Infinite World based on some Instance, one devoid of emotions in its mind. It was a complete war machine that only knew to attack challengers.

Because of this, Mewtwo's overwhelming pressure meant nothing to it.

It let out a piercing cry, and in the next second, raging flames erupted from its body, shooting skyward.

As if possessing a consciousness of their own, these flames seemed completely unaffected by the psychic force. They transformed into a large bird-shaped blaze and lunged toward Mewtwo.

That was the Fire-type move, Burn Up!

- Burn Up: The user burns its entire body with flames to inflict significant damage on the opponent, but after use, its Fire-type attribute temporarily disappears...

This was undoubtedly the Moltres' final counterattack.

Caleb glanced at Mewtwo. Coincidentally, Mewtwo also looked at him at that moment.

Before Caleb could speak, a blue light gleamed in Mewtwo's eyes. He nodded at Caleb and hummed.

In the next second, Teleport activated. A tidal wave of psychic power carried Caleb to another location.

Watching as Moltres lost its ability to battle and vanished into a beam of white light, Caleb paused and looked at Mewtwo.

>..Hmm?..<

Mewtwo tilted his head in confusion, then asked: >..Weren't you going to tell me to use Teleport just now? I merely responded in advance..<

Hearing this, Caleb was taken aback. He had indeed been about to say that, but he hadn't actually spoken yet!

"How did you know what I was going to say?" He asked.

Mewtwo fell silent for a moment before explaining: >..Because I knew you would think of using Teleport in this kind of situation..<

It had been like that back in that world. Mewtwo could employ methods similar to mental control, which included erasing a target's memories, reading consciousness, and so on.

These actions weren't complicated for Mewtwo. If he wanted to, he could execute them.

Some had said Mewtwo was a Pokémon with limitless potential. Therefore, after parting with Caleb, driven by longing for him, Mewtwo developed the ability to immerse his consciousness into preserved memories, building upon his memory-reading capabilities.

During those years, apart from exploring the new world, Mewtwo remained dormant somewhere, his consciousness revisiting the times he had spent with Caleb.

Even Mewtwo himself didn't know how many times he had repeated this. He only knew that staying by this human's side made him feel very at peace...

Hearing this, Caleb was momentarily speechless. He thought to himself, 'Is this the powerful bond between humans and Pokémon?'

It was so powerful, that not a single word was needed. Just through eye contact, they could understand each other's thoughts.

But the term 'bond' was incredibly cheesy. Caleb was content to let it dwell in his thoughts; saying it out loud would just be too cringe.

Mewtwo didn't say more. He turned his head and cast his gaze toward the second island.

With the Flame bird defeated, it was now the Electric bird's turn...

Exactly four minutes had passed since the two entered the Instance.

And this was where the difficulty of the second tier of the Extreme Realm lay. If players couldn't defeat Moltres within four minutes, they would subsequently have to face both Moltres and Zapdos simultaneously.

Similarly, Articuno, the Freeze Pokémon, would appear five minutes after Zapdos.

This meant players had to defeat the first two Pokémon within six minutes. If they failed, the consequence awaiting them would be a combined assault from the three Legendary Birds.

Fighting one against three, and with the enemies being Pokémon holding divine roles... if it were an average player, they might never clear this tier.

"Here comes Zapdos..."

Looking at the yellow-feathered Pokémon flying toward them, Caleb used Appraise on it. In the next second, a familiar interface popped up:

[Zapdos: The Lightning Deity. A Legendary Pokémon inhabiting the Thunder Island. It uses powerful lightning to attack enemies. After defeating it, players have a chance to obtain the following rewards:

- Character Card (Zapdos): 1%

- Pokémon Egg(Zapdos): 0.01%

- Gacha Draw: 1%

- Electric-type TM(Choice): 10%

- Thunder Stone: 10%

- Light Ball: 15%

- Random S-grade item: 20%...]

Mewtwo asked: >..Shall we act now?..<

Caleb nodded, "Let's do it. Let's finish early and go to the next tier."

Receiving the instruction, Mewtwo defeated Zapdos using the same method he had used to defeat Moltres.

Soon, Zapdos lost its ability to battle, transforming into a beam of white light and vanishing from the area.

After Zapdos, it was Articuno's turn.

Three minutes later, Articuno joined the ranks of the defeated Legendary Birds.

At this moment, Caleb felt for the first time the importance of having a powerful Pokémon by his side. Mewtwo's presence would greatly reduce his unnecessary troubles...

With Articuno's defeat, the challenge of the second layer officially concluded:

*Ding!*

[Extreme Realm Hell Chapter Tier 2 cleared!]

[Successfully defeated opponent. Time taken: 9 minutes 32 seconds.]

[Rewards: , , , , have been distributed to the player's inventory!]

"Nice!" Caleb looked delightedly at the new items in his inventory.

Although some were temporarily useless to him, they were great for collection.

The Articuno Character Card could be used to summon Articuno for help. However, Caleb didn't have an Articuno, so he couldn't fuse with the card's ability like with Celebi. Therefore, after five uses, the Articuno Character Card would disappear.

The Light Ball was a held item for Pokémon, but only Pikachu could use it. When held, it increases the power of Pikachu's Attack and Special Attack.

As for the Fire-type TM and the Ice Stone, Caleb had no use for them for the time being, so he simply placed them together with the Light Ball in a corner of his inventory, planning to take them out when needed.

Besides these, only the two gacha draws remained.

Caleb thought for a moment and decided to leave these two rare draws for Dragonite to handle...
