Author's POV
The teacher's whole body trembled at Alistair's tone as he walked toward him, step by step, slowly and deliberately, with warning in each step forward.
His presence alone was enough to make everyone there freeze.
"Do you think I'm dead?" Alistair's voice was low, but his tone was dangerous enough for people to choke on their breath.
"Does having a brother make her an orphan?" he asked, his jaw tightening, as fury flashed in his dark eyes.
"How dare you make such a filthy remark about a girl whom you didn't even know? How could you!?"
The teacher couldn't meet his eyes. He tried to step back, but Alistair moved forward again, refusing to give him space to hide.
"She's a student, and yet you raised your hand at her and mocked her? What kind of teacher does that?" Alistair growled. "If you've forgotten your place, I'll be glad to remind you."
The tension in the room was so thick that it was getting hard for everyone to make a sound, let alone breathe.
