"A Reunion in the Desert"
The evening descending upon the desert was bringing with it the fading beauty of the setting sun. The golden light spreading across the horizon was slowly growing dimmer, while the gentle shadows of evening began to settle over the vast sea of sand.
Here and there, the footprints of camels had left their silent stories upon the sand. In other places, the tracks of bike tires stretched far into the distance. And somewhere, the footprints of two people seemed to walk side by side, as though the desert itself had become a witness to their journey.
Ramish had ridden the bike back toward the bike area. After getting off, Richer paused for a moment and looked at the vast desert surrounding them. Ramish also got off and stood beside him.
The two of them left the bike area and began walking toward their car.
Their clothes had become dusty from playing in the sand, running around, and riding the bikes. Their hair was tousled, and faint traces of desert dust were visible on their faces. Yet despite all of that, there was a carefree happiness on both their faces—perhaps something they had not experienced in a very long time.
They were walking ahead, talking to each other, when they noticed two people approaching the bike area from the opposite direction, holding hands.
Ramish and Richer paid little attention to them.
But just as the two passed near them, one of them suddenly stopped.
He turned around in surprise and called out,
"Ramish!"
The moment Ramish heard his name, he stopped.
He immediately turned around.
The next moment, a look of astonishment appeared on his face, followed by a happiness so intense that it seemed to erase all his exhaustion in an instant.
Mehmat was standing there.
And beside him was Zuraiz.
"Mehmat!"
Ramish almost ran toward him, opening his arms to embrace his friend.
But Mehmat immediately stepped back.
"Forgive me, Ramish… but just look at the state you're in."
He said it with a laugh.
"You need to clean yourself up and change your clothes first."
Ramish looked down at his clothes and laughed helplessly.
"Yeah… I guess I do."
Then he looked at Mehmat again.
The happiness on his face was still unmistakable.
"But what are you doing here?"
Mehmat smiled.
"You know I'm spending my vacation with Zuraiz. We thought we'd enjoy a Desert Safari too, so we came here."
Ramish's face brightened even more.
"That's great. You made the right decision coming here."
As he said this, he extended his hand toward Zuraiz.
Zuraiz smiled, shook his hand, and then glanced at Ramish's messy hair and dusty clothes.
"I think you're having quite a lot of fun here… especially with Richer."
Then he looked at Richer with a slightly mischievous expression.
"Am I right?"
Mehmat looked at Richer in surprise.
Then, as if he had suddenly realized something, his eyes widened slightly.
"You… are Richer?"
Richer nodded with a faint smile.
Mehmat immediately said,
"I didn't recognize you at all. Sorry, but I think you two have had a little too much fun in the desert."
Ramish immediately laughed.
"It's all my doing. I'm the one who kept dragging him around the desert. That's why we both ended up looking like this."
Zuraiz smiled.
"So, what is there to be worried about? Sometimes, you have to listen to your heart too."
As Richer listened to them, he smiled gently and stepped forward, shaking hands first with Mehmat and then with Zuraiz.
Mehmat looked at Richer and asked,
"How has your trip been so far? With Ramish?"
Richer looked at Ramish for a moment.
Then he simply answered,
"It's been good."
Only two words.
But Ramish could feel that there was so much hidden behind them.
Zuraiz asked,
"So, are you heading to the Desert Safari now?"
"Yes, absolutely,"
Ramish replied immediately.
"That's where we're going."
Zuraiz smiled.
"Then that's perfect. We'll see you there again in a little while."
"Definitely."
Ramish replied.
Mehmat glanced at Richer, then gently took hold of Ramish's arm and led him a little farther away.
Once they were at a short distance, he asked in a low voice,
"Ramish… has Richer accepted your love?"
Ramish remained silent for a few moments.
There was concern in Mehmat's eyes.
"How are things between the two of you? Is everything okay? Is there any problem?"
A faint smile appeared on Ramish's lips.
"We'll talk about everything in detail when we meet at the Desert Safari. For now, go enjoy your ride with Zuraiz. Then we'll sit down and talk."
Mehmat studied him carefully, as though trying to read an answer from his face.
Then he gave a small smile.
"Okay."
Meanwhile, Zuraiz turned his attention toward Richer.
"How are you? Have you had any problems during the trip? If you need anything, please don't hesitate to let me know."
Richer replied politely,
"I'm fine. Thank you for asking."
Ramish looked toward Mehmat.
"Then we'll see you at the Desert Safari."
"Okay."
Mehmat replied.
The two friends came back toward the others.
Ramish looked at Zuraiz and said,
"It genuinely makes me happy to see the two of you together."
"I hope we'll all spend some time together at the Desert Safari and have a great time."
Zuraiz looked at Richer and said with a faint smile,
"We don't mind… but won't that interfere with the time you two have alone?"
Richer immediately smiled.
"No… I'd actually be happy."
Ramish looked at Richer.
That single sentence brought a soft warmth to his heart.
"Then it's settled. We'll see you at the Desert Safari."
The two of them shook hands with Mehmat and Zuraiz before slowly making their way toward their car.
After they had walked some distance, Richer instinctively glanced toward Ramish.
The desert wind was still playing with their tousled hair.
Only a short while ago, they had both been lost in their own worlds, consumed by their questions and confusion.
But today, in the vastness of the desert, they had unexpectedly found something familiar in the form of an old friend.
Somewhere across the desert sand, the footprints of friendship were being left behind…
And somewhere, two hearts, unaware of the countless questions hidden within them, were perhaps moving toward a new kind of closeness.
But where would this closeness lead them…
That secret was still hidden beyond the horizon, just like the setting sun of the desert evening.
