Chapter 76 - The Miracle of Love

"The Day He Laughed Again"

The soft golden light of the sun spread across the endless sands of the desert. It felt as though the sun had spread its golden blanket over the entire valley of the desert. The distant sand dunes were bathed in sunlight, while gentle gusts of wind carried grains of sand through the air, creating a mesmerizing scene.

Ramish and Richer walked side by side toward the rides.

Richer's eyes suddenly fell upon the camels, where some people were enjoying camel rides. A childlike happiness immediately appeared on his face.

Looking at Ramish, he said,

"Ramish, we're going to ride a camel first."

Ramish nodded with a faint smile.

"Yes, of course."

Ramish had barely finished speaking when Richer took his hand and began pulling him toward the camels.

There was such happiness on his face, as though he were suddenly watching an old dream come true.

When they reached the camel, Ramish extended his hand toward Richer.

"Come, Richer. I'll help you get on."

Richer quietly placed his hand in Ramish's.

Supporting him, Ramish helped him onto the camel and then climbed up behind him.

The camel handler looked at them and asked,

"Are you both ready for the ride?"

Leaning slightly toward Richer, Ramish asked,

"Richer, are you ready? Shall we go?"

Richer nodded excitedly.

"Yes!"

The camel first stretched out its front legs as it prepared to stand, causing Richer's body to suddenly lean forward. At that very moment, Ramish immediately wrapped his arms firmly around him.

"Richer, there's nothing to be afraid of. I'm here."

The camel raised its hind legs next, and within moments, it was standing at its full height.

A small cry escaped Richer involuntarily, but the moment he felt Ramish's strong arms wrapped securely around him, all his fear seemed to disappear somewhere into the distance.

The camel began walking slowly across the soft desert sand.

Its feet pressed into the sand, leaving one footprint after another behind.

And perhaps the two hearts riding upon it were leaving their own footprints as well—marks that would not remain on the sand for very long, but might become etched into their hearts forever.

Richer quietly looked at the desert stretching before them.

Did love always have to be expressed through words?

Or could simply having a certain person beside you sometimes become the most beautiful expression of love?

The wind moving with the camel's gentle pace brushed against Richer's face. Suddenly, he stretched his arms slightly outward and said,

"Ramish… I've always wanted to open both my arms and feel as though I'm a bird flying freely through these winds."

Ramish smiled.

"Then open your arms. Feel as free as you want to."

Richer immediately looked around.

"But… what will everyone say?"

Ramish gently shook his head.

"If you keep worrying about what people will say, you might spend your whole life losing beautiful moments like this."

With that, Ramish opened both his arms as well.

"Enjoy these winds, Richer. Look… I'm here beside you, like a shelter protecting you."

Richer looked at Ramish for a moment before slowly opening both his arms completely.

The wind played with his clothes and hair.

There was a freshness on his face that Ramish perhaps had not seen in a very long time.

He did not look like a famous actor anymore.

He looked like someone who had, for a few precious moments, been freed from all the responsibilities, fears, and confusion of the world.

Ramish's heart filled with peace as he watched him.

Laughing, he said,

"Richer, you should scream a little like a child with your arms open. Believe me, it'll be fun."

Richer immediately shook his head.

"No… this is enough. I don't think I can do that."

Ramish said nothing.

He simply intertwined his fingers with Richer's and suddenly shouted with pure happiness,

"Yee-hawww! Yee-hawww!"

Richer burst into laughter.

"Ramish! Stop… people are looking at us."

Ramish said playfully,

"Now it's your turn, Richer."

"No."

"Richer…"

"No, Ramish!"

"Just once."

Richer refused two or three times, but then it was as though he silenced one of the fears inside him for a few moments.

He took a deep breath.

And then, with all the courage he could gather, he shouted,

"Yee-hawww!"

Ramish burst out laughing as well.

Then the two of them began shouting together.

Their voices echoed through the quiet desert air for a while.

The moment may have been small, but for Richer, it meant so much.

It felt as though that one little act of mischief had awakened a happiness buried deep inside him.

When the camel ride ended, Ramish climbed down first and then extended his hand toward Richer.

"Come."

Richer took his hand and slowly climbed down.

Happiness was still spread across his face.

Laughing, he said,

"Ramish, I really enjoyed the ride… and the screaming too. Thank you."

Ramish smiled.

"I enjoyed riding the camel with you too. But stop thanking me again and again. Whatever I can do for you, I will do… and I will do it with all my heart."

Richer looked at Ramish for a few moments before slowly nodding.

"I know."

They began walking toward the other rides again.

After a few steps, Ramish suddenly asked,

"Richer, have you ever run across a desert of sand? Or have you ever played in the sand?"

Richer looked at him in surprise.

"This is my first time coming to the desert with you. So how could I have ever experienced something like that?"

A mischievous spark immediately appeared in Ramish's eyes.

"Then we try it now."

Richer looked at him for a moment and then turned his gaze away.

"I think the manager is calling us. We should go."

Ramish laughed.

"No. I think we definitely need to try this."

"No, Ramish. Our clothes will get dirty."

"Then we'll change."

Ramish paused for a moment and looked at him.

"But we may never get this moment again."

Before Richer could say anything, Ramish suddenly made a playful move toward him.

"Ramish!"

Laughing, Richer began running ahead.

"Richer, wait!"

"Catch me if you can!"

The two of them began running across the golden desert sand like children.

Their footprints appeared in the sand, only to be erased moments later by gentle gusts of wind.

Eventually, Ramish caught Richer.

Laughing, they stumbled onto the sand, and Ramish held him tightly in his arms.

The next moment, they both fell onto the sand.

Richer was on top of Ramish, while Ramish held him securely in his arms.

Then, playfully, Ramish began rolling himself slowly across the sand.

Sometimes he ended up on top, sometimes he sank into the sand. Sometimes Richer was on top, and sometimes the two of them rolled through the sand, laughing uncontrollably.

It felt as though, in the middle of the desert, two grown men had forgotten their age, their responsibilities, and their entire world for a few moments and had become children again.

Eventually, Richer grew tired from laughing.

"Enough, Ramish… I'm tired!"

Ramish stopped.

The two of them lay side by side on the sand.

Their breathing was heavy, but their faces carried a happiness that needed no words.

For a few moments, they remained silent.

Then Ramish looked toward Richer and asked,

"How did you like it?"

Richer looked at him with a laugh.

"You suddenly turn into such a mischievous child."

Ramish looked deeply at him for a few moments.

"Didn't you like it, Richer?"

For a moment, Richer held Ramish's gaze.

This time, there was no mischief in his smile.

There was something strangely sincere about it.

"I really enjoyed it."

He remained quiet for a while before softly continuing,

"Today… I think I laughed openly, from my heart, for the first time in years… and it was only because of you, Ramish."

A quiet smile spread across Ramish's lips.

He said nothing.

Perhaps no words could ever have been enough to answer a sentence like that.

The desert remained just as silent in its vastness.

But something inside the two of them was changing.

Perhaps they had left many of the questions traveling with them behind for a little while.

Perhaps Richer had found his lost happiness somewhere among those grains of golden sand.

Or perhaps…

in the endless vastness of the desert, two hearts had simply moved a little closer to each other.

So close that love had not yet fully become words…

but its presence had begun to be felt.
