Their faces showed disbelief; they couldn't even scream before turning into icy statues and plummeting from the sky.

Although Arthas had annihilated them, it would take time for reinforcements to arrive.
By then, Asia should be able to defend herself. Rias had said Asia was a talented devil; once she mastered her divine artifact, she would be nearly invincible.

"Rias? What are you doing here so late?" Arthas looked at Rias emerging from the magic circle, unsurprised by her frequent visits.
Usually, Rias would sneak into his bed while he was asleep, surprising him in the morning. This was the first time she'd come while he was still awake.
"Arthas, hug me."
"Huh?"
Arthas paused, before Rias moved with surprising speed, embracing him.
