This was the first time Arthas truly saw the weapon, not just as a figment of his imagination.
It actually existed… it wasn't a hallucination.
The room was silent; everyone was awestruck by the greatsword in Arthas's hand.
It wasn't just the overwhelming pressure it exuded, but also the chilling aura that made breathing difficult.
This divine artifact… is it really not a Divine Destroyer?
Rias thought this, then murmured as if in a dream.
"What's this weapon… called?"
"Its name?"
A moment of confusion flashed across Arthas's face, then he slowly replied.
"Frostmourne."
"Frostmourne?"
Rias repeated the name, a murmur.
Looking at Arthas's indifferent expression, a pang of sorrow struck her heart, as if it were being squeezed tightly.
She wanted to hold him and comfort him, but the longsword in his hand made it difficult.
"You must keep the existence of this artifact a secret, Arthas. If the fallen angels discover it, you'll still be in danger. You're probably no match for them yet."
Rias said, and Arthas nodded lightly, although he actually wanted to see what these fallen angels were like.
His knowledge of this world's mystical powers was still limited, which wasn't helpful for his plans.
Devils were just the beginning; he needed to contact angels and fallen angels as well.
With Souna, he had a student council position. With Rias, he was essentially idle.
After the meeting, Rias dismissed everyone, and school continued as usual.
His task as a devil familiar was… distributing flyers.
According to Rias, she needed to quickly find familiars willing to make pacts with devils because she had far fewer familiars than Souna. The ranking games were approaching, and this would put her at a disadvantage.
Of course, Rias didn't make Arthas distribute flyers.
He was a devil reincarnated with eleven pieces—Souna and Rias's prized possession.
Since the identity of the fallen angel who attacked him was unknown, they decided to keep him low-profile for safety.
However, only Arthas knew that the fallen angel story was entirely fabricated.
But according to Rias and Souna, because he possessed a divine artifact… the fallen angels would eventually come looking for him, right?
Should he… intentionally release Frostmourne's power and lure them out?
As Arthas pondered this, a couple caught his attention. They seemed ordinary, but both the man and woman exuded an unusual aura.
The man's aura was familiar; if he remembered correctly, he'd felt it from Azi—the aura of a dragon.
As for the woman…
Looking at the smiling girl, Arthas frowned. She gave him a very uncomfortable feeling, like seeing a natural enemy.
Why this strange feeling?
Arthas was surprised, but he was certain they weren't ordinary people. And if he wasn't mistaken, the man possessed a divine artifact.
Remembering Rias's words about gathering companions, Arthas considered recruiting the boy.
He'd follow them for now; that woman was rather unsettling.
With that, Arthas followed the couple, leaving the school.
Like an ordinary couple, they strolled and shopped, reluctantly parting ways at dusk.
Everything was normal, beautiful, like a romance drama.
Black wings gently fluttered, whispering of unspoken decadence and nobility. What unfolded before Issei Hyoudou was utterly incomprehensible.
Suddenly confessed to by an unfamiliar beautiful girl, then a date—everything was dreamlike, but… it quickly changed.
The farewell at the fountain square at dusk—a romantic setting.
A loving farewell kiss would have been wonderful, right?
The smiling girl before him said, "Would you mind dying?"—dangerous words.
"Wh… what…? Am I hearing things, Yuuma-san?" Issei Hyoudou looked at the beautiful girl with incomprehension.
"No… I mean, I'd like you to die."
The smiling girl's black wings sprouted behind her, fluttering. She looked down at Issei Hyoudou.
Her gentle gaze turned cold and terrifying, the gaze of a superior being looking down on an inferior, devoid of mercy.
"I'm so sorry. Our little game was rather fun, but unfortunately, you're an uncontrollable factor for us.
So, I think… it's best to kill you." Unlike Yuuma's gentle voice, the girl, transformed into a fallen angel, spoke with a mature, seductive tone. A cold smile played on her lips.
A spear of light materialized in Yuuma's hand.
There was no way to dodge. Like light, before his mind could react, his body was filled with intense pain.
His body… was pierced. He fell uncontrollably, his blood flowing freely.
He heard footsteps—Yuuma's footsteps.
"Blame the god who placed the divine artifact in your body." Yuuma spoke incomprehensible words before disappearing.
The darkness lifted, revealing the fountain square at dusk. Everything was normal, as if nothing had happened, except for Issei Hyoudou, blood gushing from his body.
