Kuro Usagi's already pale face grew even whiter at Sakamaki Izayoi's reckless words.
She lacked the energy to be angry or scold him, only trembling as she whispered,
"No… don't… you'll die!"
Sakamaki Izayoi, usually fearless, sensed something was wrong. He could laugh off Kuro Usagi's angry outbursts, but this terrified, almost suffocating reaction was different.
"Who… exactly are they?"
He frowned, but received no answer. Azi broke the silence.
"Mmm… Canaria told me. No Name is quite interesting."
It was unclear if she was laughing or being sarcastic as she stepped closer.
As she approached, Sakamaki Izayoi's expression changed. He began to understand Kuro Usagi's "no, you'll die."
A suffocating pressure bore down on him, making him feel like he would suffocate and kneel.
His knees cracked ominously under the immense pressure. Though he didn't kneel, he paid a heavy price. His knees shattered, the blood freezing into dark red shards before it could flow.
"Th… this my lady, please forgive Sakamaki Izayoi's rudeness!"
Seeing Sakamaki Izayoi's condition, Kuro Usagi panicked, abandoning hope of getting Leticia back. She just wanted to protect her companions.
"Arrogance isn't bad if you have the strength, but excessive pride is stupidity, especially when facing someone you don't understand."
Passing Sakamaki Izayoi, Azi said, then stopped before Arthas.
Due to the height difference, she had to look up at him. Even so, Arthas felt immense pressure.
It was indescribable, not fear, but like seeing a natural enemy, an irresistible urge to flee.
Why? This was their first meeting, right?
"You want that little vampire? I can give her to you."
Just as Kuro Usagi despaired, Azi spoke.
"Re… really, my lady?!"
Kuro Usagi exclaimed, overjoyed. She'd been ready to give up, just wanting everyone to survive, but Azi's words gave her hope.
"Indeed. I'm not unreasonable. Since that little vampire is your companion, returning her isn't impossible. But there's a price."
Hearing "price," Kuro Usagi regained her composure. They were Demon Lords—capricious beings who did as they pleased. How could they be so lenient?
It was like Laius's offer—sacrificing one for another.
"Then… my lady, what is the price?!"
Kuro Usagi calmly stared at Azi, who smiled softly.
"Simple… I want him."
Though Arthas was backing away, Azi stood close. Due to the height difference, she had to look up at him.
This pose, combined with her gentle smile, might seem cute, but Arthas felt no such thing.
He'd almost succumbed to his desires with Leticia, but he felt no such urges towards Azi; only fear.
What… is happening?! Who is this girl? Why do I feel this way about her?
Before Arthas could react, Azi tiptoed, her arms around his neck.
"Are you stupid? Don't you know how to bend down?"
Azi said petulantly. Her attitude was enigmatic, but this wasn't the time to ponder it.
To others, this might be a stroke of luck, but Arthas wanted to escape.
"No! That's the same as giving up on Leticia-sama! Trading one companion for another!"
Kuro Usagi interrupted, and Azi frowned, her tail swaying restlessly.
Arthas didn't bend, so Azi tiptoed, clinging to him like a koala.
"Don't misunderstand. I'm not asking; I'm telling you my decision. As a Demon Lord, my decision is final!"
Azi laughed, her movements forcing Arthas to bend. Satisfied, she nodded.
"He's mine now. Of course, I welcome your resistance. To reclaim your important companion, come to 357 Outer Gate in the Third Outer Layer. The Scourge Legion… awaits your arrival!"
Azi gestured to Canaria, who tossed the still-petrified Leticia to Kuro Usagi.
"Th… Third Outer Layer… Scourge Legion?!"
Kuro Usagi, pale, whispered the name. Sakamaki Izayoi and the others didn't fully understand, but Kuro Usagi knew the commonality's terror.
It was a commonality composed entirely of Demon Lords… a legitimate organization in Little Garden!
