Azi's words initially brought a gleam of delight to Laius's face, quickly replaced by confusion at her follow-up statement.
No life to enjoy it? What a joke! Even the most virtuous woman would be tamed under his control. He wanted to see how long this ice queen could hold out.
Mid-thought, his face contorted in terror as a sharp pain pierced his chest.
It felt like his body was being torn apart, and the next moment, he felt nothing at all, the source of the pain completely frozen.
"Aaah…!!! Aaaaaah!! What did you do?! What did you do?! My arm!"
Nothing visible had happened. Laius's screams threw his knights into chaos, but they saw nothing. The two girls stood motionless, and Laius's arm was already ruined.
"How unpleasant. Like a duck quacking."
Azi smirked, a mocking smile playing on her lips. Canaria remained cold and silent.
Though he didn't know what happened, Laius knew the two women were responsible. He immediately ordered his men.
"Damn it! Seize them! Are you all idiots?!" Numbness had overtaken his arm, and Laius roared, pointing at the two girls.
Only then did the stunned knights realize their leader had been attacked, his arm crippled.
The knights charged, weapons raised, but before they could shout a battle cry, they froze in place.
Laius witnessed the entire process: a pale color spread from their feet, slowly turning them into ice sculptures.
It happened as naturally as breathing. By the time Laius reacted, all the 'Perseus' knights were immobile ice statues.
"Really… why are the men in this world so stupid? If you were smarter, you wouldn't have ended up like this."
Azi shook her head regretfully, revealing her hidden features.
First, the small horns on her head, then her restless, swaying dragon tail.
"You… you… a pure-blooded dragon?!"
Seeing Azi's true form, Laius realized the being before him.
"Ah, you're not completely stupid, but you realized it too late."
Azi shook her head regretfully. Laius cursed inwardly. You hid your features; how could anyone know you were a pure-blooded dragon?! If I'd known, I would have treated you with utmost respect, never daring to have such thoughts!
"W-wait, even if you're a pure-blooded dragon, I'm a 'Thousand Eyes' executive! If you kill me, you'll face 'Thousand Eyes' endless retaliation!"
Regret was useless; survival was paramount.
"Ignorance is bliss. Besides, you've given me sufficient punishment. You crippled my arm; what more do you want?! If you want the vampire, I'll give her to you for free."
"Oh… that's tempting."
Seeing Azi nod slightly, Laius breathed a sigh of relief. He'd suffered a major loss, but at least he'd saved his life.
'Thousand Eyes' wouldn't avenge him against a pure-blooded dragon. There was a small chance, but as long as he lived, there would be opportunities. Death meant nothing.
Analyzing calmly, Laius made his proposal.
He believed they wouldn't kill him. It was a verbal conflict; he hadn't gone too far. Killing him to avoid offending 'Thousand Eyes' would be unwise.
They wouldn't kill him! Laius was confident, but he seemed to have overlooked something: Demon Lords acted without reason.
Before Laius could fully relax, a deadly killing intent approached.
A sound like a sonic boom echoed as frost swirled in the air. The air before him froze and shattered.
Canaria paused; her attack had been blocked.
"Ra...…Ra, GEYAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaa!!!" A roar, inhuman in its intensity.
A brown beam of light bloomed before Laius, revealing the creature that had blocked the attack.
The woman was covered in restraints and straps. The monstrous, disheveled gray hair of what could hardly be considered a woman stood on end as she screamed. Suddenly, the straps binding her arms snapped, and she screamed again, her upper body arching backward.
"You really think I'm a pushover, you bastard! Awaken… the Demon Lord Algol. Kill them!"
Roaring, Laius stood up, clutching his shattered arm.
Azi showed interest in the suddenly appearing Star Spirit-level Demon Lord.
If ranked, Star Spirits would be at the apex of Little Garden's three strongest races, the other two being relatively equal. This isn't about combat ability, but because Star Spirits have nothing to do with the origin of humanity; their existence is inevitable. This is the unknown world. To completely kill a Star Spirit, one needs a technique that can destroy infinite worlds; otherwise, it's impossible.
But Star Spirits also have different levels of power. Algol, for example, is no longer a pure Star Spirit but a fallen, enslaved deity.
As for deities… consider the Serpent God whom Arthas had beaten. How laughable.
