Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 1

Feng Xiao stood on the mountaintop near Yunhai. Her hair danced with the wind's movement as she practiced controlling the air with her hands. Her eyes focused on the flying leaves and manipulated their movement.

Xiao sensed someone behind her and immediately released a strong gust of wind, but the person dodged it effortlessly.

"What's wrong, sister? You almost hit me!" Feng Ling complained, brushing off her clothes.

Feng Xiao returned a sweet smile. "I knew you'd dodge it. Why are you here?" she asked.

" Father is looking for you; you have a visitor," Feng Ling replied seriously.

Feng Xiao nodded as if she knew who the visitor was.

*Meanwhile*

Feng Yang sat at his desk, with paper in front of him and pen in hand. His eyes focused on the words he was writing. The door burst open, and Feng Mei suddenly entered the room with a smile on her face.

"Brother, what are you doing?" she asked, noticing the paper and pen on the desk.

Feng Yang looked at his sister with a hint of something. "Ah, nothing much. Just a... letter," he replied, trying to hide the paper.

"Who's it for?" Feng Mei asked, curiosity in her voice.

"Is it for your girlfriend?" Feng Yang chuckled softly, trying to conceal his emotions.

Feng Mei approached and tried to snatch the letter. "Let me see! Give it to me!" "No way, stay away!" Feng Yang said.

"Come on, brother, I'll just read it, I promise I won't tell anyone," Feng Mei said with a grin.

"I don't care if you tell anyone, I just don't want you to laugh at it," Feng Yang said.

"No, no, I promise," Mei said.

"I don't trust you; your grin is scary," Yang said, turning his back on his sister.

Feng Mei quickly snatched the letter and read it loudly while avoiding her brother's movements. She cleared her throat before reading the letter.

"My love—" she began.

"You're so sweet, brother!" Mei commented.

"Give it back to me, Mei!"

"'I'm eager to see you again, I want to behold your smile, and be with you even for a moment.' - What is this, brother? A message or a poem?" Mei asked, her brow furrowed.

"Give it back to me, I said!" Feng Yang exclaimed. Feng Mei laughed loudly, looking amazed.

"Brother, you're so good at writing poems!" she said.

Feng Yang rushed towards Feng Mei, trying to snatch the paper. "Give it back to me, Mei! You shouldn't have read that!" he said.

But Feng Mei quickly moved away, holding the paper above her head. "No way! I'm not done yet," she said.

Feng Yang raised his hand, and with a swift movement, the letter flew out of Mei's hand. Mei's face scrunched up.

"That's cheating!"

"What did you come here for?" Feng Yang asked, diverting the question.

Mei looked around and out the window before speaking in a whisper.

" Sister Xiao's fiancé is here with his family." Feng Yang looked at his sister.

"The Bai family is here? Where's our sister?" Yang asked .

"Ling went to get her; I left the hall because their faces were boring," Mei answered

Feng Yang shook his head at his sister's complaint. "You're so judgmental."

"It's true!" Mei retorted.

Feng Yang stood up and pulled his sister. "What's wrong, brother? Where are we going?" Mei complained.

"We're going back; it's a family-to-family discussion, so we should be there!"

When the siblings arrived at the hall, it was extremely quiet and formal. They paid their respects and immediately headed to their designated seats.

"Ah, excuse me!" Mei broke the silence.

"Do you have something to say, Mei?" their father, Master Lei, asked from the leader's seat.

"Oh, I think I just coughed loudly... Hehe," Mei reasoned.

"What's with you always trying to get attention?" Feng Yang whispered, rolling his eyes.

"Go ahead, Mei, say what you want to say; don't be shy," their father encouraged.

Mei straightened up and spoke, "Why haven't you started discussing the matter yet?"

The others looked away from Mei's question.

"I thought you had something important to say!" Bai Cheng, the brother of Feng Xiao's fiancé , Bai Jing, retorted boldly.

"You're always interrupting; I wasn't even talking to you," Mei shot back.

"Mei, your manner," their mother, Madam Yan, scolded.

"We haven't started because your sister isn't here yet," their father answered Mei's question.

Mei nodded and looked at Feng Ling, who was sitting after Feng Yang.

"Ling! Sister Ling!" Mei called softly.

Ling turned to her with narrowed eyes. "Where's our sister?" Mei asked.

"She's still getting ready," Ling replied simply.

"Is she really getting ready for that guy?" Mei said, referring to Bai Jing.

"Be quiet! She's getting ready to be presentable. Do you want her to look like you?" Feng Yang retorted.

"What's wrong with me? What do you mean?" Mei asked irritably.

"You look like a warrior!" Feng Yang said.

Feng Ling covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. Mei pouted.

"You're so mean! You're judgmental!" Mei said.

"It's true!" Feng Yang chimed in.

Feng Mei gave him a stern look.

Feng Xiao entered the hall with a smile on her lips. "Sorry for the delay," she said.

She noticed Bai Jing staring at her and smiled, bowing her head in respect. The others looked at her with admiration.

Bai Cheng, on the other hand, seemed uncomfortable staring at Feng Mei.

"Look at sister and Bai Jing; their smiles are so sweet," Feng Yang said to Ling and Mei.

"Are they just going to stare at each other?" Feng Ling whispered.

Mei stood up and approached Feng Xiao, smiling. "Sister, come sit here."

"Now that everyone is here, let's start discussing the wedding," Master Bai Yue, Bai Jing's father, said.

"What do you want to do for the wedding?" Master Feng Lei asked.

"I want the wedding to be simple, but there are still details to discuss," Madam Su, Master Bai Yue's wife, said.

"Let's ask the couple what they want," Madam Yan suggested.

"Bai Jing, son, tell us what you want for your wedding," Master Bai Yue said.

"Father, Mother, Master Feng, and Madam Yan, I don't know much about wedding customs, so I'll let Feng Xiao decide. Whatever she wants is fine with me," Bai Jing replied, smiling at Feng Xiao.

Feng Mei made a face at what she saw.

"I don't want to be involved in this," Mei whispered to Feng Yang.

"Be quiet," Feng Ling scolded, nudging Feng Yang, who nudged Mei.

"Tell us what you want, Lady Feng Xiao," Madam Su said.

"I want a traditional and simple wedding. For the designs and preparations, I'll leave those to you," Feng Xiao replied.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

"When will the wedding be held?" Master Yue asked.

"We can hold it in three months," Madam Su decided.

Some were pleased, while others were surprised.

"NO! NO WAY!" Mei objected, covering her mouth in embarrassment.

"Sit down! You're not getting married," Yang said, pulling Mei down.

"Did I speak loudly again?" Mei whispered to Yang.

"Control yourself, Mei. Have some shame," Ling said.

Everyone looked at Mei.

"Why not, Mei?" Feng Xiao asked concernedly.

"Well, sister, I'm just not used to you not being here," Mei pouted.

Bai Cheng spoke up, "Your reason is so shallow! Just say you don't want your sister to marry my brother!"

"Chengxi, control yourself!" Bai Jing scolded.

"I agree with my daughter, Mei," Madam Yan said.

"What do you mean, Yan?" Master Lei asked.

"We all know Xiao and Jing are still studying, so I think it's better to celebrate the wedding after they graduate. Do you agree, Xiao? Jing?" Madam Su explained.

Jing nodded. "I agree, Madam Su. Your reason makes sense."

"I agree too, Mother. Besides, Mei isn't used to me not being here," Xiao replied, looking at her sister with a long smile.

After the intense discussion, Master Feng Lei and Master Bai Yue stood up, signaling the end of the meeting.

"Thank you all for coming and for your suggestions," Master Feng Lei said.

The guests began to leave one by one.

As night fell, Feng Xiao remained awake in her room, recalling the private conversation she had with Bai Jing after the meeting. She couldn't help but smile to herself.

Bai Jing's words, his eyes, and his smile replayed in her mind.

"Do you want a simple wedding?" Bai Jing had asked.

"Yes, I want this day to be special for us. A simple wedding but full of love," Feng Xiao had replied.

"There are still many days before our wedding; I'm already excited," Bai Jing had said.

Feng Xiao had smiled sweetly. "It's not obvious that you're ready."

Thinking about those moments made her happy.

Suddenly, Feng Xiao's siblings entered her room with smiles on their faces.

"Sister, why are you still awake?" Mei asked, plopping down on Xiao's bed.

"I couldn't sleep," Feng Xiao replied.

"Are you thinking about something?" Feng Yang asked.

Feng Xiao smiled. "Are you thinking about Bai Jing?" he asked again.

Her siblings laughed.

"Why are you all here?" Xiao asked.

"Mei invited us to sleep here," Ling replied.

"Sister, are you really getting married?" Mei acted childishly.

"Mei, you're already grown up, but you still act like this," Yang scolded.

"Leave her alone; she's just being childish," Ling added.

Xiao smiled. "You shouldn't scold her like that."

"Look at them, sister. When you're gone, no one will protect me from these two," Mei said.

"Behave yourself. You act like this because sister is here to defend you," Yang said.

Xiao sighed, watching her playful and noisy siblings.

"Go to sleep! Move!" Ling said, pushing Mei.

"What's wrong, sister Ling? The bed is big enough! You can sleep on the side; I'll snuggle up with sister," Mei said.

The siblings chatted for a while before deciding to sleep.
