Chapter 128 - Chapter 128: Yamato: "I'll Take Care of Her!"

Seeing that Yamato had finally stopped acting stubborn (and had caved under his overwhelming dominance), Kaito nodded in satisfaction. As for her mention of "chivalry," he automatically filtered it out.

Chivalry? What the hell is that supposed to mean? That word doesn't even exist in his dictionary.

I, Uchiha Kaito—should care about gender when hitting people? Doesn't matter if you're Yamato or some old hag—if I want to hit you, I'll hit you. Wherever I want, however I want!

Yamato glared at Kaito with gritted teeth and shouted,

"Happy now!? Hmph! If it weren't for these damn handcuffs, I could've… could've lost with a bit more dignity!"

Kaito was once again left speechless by Yamato. How could someone sound so defiant while saying something so pathetic?

Still, what she said about the handcuffs did catch his attention. He'd been too busy disciplining her earlier and had completely forgotten that she was still wearing those explosive cuffs.

Time to talk about Kaido's parenting methods again. There's an old saying: Spare the rod, spoil the child. Well, Kaido took that philosophy to heart—and then some. Not only did he faithfully apply it, he leveled it up by strapping explosives onto his own daughter. No wonder he was called a "strict father." If there were a title for it, he'd wear it with pride.

Judging by the way things played out, his methods clearly had some results. Yamato's devotion to him practically exploded off the charts.

Can't even blame her. After seeing the blast radius of those handcuffs, she outright said Kaido must've been trying to kill her, which is why she'd always gone all out when fighting him.

Those cuffs weren't just explosive—they were probably laced with seastone too.

It didn't completely sap her strength or block her Devil Fruit powers entirely, but it definitely nerfed her. Looked like she couldn't fully transform into her beast form.

You could tell the difference once those cuffs were taken off later. Her combat performance practically doubled.

No wonder she had such a hard time. She'd endured beatings from Kaido since childhood, eaten a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, and still ended up in a stalemate against Ace, who was younger than her. Those cuffs were clearly to blame.

Thinking it over, Kaito snapped his fingers. ROOM.

A translucent hemispherical space expanded outward with Kaito at the center. Yamato scrambled up from the ground, grabbing her spiked club and clutching it tightly to her chest like it could ward off danger.

But Kaito clearly wasn't planning to attack her.

Technically, Kaito could've just crushed the cuffs with his hands—without any concern about the explosion.

Thanks to the Pop-Pop Fruit, he didn't just create explosions—he could control them. He could even cancel a blast right before detonation.

To do that, you needed lightning-fast reflexes, since catching the exact moment of ignition is no joke. But with the Rinnegan, that was child's play for him.

In short, whether it exploded or not was entirely up to his mood. This was just one of his little sadistic indulgences.

Kaito locked eyes on Yamato's cuffs. With a thought, the handcuffs were instantly swapped out—teleported into the air above.

Before Yamato could react, the cuffs detonated mid-air with a thunderous blast, the shockwave forming a literal mushroom cloud.

Kaito raised an eyebrow. Looks like he didn't throw them quite far enough—judging by that power, the shockwave was definitely going to reach them.

The explosion had already gone off, and even he couldn't cancel it now.

But inside the ROOM, Kaito controlled the space.

He quickly warped Kalifa to safety. Then, looking at Yamato still frozen like a statue, he shook his head and swapped her over to Kalifa's location too.

Kaito himself didn't move. This level of force wasn't enough to hurt him. Real men don't look back at explosions—Kaito chose to face it head-on.

...

Yamato, now safely transported some distance away, finally snapped out of her daze—breaking into a cold sweat.

After witnessing the handcuffs' detonation, she had been so shocked by Kaido's "fatherly love" that she froze up, completely defenseless in the blast radius.

Even though she wasn't exactly right next to it, she still would've taken serious damage. Being suddenly moved to safety… it had to be that man's doing.

If he could teleport the cuffs off her without her noticing, then teleporting a living person wasn't a stretch at all.

Then she saw Kalifa standing nearby and felt even more sure.

But where was he?

Thinking of Kaito, Yamato instinctively clutched her chest and scanned the area—only to witness him being swallowed by the shockwave in the distance.

Her pupils contracted.

That guy had saved her life.

Sure, his punches hurt like hell, but she didn't actually hate Kaito. She could sense he wasn't trying to kill her.

So why didn't he teleport himself out? Was it because moving her and that woman used up too much time?

That woman… she was probably close to him. Yamato could understand why he'd save her.

But why her?

Don't tell me… did he fall for me?! Yamato's face twisted into a look of panic at the thought.

Women—once they start thinking along those lines, logic goes straight out the window. Kaito, in truth, was just trying to make a dramatic exit.

Just ask Kalifa. She was standing there calm as could be. She knew this was just one of those "Uchiha dramatic episodes."

After spending so many years with Kaito, Kalifa might not know everything about the Uchiha clan, but this much she understood well: they loved to laugh maniacally. And the stronger they were, the worse the symptoms.

Sometimes they had this irresistible urge to show off. She'd even heard about a guy named Uchiha Sasuke who often got beaten senseless because of it.

If the gloomy Uchiha teens ever found out how Kalifa viewed their clan, Kaito might just get excommunicated on the spot.

Yamato, of course, knew none of this. She stared at the smoke cloud where Kaito had disappeared, then let out a deep sigh and said with a heavy voice,

"We may not be possible… but you did save my life. Rest easy—I'll take care of your woman!"

That line nearly gave Kalifa an aneurysm.

What the hell is wrong with her? she thought. Boss is already taking care of me just fine—why are you trying to butt in?

Yamato turned to Kalifa with a face full of conviction. A bead of cold sweat slid down Kalifa's temple.

She was already preparing to use Soru and vanish from this crazy woman's sight.

Fortunately, Kaito's voice rang out at just the right moment—though it carried a noticeable chill.

"You just said you'd take care of who, exactly?"
