Chapter 1: Reborn
This is the story of a man, a man so powerful he became ruler of his nation by just his willpower and strength, no blood, no connections, nothing. He was respected by a lot of people but feared by even more. The name of this man was... Renkai, King Renkai.
On one fateful day King Renkai was sitting on his throne getting treated and fed by his servants, but just when they all left the room he heard a rough voice coming from the shadows.
"King Renkai!"
"YES, WHO IS THERE??" King Renkai yelled.
"I am that which you fear the most, I am that which you thought was escapable, I am DEATH," the mysterious voice said.
"What? Is this some kind of prank? Come and face me if you dare. I AM KING REN–" his voice was cut off because in one clean slice Renkai had been killed.
Renkai woke up again, but this time on the floor in a fully white room. "WHERE AM I?" he yelled. He yelled again and again but no one answered. He soon realized that the person who called himself Death really did kill him. He wandered around for what felt like days in that white room, until eventually he did find something: a portal.
"I don't know what it will bring, but it will surely be better than whatever the hell this is," Renkai thought. And so Renkai stepped through the portal. Everything was black. Renkai wondered where he was, but then he saw light again—
but not just any light. He saw the sunlight again after so long.
"YES, I'M FINALLY FREE! But where am I now?" Renkai thought.
Then Renkai saw the faces of two people, a man and a woman. They called themselves: "Nico and Tomiko." Renkai wondered what was happening, thinking to himself: "What the hell?? Why can't I move my body? And how and why are they holding me??"
Soon they would also call him by a name: "Renjin." Renkai was obviously confused by this, but soon he would come to a terrifying discovery. When he looked in the mirror, all he saw was... was...
A BABY?
That's right. Renkai had been reborn, or turned into a baby, he finally realized. But even as a baby, Renkai—or "Renjin"—was only thinking about strength. And it all started when he saw his father do something unusual. First his father focused deeply, breathing in and out, and then—
"BOOM!!"
He exploded a rock with an attack of fire which came out of his hands???
The more Renjin studied his father, the more curious he became. So every night he would secretly go to his father's room and read books about this world's history. He learned more and more and discovered this world used something like "Magic." They themselves called the power "KI."
Renjin was a little bit familiar with a small part of this "KI" system because in his past world they used something called "energy"—basically, they used their inner power to strengthen their attacks, but they did not use spells nor elemental powers.
Soon he realized that if he wanted to keep up, he had to awaken his KI. He read that most people awaken it at around the ages 13 to 17, but because of his previous experience with the energy system from his old world, he knew he would be able to do it much more quickly.
Renjin soon also learned more about the elemental aspect of "KI." There were four main elements: Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. But some people who were really skilled could also use an extra element. For example, if you were a master of the fire element, you could maybe use lightning. And in some rare cases, there were people who could become masters of two elements instead of the usual one. However, this was very rare. And so in the next years of Renjin's life, even though he was a baby, he swore that he would read more and learn more about this world. And so his training—or well, learning—began.
