Chapter 42 - Choice

Elesia left without another word, flying toward her waiting opponent, a figure with his entire face being hidden under a dark mask. His eyes were glowing out of the presence of chaotic anger toward Elesia as he was glaring toward her.

Elesia stare toward his eyes as she was her gaze was gentle.

"I can still feel the rage in your eyes. I understand the reason, but I can't help with being your opponent," Elesia said.

"How could you, Miss Elesia? How could you join the demons that destroyed everything I had? How could you stand with the demons I hate the most, the ones who killed my family, my friends, my loved ones? How could you?" the man shouted, his tears appeared in eyes, forced to held back.

Elesia lowered her gaze and spoke up.

"I had to choose a side, and I did. How long will you stay blind, only believing what you can see with your eyes, Rowan?" Elesia asked.

"Hilarious choice. I'll never follow the side that only destroys, like the ones who destroyed my family and friends," Rowan spat, his smile seems to be twisted with sarcasm.

"We are at war between supreme authorities. We can't hate each other, it's a war we've fought for thousands of years. War is about survival and death. It's not about happiness. You either survive or die. You can't change your fated future." Elesia replied.

Elesia lift up his gaze and stare toward Rowan.

"It's the truth, and it always will be," Elesia replied.

"I don't care about false words that mean nothing compared to the souls of my loved ones. I will destroy anything and everything that stands as my enemy," Rowan said slowly, blinking multiple times.

He flew toward Elesia at high speed, swinging his sword at her neck. But his blade was blocked and shattered by an unknown force, the golden sword that was Elesia holding in, brimming with magic power. Her strike pierced his chest, leaving an incurable wound. Rowan collapsed to the ground.

As he collapsed in the ground, within few moments, his soul left his body. Elesia lowered her gaze, hiding the tears welling in her eyes as she covered them with her hands. She knelt down and placed her hand on Rowan's chest. A magic paper appeared and gently covered his chest along with the wound, leaving him for eternal rest.

On the other hand, Maria kept the way she was fighting against Raisa as she kept sending magic spells toward Raisa.

"No matter how many times you send your magic spells, I can cut the spells as much as I want, I won't stop." Raisa spoke up.

"Oh? So how about we end this quickly? I can feel the level of your capability, can see how far you can go." Maria replied.

Maria created a couple of magic circles covering herself. "I don't like to put myself in line of battle, but this time, I would like to be the one to show my force in the battle, show my own strength as a visual," Maria said.

Slowly, the magic circles revealed multiple natural elements. From the magic circle on her left side, an ice spell covered her and kept rotating around her. From the right side, an storm of lightning covered her, rotating like the other spell. Slowly, in some moments, both spells disappeared as they revealed a new form of Maria with two purple wings, her entire body sparking with a combination of ice and lightning. Brimming magic power kept her presence effective as the wind around her kept running wild.

"I've been a magic spell creating expert for a long time, it's not really hard for me to create something that perfectly counters you," Maria spoke up.

"You are both strong and fast and so, I can counter you in both ways with this form," she added.

"As for your force, I can stop you with my ice magic, and for your speed, I can outshine you with my lightning." She concluded, smiling afterward.

Raisa glare toward Maria and smiled.

"I want to see if your confidence is really enough to overcome me." Raisa replied.

Maria created a magic circle and brought out a purple sword with lightning brimming around it. She flew toward Raisa at extreme speed. Maria instantly sliced through Raisa's chest and forced her down to the ground as Raisa coughed blood all over her face. It was completely impossible for Raisa to react to the extent of Maria's speed as it surpassed that of any sacred spirit's reaction capability.

Raisa's soul instantly left her body as Maria's strike took her life away. Maria slowly shut down her magic spell and returned back to her original form.

An storm of magic power appeared a bit away from there. It was coming from a clash between Marco and Kieren. Marco kept flying around and clashing with Kieren, who was holding a long steel stick brimming with magic power, while Marco was using his sword and fire magic. The hostile flame strikes kept forcing back Kieren as he barely keeping up with Marco to survive.

As he stepped backward, sweat poured out from him while he was searching for a way to counter Marco.

"In this way, I will soon lose against him, this can't happen." Kieren thought to himself as he seemed exhausted.

Kieren flew a bit farther away and hid from Marco's sight. A bit of confusion appeared on his face, soon disappearing without leaving a trace. His thoughts finally answered him and gave the idea he was looking for.

"It seems I have no other way than using some dirty trick." Kieren thought to himself.

A strong presence of magic power approached from a short distance away, and he seemed a bit surprised by the magic power coming from the stranger.

"Is that the girl...yes, I can sense her presence."

"If I can trick and kill her then it will be easy for me to bring my victory over him too." Kieren added to his thoughts. A faint smile appeared in his face, revealing the quiet and mystery joy.

Kieren covered himself with a magic circle and slowly, his disguise began to change as his entire physical appearance changed to Marco's form. Even his magic presence changed to that of Marco's.

Someone was coming toward Kieren, it was Maria, flying toward him. Kieren flew a bit ahead toward her and began to put a false smile on his face.

"Hey Maria, it seems like you are done." Kieren spoke up as he slowly got close to Maria.

"Yes but I can feel something wrong here. Do you feel the same, Marco?" Maria replied, glaring at Kieren narrowly.

"What are you saying, Maria?" Kieren said while trying to keep his smile.

Maria lifted up her left hand and shaped her hand like a pistol, pointing it toward Kieren's chest.

"You can get the answer, right now." Maria replied.

Before Kieren could say further words, Maria shot a beam of lightning toward him from her hand. The beam instantly penetrated through his chest and exited from his back, creating a hole there and destroying his soul right away.

"I'm afraid, your stupid trick can never fool me, nor do I care if it does, cause I'm not really that weak enough to fall for it. Perhaps, I was forced to be like this, slowly when I used to be different." Maria said, taking a breath in the middle of her sentence.

Kieren slowly lost Marco's disguise as his spell faded, forcing him to fall to the ground.
