Chapter 41 - Survival

On the other hand, after Raizel left Zeldia and made his way to the holy world, Aizis and the others followed, heading to the holy world as well. The other supreme rulers appeared in the holy world in time. As a world with infinite layered durability from the root, the holy world easily managed to withstand the presence of thousands of supreme rulers and sacred spirits.

Right after arriving in the holy world, the other supreme rulers began their battle against the sacred spirits. The holy world turned into chaos as the brimming and hostile magic power spread all around, along with the presence of destructive magic spells.

"What a view of chaos. It's been a while since I witnessed such a scenario." A familiar voice spoke from a bit far away from the mainland of the holy world. That person smiled faintly as he stared toward the city deeply.

It was Aizis, along with Marco, Maria, and Elesia, standing a bit far away from the main realm, witnessing the chaos spreading throughout the world.

"I can't find the beauty in the destruction… it's meaningless to me. It hurts," Elesia spoke up, following Aizis's sentence.

"It feels like it's really painful for you to witness the destruction of your own kind. If so, then we won't mind if you leave this world right now and ignore your attendance here," Aizis replied as he glared narrowly toward Elesia.

Elesia closed her eyes, lifted her gaze, then opened them again.

"No. I promised him I would be his comrade and fight alongside him as long as I can. I can't break the promise I made to Raizel." Elesia replied.

"Does it hurt to witness the destruction of the kind I used to belong to? I don't know. But I know I can't be with evil, even if it hurts. I'll force myself to leave them, I'll force myself to stand against them." Elesia added, smiling afterward.

"If you're truly determined in your decision, then why not. You can do whatever you want," Aizis replied.

"Well then, why don't we join the showdown already?" Marco spoke up, his eyes glowing with excitement.

"Let's go then. Let's join the showdown between the two supreme forces of the 6th layer," Aizis said, following Marco's words.

Afterward, Aizis flew toward the main realm, accelerating his speed and instantly reaching the mainland of the world, the realm of the sacred spirits. The others followed, standing alongside him.

"It seems like our side is currently facing problems with the sacred spirits. It feels unfair to me," Marco said, smiling afterward.

While they observed the battle, a team of four individuals appeared. Their presence was much more effective than the other sacred spirits. Thy were hunting down the supreme rulers one by one. All of them seemed to possess extraordinary amounts of magic power as their spells were versatile and destructive.

Marco smiled a bit toward the scenario and spoke up, "I feel like we've found our fated opponents,", Marco said while keeping his smile.

"I believe so. But I wonder who they are. What kind of individuals can be this strong," Maria said, her voice laced with worry.

"The strongest sacred spirits after the king. They govern the holy world under the wings of the king of sacred spirits," Elesia replied.

"I was also a part of that group, until I left the realm," she added.

"Well, that sounds interesting. I'd love to be their opponent," Aizis said.

"Then go ahead and do what you like," Marco replied.

Right afterward, Marco grew wings from his shoulders and flew toward one of the individuals—a tall, black-haired man wearing a dark red coat that covered him entirely. Marco drew a magic circle and summoned a golden sword. As soon as he closed the distance, he swung his sword toward the man's neck. However, he instantly dodged the slash and leapt back. He balanced himself back and stand a bit away from Marco. He lift up hs gaze toward Marco and smiled.

"That was quick. I barely managed to react," the man said, glaring toward Marco.

Marco didn't reply anything as he was keep glaring to the person.

"Your eyes… I can feel the presence of intent within them, and the presence of strength," the man added.

"I don't believe in strength, but in myself. That allows me to surpass anything and everything in my path," Marco replied.

"Isn't that interesting? If so, I'd love to see you surpass me and prove your words true and absolute. I, Kieren, shall be your opponent in this battle," Kieren declared.

"I'd love to enjoy a battle against you, not as an enemy, but as a worthy opponent," Marco replied.

Marco lifted his sword and charged toward Kieren.

On the other hand, Aizis and the others faced the remaining three sacred spirits as they scattered away from the central chaos.

Aizis stood against an orange-haired sacred spirit, dressed similarly to the others.

"I'm not one for battle, but if it's necessary, then I won't hold back," Aizis said.

"It's nice to meet you, Mister Silas," he added.

"I love battles. I love blood and destruction. If it's about our eternal enemies, then why not?" Silas replied.

"It hasn't been long since we last fought, right?" he added.

"Hasn't it? I thought thousands of years was really long… but it doesn't seem the same to you," Aizis answered.

"We are warriors. Time is irrelevant for us, it's just a concept, meaningless and stupid to be remembered," Silas said, smiling afterward.

Aizis smiled back, silent for a moment.

"I can see the strength in your presence. I can feel your eagerness to fight me," Aizis said.

"You already know," Silas replied with a smile.

As soon as he finished speaking, Silas flew toward Aizis with his long sword. Aizis floated higher into the sky, summoning multiple magic circles targeting Silas.

Meanwhile, a red-haired girl drew a magic circle, sending storms of ice toward a tall woman in a gown. The woman continuously slashed apart the incoming ice with her blade. The red-haired girl was Maria, wearing her usual casual smile as she battled one of the sacred spirits.

"How much longer will you keep dodging, Raisa? Are you confident enough to survive everything I throw at you?" Maria taunted.

"Are you challenging me? Challenging a sacred spirit such as me?" Raisa replied, glaring at Maria.

"I don't challenge anyone. When I fight, it's just fate I believe in. Fate decides the outcome," Maria answered.

"A battle is about survival in destruction, it's not about victory," she added.

Maria conjured a devastating magic circle surrounding Raisa, instantly casting a massive ice spell that froze her and the area around Raisa.

"In this story, it's about survival and death, there's no victory or defeat," Maria said, narrowing her eyes toward the frozen Raisa.

Maria slowly stepped away, leaving Raisa encased in ice. Suddenly, cracks spread across the frozen shell until it shattered completely. Before Maria could react, Raisa appeared behind her, swinging a sword at her neck with incredible speed.

But another sword blocked the strike and forced Raisa back. It was Elesia, holding a golden blade. She gazed gently at Maria and spoke.

"Be more careful, Maria," Elesia said with a smile.

Maria lowered her gaze slightly. "I'll be careful… I'm sorry," she replied.
