"Mira," Theo mutters with a breathless chuckle, as if he still can't believe he's sitting beside her, still can't believe he came, after swearing to himself that he wouldn't.
He had promised to walk away, to erase her from his life like a bad dream. He told himself he was an Alpha, and no Alpha would allow a mere Omega to crawl under his skin like this.
Yet here he was, looking at her. Still feeling the love, still wanting answers.
"I'm trying," he says quietly, voice deep, "I'm really trying to get it into my head that you actually did what you claimed you did to me." He lets out a soft laugh.. more pain than humor. "But it's just… refusing to sink in. My instincts won't accept it. My heart is fighting it. So, I need you to look at me in the eye and tell me that it's actually true."
He pauses, taking a breath like the next words are tearing out of him.
