"What? Uh… well, yeah!" Eryx stammers, clearly caught off guard, his words tripping over themselves as he turns sharply toward the doorway. "I've been trying to get answers from this servant!" His voice rises in defense, but his tone isn't nearly as confident as usual. "And she's very lucky you stepped in just now, because I was one second away from strangling her to death!"
He throws the sentence out almost too quickly, like he's trying to cover something, like even he isn't sure what just happened a moment ago.
His hands are still shaking slightly, as if they haven't recovered from the moment they froze mid-action.
His eyes flicker briefly to Mira, and then away again, as though looking at her too long might give something away.
"What... are you doing here, anyway?" Eryx asks stiffly. His tone is hard again, trying to rebuild the wall that had cracked just moments ago. "Don't tell me you still…"
