Chapter 206 - Chapter 206: Fury's Attack and Feigned Death

The already irritated Fury became even more annoyed.

"Want to check my ID?" he felt extremely frustrated.

The officers still didn't check his ID. Because they chose a better method.

As everyone knows, in America, some extreme officers like to give friendly Black brothers the gift of emptying their magazines. With Fury's appearance, he received even more luxurious treatment.

The green light turned on, and Fury had just started the car and passed through the intersection. On another road, another police car sped over, its front end heavily crashing into Fury's car body, causing the car to veer off and slam into a road barrier.

Then came the front, back, and right side. Four police cars formed an encirclement, completely blocking Fury's escape routes. The car's AI reminded Fury that he was injured.

A black car filled with police quickly drove up and stopped. Armed police got out of the car. All the officers drew their weapons and began their gift package. Bullets poured down like rain. Even S.H.I.E.L.D.'s bulletproof car was riddled with damage.

After discovering they couldn't break through the car, more officers brought pneumatic hammers. Each attack made the car body shake violently.

Fury truly lived up to his reputation as the king of spies. Through the car's counterattack system, he successfully fought his way out and restarted the car. But the cost was heavy.

Driving wildly on the road, thankfully the car's quality was up to standard. In the pursuit and blockade, he successfully broke through the encirclement.

Just when he was about to escape, an uninvited guest quietly arrived. It was an unusual assassin with a supermodel-like physique, a metal arm, wearing a mask, who raised the weapon in his hand and fired.

A violent explosion flipped the entire car over. Inside the car, Fury was trapped with no way out, watching the killer getting closer and closer. He had no choice but to use his final underground escape technique.

When the killer reached the car, he could only see a large hole that had been dug through. This speed was faster than an excavator.

John didn't get news about the woman, but instead first heard news of a major incident in America across the ocean. Nick Fury was dead.

When John heard this news, he remained completely calm. That guy would die?

"He was attacked, bullets opened several holes in his body."

"Before that, the streets of Washington staged a police chase scene."

"Strangely, those pursuing officers shouldn't have been there."

John listened to the voice on the other end of the phone. He raised an eyebrow and said, "I thought you would treat these matters as classified."

Mycroft said with amusement on the other end of the phone, "I wouldn't treat false news as classified."

"You're very confident?"

"No," Mycroft said flatly, standing in his office at Miracle Tower, "I have great trust in Nick Fury."

"You might not understand that person," Mycroft said lightly. "It's best not to draw conclusions before seeing his corpse with your own eyes."

"There was once a hostage situation in Colombia. The high official in charge advocated negotiation, but the hostage-takers didn't want that."

"When the army dealt with the criminals and entered the hostage room, they discovered it was empty."

Mycroft said, "It was Nick Fury who rescued the hostages. He didn't follow his superior's instructions because he knew it was wrong."

John said in surprise, "I rarely hear you give such high praise to others."

"Miracle Children will be compared to the Avengers," Mycroft said as if mentioning something trivial, "The two organizations can be allies, but Nick Fury and I are not."

Along with Nick Fury's death came another piece of news. Captain America from the Avengers had defected. What a rare occurrence. Captain America betraying S.H.I.E.L.D.

John began to wonder about the other Avengers' reactions. Hearing this news, would they believe it or find it ridiculous? Anyway, John found it very strange after hearing it.

But this wasn't within his scope of management. What John needed to do now was solve other matters here. After Mycroft learned about it, he was looking forward to watching S.H.I.E.L.D.'s joke. John even suspected he might open champagne to celebrate. Mycroft probably wouldn't be so tasteless.

The vampire situation hadn't stopped. The Vampire Council expressed dissatisfaction with the incidents in vampire territories. John could see that perhaps it wasn't the Vampire Council that was dissatisfied, but those young radicals.

The Vampire Council had no authority to refuse those vampires from joining the council. This led to the Vampire Council still being nominally controlled by the old school, but actually beginning to be taken over by the young faction.

"After all, they're different from the vampires in the magical world."

The vampires in the magical world weren't as violent as these vampires. Some vampires even had suicidal behaviors. Vampires who had lived too long and found life boring might just walk into sunlight and become torches.

Unlike these vampires, who wanted to unify the world, as if afraid others wouldn't know their intentions. John was speechless. Even if a vampire ruled the world, they'd still have to obediently hide back in their coffins during the day.

With their long lifespans, vampires had no need to do these things at all. They could perfectly well enjoy life, being nocturnal creatures living as somewhat different people in the city.

John's figure disappeared and reappeared on top of a tall building. He stood beside a gargoyle sculpture, overlooking the city. Vampires wouldn't come out during the day. But there were some exceptions.

The benefits of advanced technology were evident. Sunscreen could be called the greatest invention for vampires in a thousand years. Though it was unknown whether the inventor was a vampire.

As long as they applied thick enough sunscreen and wore several layers of clothing, vampires could walk during the day. The downside was being careful if the sunscreen wasn't applied enough or got scraped off. Then what awaited the vampire was the death penalty of being burned by sunlight.

Those who dared to come out like this were either recklessly bold or newbie vampires. John quickly locked onto one.

Vampires generally didn't dare come out during the day. But there were exceptions. Like now.

The young vampire Martha was starving. Being a vampire and ending up in her situation was probably a first. She had been bitten by a vampire. It was one night.

Martha never expected that the person she was about to sleep with would be a vampire. She was bitten and ran away screaming. At that time, she only thought the other person was some pervert with weird fetishes.

After a day, she became increasingly hungry. Food in her mouth only made her nauseous. She targeted a piece of raw meat, or more precisely, the blood on the meat.

After devouring the blood on the raw meat, she realized she had become a vampire. She hid herself at home, unwilling to go out and harm people. After hiding for several days, she was almost starving to death.

Unable to bear it anymore, she applied thick sunscreen all over herself, making her entire face look greasy and slick. Wearing large, black-framed glasses, Martha looked just like the unremarkable female bookworms in many campus movies.
