Edward stared out the window in stunned disbelief.
"Raaaagh!" A piercing roar rang through the air—then, a Pokémon suddenly burst from the sky, as if emerging from water.
It was Palkia!
"Q! Fort! Are you two okay?" Edward shook his slightly dizzy head and quickly checked on his Pokémon. Once he confirmed both Q and Fortune were safe, he finally let out a sigh of relief. Though they weren't injured, the deafening roar from Palkia had clearly left them uncomfortable.
Edward held Q in his arms and gave him a fear candy, then handed one to Fortune as well. After that, he turned his gaze back to the chaos unfolding outside the hotel.
Palkia appeared to be furious. It opened its mouth wide and released a beam of pure destructive energy toward a specific direction.
From that spot—another Legendary Pokémon emerged.
Dialga.
"The twin gods of time and space… what's going on?" Edward's expression darkened as he held Q tightly.
Didn't Cynthia say Team Galactic had already retreated? Then why were the twin deities awakened?
These two were notorious for their animosity—when they weren't in contact, things were fine. But once they clashed, disaster was inevitable.
The shockwaves from their battle rippled across the city with devastating force. Edward felt the entire hotel trembling. This was the power of Legendary Pokémon.
Even the residual energy of their clash was enough to plunge an entire League city into crisis. They didn't even need to intend destruction—their presence alone was cataclysmic.
Edward felt like a feeble ant before these gods.
And the gods didn't care about ants.
He remembered a movie where the battle between Dialga and Palkia distorted the space around them, displacing everything to another dimension where it was obliterated. These beings were beyond reasoning. Human pleas or Pokémon attacks meant nothing. Only their own power could affect each other.
"I…" Edward stared toward the distant battlefield. His face grew grim.
Solving this wasn't going to be easy.
Even Apex Pokémon might not be worthy of their notice. Could Q's Dazzling Gleam even get their attention?
And in the very next moment—
The twin gods roared again. Then, as if stepping through a veil of water, they both vanished into the void, ripples of space left in their wake.
Just like that, Palkia and Dialga disappeared from Eterna City, leaving behind nothing but widespread devastation and a ruined area beneath their battleground.
The chaos they caused gradually settled.
Edward stood in front of the shattered window, cradling Q in his arms. He silently watched the wreckage outside.
Slowly, another sound emerged in his ears—weeping. Wails of despair. Soft sobs full of helplessness.
"Legendary Pokémon…" Edward muttered, gazing upon the ruined Eterna City. All this destruction, caused by just a few moments of combat—it made him instinctively reach for the Poké Balls on his belt.
He had already been trying to think of the legendary's power as being "as high as possible"…
But today made it clear—he still hadn't thought high enough.
These beings were far more terrifying than he had imagined.
There was a reason they were called gods—because they truly possessed the power to reshape the world.
The legendaries shown in the games and anime were the weakened versions—less realistic, less brutal.
Now Edward finally understood why the League had been so cautious about Groudon.
These Pokémon weren't something humans should control.
Edward walked downstairs. The hotel elevators had stopped functioning—likely due to safety concerns—so he had to take the stairs.
On the way down, he passed by panicked civilians—some crying, some frantically calling family, trying to reassure their loved ones. Their fear and confusion was burned into Edward's mind.
Outside the hotel, the streets were in chaos.
Officer Jennys worked tirelessly to maintain order, while Nurse Joys rushed back and forth, tending to the wounded.
"The battle between the twin gods won't end so easily… it'll continue," Edward said quietly, holding Q close as he took in the scene.
Behind him, Zoroark suddenly dashed out from the hotel in a panic, eyes scanning the area. The moment she spotted Edward, she sprinted over.
"Boss! Are you okay?!" Zoroark asked anxiously.
She had gone to carry out Edward's earlier instructions, and when the conflict broke out, she'd been stuck in the elevator. The whole elevator shook violently, and she ended up trapped inside.
Even though she was a Ghost-type, Zoroark had been carrying a bunch of Edward's documents—things that couldn't be left behind. So, she had to wait for rescue before coming out.
"I'm fine. I'm okay." Edward responded softly, but his mind wasn't on Zoroark.
All his thoughts were on the twin gods.
Their battle wouldn't end this easily. In one movie, Ash had to go to great lengths, even orchestrating a concert to sing Oración, to finally calm them down. Edward didn't have the time or resources to throw a concert at a tower with big visuals.
He had to find another way.
Edward pulled out his phone, intending to check in with Cynthia. The Sinnoh League surely already knew about the battle. But when he saw the flickering signal on his screen, he quietly put the phone back down.
The signal towers had been destroyed.
Even so, Edward figured Cynthia was probably overwhelmed right now. The news of the twin gods wreaking havoc in Eterna couldn't be hidden.
If Cyrus still had his wits about him, he wouldn't let this chance slip by. He'd definitely launch the fiercest assault yet.
To the mighty League, even the fiercest assault might not be enough to topple them—but it would still be incredibly troublesome.
"Do you need me to contact Miss Cynthia?" Rotom's voice rang out as the little electric ghost popped out of Edward's phone.
Edward paused.
He'd had the Rotom Phone for a while, but hadn't really used its unique features. Rotom was usually quiet, rarely showing itself.
He hadn't expected it to suddenly appear now.
"Can you?" Edward asked in surprise.
"Of course! We Rotoms have our own Rotom Network, you know~" Rotom said, sparks flashing across its screen.
Then, to Edward's astonishment, the phone lit up—and soon, Cynthia's tired voice came through the line.
"Edward? Are you okay over there?"
It seemed…
Rotom Phones were way too cheap for how powerful they were.
