Edward, of course, wasn't in any real danger. He even asked Cynthia if she needed any help, but she clearly didn't.
"Team Galactic is causing trouble all over the Sinnoh region right now… I'm busy trying to suppress the fighting," Cynthia said curtly, exchanged a few pleasantries, and hung up.
Edward looked out over Eterna City. At this point, he figured it was better not to add to the chaos. With the twin gods of time and space having appeared, Cyrus was probably ecstatic—he was likely dying to run up to them and present his grand plan.
"Boss, I saw online that some people in other cities across Sinnoh have also spotted Dialga and Palkia," Zoroark reported as he walked beside Edward. Edward furrowed his brow slightly.
It was clear now—the battle between Dialga and Palkia was spreading. Normally, these two legendaries rarely crossed paths, but now that they had, their clash was as intense as a collision between planets.
Unfortunately, it was humanity that was paying the price. The Sinnoh League must be having a huge headache trying to manage this.
"We have to find a way to stop their battle." Edward glanced at his phone—it had a signal again. The League's efficiency was impressive. Even their infrastructure repairs were happening fast.
But even with their speed, the key issue was still unresolved: how to stop the battle. If they couldn't stop it, no amount of reconstruction would keep up with the destruction. Who knew if the next battlefield would engulf another city, just like in the Rise of Darkrai movie?
In that film, the solution was to activate Oración, a powerful song that calmed the gods and even had healing effects. It clearly wasn't something just any piece of music could achieve.
Edward couldn't help but suspect that the cathedral in the movie was some sort of advanced weapon—or at the very least, it housed a massive healing mechanism.
"Boss, Mr. Steven just sent a message—he wants me to escort you back to the Hoenn region as soon as possible," Zoroark reported after checking her phone.
The message had been sent earlier, but because Eterna's infrastructure was partially destroyed, the signal had been down. Now that the network was restored, the message finally came through.
Edward didn't reply right away. He stared at the ruined city, deep in thought.
Others might not know how to calm the twin gods—but Edward did.
Though this wasn't how he'd expected things to unfold—he originally thought the gods would only appear after Ash reached Sinnoh. But Ash was still in Kanto, and things were already spiraling out of control.
"Shizuka, help me find the fastest way to Twinleaf Town," Edward said, glancing at Zoroark with a determined look.
Zoroark paused. She'd just been looking up flights back to Hoenn—and now Edward suddenly wanted to go to Twinleaf Town? Twinleaf Town? What kind of place was that?
"It's in the Sinnoh region," Edward said quietly.
Understanding his intent, Zoroark didn't hesitate and quickly found the best route there.
One option was by hot air balloon, but the fastest was to ride a Flying-type Pokémon. Since Twinleaf Town was just a small village, it didn't have an airport—so no direct flights.
Without hesitation, Edward called out. A moment later, one of the League's bodyguards approached him.
Though the bodyguard was confused by Edward's request, one look into Edward's eyes was enough. Without a word, the guard released a Dragonite, which would carry Edward and Zoroark straight to Twinleaf Town.
As they soared through the air, Edward saw a forest below—completely destroyed. Every tree had fallen. Clearly, the residual shockwaves of the gods' battle weren't going to dissipate easily.
"What's the current situation?" Edward asked the woman flying ahead of him—she was the League's assigned bodyguard for this mission.
"Not great," she answered softly. "The Sinnoh League hasn't been able to pinpoint which areas Dialga and Palkia will appear in. Their battlefield spans almost the entire region."
Edward rubbed his brow.
It made sense. These two were beyond strong. Palkia, especially, could warp space and teleport at will. There was no telling where it might go next.
Looking off into the distance, Edward saw a large group of Flying Pokémon trailing behind them—his League security detail.
But even with this kind of force, they weren't enough to stop the twin gods. Edward had only one option.
By the time Dragonite arrived in Twinleaf Town, it was already the next day. Edward, now with dark circles under his eyes, leaned over the saddle and looked down at the sleepy village—his spirit still oddly energized.
He had been exhausted, but anyone who's ever pulled an all-nighter knows that if you power through till morning, there's often a strange burst of energy, like you've had a full night's sleep. Of course, it's just an illusion.
Still, Edward didn't care about that now.
"Boss, we've arrived at Twinleaf Town," Zoroark said energetically. As a Ghost-type Pokémon, Zoroark didn't need sleep.
The League bodyguard put Dragonite back into its Poké Ball, letting it rest.
"Yeah…" Edward stared at Twinleaf Town below.
By now, news of Dialga and Palkia had spread everywhere. Even the people in this quiet little town had heard. They were panicking—stockpiling food and praying the gods wouldn't show up in their village.
But that was just wishful thinking.
Edward remembered a legend passed down in Twinleaf Town. There was a prophecy—one that foretold the clash of Dialga and Palkia. The legend said they would come to Twinleaf Town and destroy it.
But if the town was to be saved, then—
Of course, prophecies were never direct. They always liked to turn everything into some kind of cryptic puzzle.
"It's like those parents who, before dying, tell their kid: 'We've hidden a treasure that'll make you rich for life. It's hidden… somewhere...' then leave behind a string of riddles without any concern for whether the kid can solve it or not," Edward muttered in frustration.
Why couldn't they just speak plainly?
If it were up to him, he'd have written out the entire process, photocopied it a few hundred times, and even carved a stone tablet or two just in case future generations were too dumb to read it.
"I remember reading something online while researching for a movie script—someone mentioned a legend from Twinleaf Town…" Edward said thoughtfully.
