"You can't just accuse my sister! It's obvious Frank and Mirabel pulled this shit up themselves!" Damien chimed in, his voice thick with anger. "The door wasn't even locked from the inside, which means they weren't trapped in here. And I can't smell the use of any sex drugs either."
"Don't conclude so soon, Damien," Mrs. Ashford voiced out, tears still rolling freely down her cheeks. Her eyes were swollen red, her voice trembling between rage and despair. "Go and fetch another doctor. Let him test Mirabel, Victoria, and Frank. Then we'll know the truth."
"Even to the end… you don't believe Victoria, Mother?" Theo raised an eyebrow in disbelief, his tone laced with bitter frustration. But before he could say another word, Mrs. Ashford's palm struck his face with a sharp crack.
"How do you expect Mirabel to feel hearing you say such things?" she hissed through gritted teeth.
