Silence stretched across the air like a blanket. I wanted him to say something or maybe persuade me to drop my crown and run away.
But he kept quiet.
"Rhydian?"
"Yes, princess." His voice came from the stone again.
"I thought you had left… I couldn't hear from you." I pushed the strands falling over my face to the back of my ear.
"I am here…" he sighed before he continued. "I just want you to think over this, and be sure of what you really want. I want you to be happy."
Tears rolled down my cheeks. "Hmm." I couldn't say any other words apart from that, and I didn't want him to know I was crying.
"I'll contact you tomorrow. Sleep well, princess." His voice grew distant with every word.
"Sleep well too, Rhydian," I muttered under my breath. The stone gradually changes from light blue to white.
