As for whether this would expose too much information to the True Creator, Evah wasn't particularly concerned. Some information was hard to keep hidden and had likely already been revealed when he summoned the Ancient Sun God. So, he didn't mind trading certain details for things that benefited him.
No matter what, his ability to drag this world down with him was real. As long as that held true, the other side would have to think carefully.
After all, even the mad True Creator, at its core, still wanted to protect this world.
It was just a pity about Grisha—or perhaps Sasrir as well… Thinking of Adam and the True Creator merging to form the Creator of Old, Evah couldn't help but feel a pang of sentiment.
Xio and Fors, of course, had no idea that in that brief moment, Evah had struck an unspoken deal with the True Creator. Both plagued by poverty, they nodded in instant understanding when they heard his explanation.
If they were buying spiritual materials in bulk, they'd haggle just as carefully.
The gathering, already nearing its end, wrapped up soon after Evah's return.
Evah followed Xio and Fors out of the gathering and onto the carriage. The three began discussing the next Beyonders gathering.
"The exact time isn't set yet, but I should have news within a week at most. I'll let you know then," Xio said, then looked at Evahwith curiosity. "By the way, since you can divine, can you predict anything about this?"
"I might get a rough timeframe, but without specific details, it's hard to divine anything precise," Evah said, shrugging. "Divination isn't omnipotent, after all."
"Oh, right…" Evah added, as if remembering something, looking at Xiu and Fors. "You two are pretty seasoned Beyonders in Backlund. If possible, I'd like to commission you to look into something for me."
"What is it?" Xio sat up straight, her bounty hunter instincts kicking in.
"I want to learn about an entity called 'The Fool.' They might be connected to the Antigonus family, a secretive figure," Evah said, pausing as he noticed the slight change in their expressions. He added, "Of course, I don't need you to put yourselves in danger. Just ask around in your circles to see if anyone knows about The Fool."
This was, naturally, Evah's preparation for eventually learning The Fool's honorific name and joining the Tarot Club.
Otherwise, it'd be suspicious for a transmigrator like him to suddenly know The Fool's honorific name out of nowhere.
Hmm, speaking of which, Mr. Fool wouldn't refuse to pull me into the Tarot Club just because I'm a transmigrator and he's worried about social embarrassment, would he? If that happens, don't blame me for exposing his secrets… Evah mused leisurely, unsure which scenario he was more excited for. Either way, both seemed like a lot of fun.
Of course, Evah didn't deny that he already had a thorough plan for joining the Tarot Club.
Xio and Fors had no idea that Evah was already plotting ways to mess with Mr. Fool. They exchanged a glance, both silently weighing the risks of the task.
In this world, anything tied to secretive entities was often dangerous. But simply gathering information typically wasn't too risky.
Just like the True Creator or the Primordial Demoness—infamous evil gods whose names were known to many Beyonders and even ordinary people. As long as you didn't recklessly chant their true names or provoke those connected to them, there wasn't much danger.
"What kind of payment can you offer?" Xio asked after a few seconds of thought.
"10 pounds as a deposit. If you find relevant information, I'll pay more based on its value," Evah said straightforwardly. He kept the price modest to avoid spooking the two women.
"Deal. I'll ask around in my circles," Xio nodded decisively. Just gathering information for a 10-pound deposit was already a solid deal.
"Why do you want to know about this Fool?" Fors asked, her curiosity piqued. As a writer, her mind was always buzzing with ideas, and she was already imagining various dramatic scenarios.
"It started because a friend of mine was interested in this. Later, when I checked my family's ancient records, I found that The Fool might… have some connection to my family's ancestors," Evah said, shrugging.
"You know how it is—getting tangled with a secretive entity is rarely good news. Even though that ancestor lived ages ago, what if some curse has been passed down? I need to figure it out to put my mind at ease." He sighed, his expression tinged with worry.
Hearing this, Xio and Fors instinctively leaned back. It wasn't their fault—ties to secretive entities were notoriously dangerous in this world's worldview.
But they quickly calmed down. According to Evah, it was only his ancestor who was connected to the entity, so Luo Lin himself was likely fine.
Fors, already troubled by the full moon ravings, felt a pang of empathy."Curses are such a hassle," she said.
"Oh? Is Miss Duck dealing with something like that?" Evah asked, looking at Fors with curiosity.
"I…" Fors hesitated. Thinking of the Trickmaster potion formula she'd bought from him and his apparent background in an ancient Beyonder family, she made up her mind. "Due to some circumstances, I hear ravings during the full moon. It's been troubling me for a long time."
Though she shared her situation briefly, Fors was cautious, withholding specific details.
Evah wasn't surprised by her reticence. He put on a thoughtful expression, pausing for a few seconds before saying, "Full moon ravings… I think I read about something like that in my family's records. Apparently, members of an ancient family called Abraham were plagued by this curse."
He looked at Fors, his gaze a mix of surprise and scrutiny. "Miss Duck, are you from the Abraham family?" he asked, acting as if he genuinely believed it.
Fors was startled. At this point, she didn't know about the Abraham family, but she recalled Mrs. Aulisa mentioning her husband's family—a secretive, ancient lineage tormented by full moon ravings.
Could Mrs. Aulisa's husband be from the Abraham family?
Fors had her suspicions. Facing Evah's curious gaze, she shook her head. "I'm not from the Abraham family. I'm just unfortunate enough to be afflicted by this curse."
