"Master, our troops are still on the field!"
The fleet commander's voice cracked with panic. His hands hovered over the console, trembling. If he gave the order, countless of their own warriors would be turned into ash along with the enemy.
A full barrage would kill everyone—Avengers and their own soldiers alike.
But Thanos' response was ice-cold. His glare could pierce steel.
"FIRE NOW!"
"IMMEDIATELY!"
There was no hesitation. To him, his soldiers were disposable pieces on a board. What mattered was survival.
If they didn't act, he would die.
And that was unacceptable.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The sky split open as the massive warships obeyed, unleashing hellfire from above.
Energy blasts rained down like meteors, vaporizing ground and sky alike, obliterating friend and foe in equal measure. The earth shook as entire craters opened, flames swallowing soldiers who never even saw it coming.
The Avengers and their allies scattered, some screaming, some diving for cover.
The sorcerers, with barely a moment's warning, snapped into action—hands weaving rapid sigils, summoning glowing golden shields to cover the defenders. The shimmering barriers groaned under the sheer force of the blasts, cracks spiderwebbing across them, but they held long enough to prevent absolute slaughter.
Still, dozens fell in the chaos.
As for Alex?
Unfazed.
He stood in the storm like a mountain, his telekinetic barrier flaring bright, effortlessly bending the destructive energy around him. To the terrified soldiers, it looked as though the universe itself bowed away from his presence.
He didn't flinch. He didn't stop.
He kept pummeling Thanos.
The Titan's armor cracked further under each merciless strike of Mjolnir, sparks and blood flying with every hit.
But Thanos had no protection against his own fleet's reckless fire.
Caught between Alex's hammer and the burning rain of his own army, he was being crushed from both sides.
A suicidal move. Yet one he had demanded himself.
ZZZT-BOOM!
Another massive lightning strike surged down through Alex's hammer, lashing Thanos with divine fury. The air filled with ozone, smoke, and the stench of burning flesh.
"ARGH!"
Thanos roared, collapsing to one knee, his massive frame shaking. Blood poured from his mouth, staining his chin and armor.
He was severely wounded.
Alex's eyes were like sharpened steel, his expression devoid of pity. He pressed harder—no mercy, no hesitation.
WHAM! CRACK! BOOM!
The battlefield trembled under each impact.
Minutes felt like hours. By the end, Thanos lay broken and bleeding, his mighty body battered beyond recognition.
WHOOSH!
Alex descended from the air in a controlled drop, landing heavily on the Titan's chest with a brutal stomp that forced another grunt of agony from the warlord.
"Cough… cough…"
Thanos wheezed, blood bubbling from his lips. His once indomitable body now trembled under the weight of defeat.
He could no longer stand, no longer swing his blade. The only weapon left to him was the burning hatred in his eyes as he glared upward at his conqueror.
Suddenly—
The endless bombardment stopped.
The ground stilled, silence rushing into the void left by destruction.
Above, the warships shifted formation. Every ship's cannons slowly, ominously, tilted upward, no longer aimed at the ground but at the heavens.
"Friday, what are they targeting?" Tony's voice cut through the comms, taut with tension. His helmet swiveled upward.
"Something's entering the atmosphere, sir!"
But before anyone could speculate—
"Forget that! Alex beat Thanos!"
Scott's voice cracked with exhilaration over the comms.
"WHAT?!"
Tony turned sharply, his eyes locking onto the center of the battlefield.
There—
Alex stood tall on Thanos' chest, Mjolnir gripped in both hands, the storm still crackling faintly around him.
Steve, Thor, Strange, Wanda—all froze where they were, their expressions suspended between awe and disbelief.
Alex had won.
The impossible had been done.
"Alex… I never thought… my plans would end like this…"
Thanos spat blood, each word gurgling with weakness and fury. His voice trembled, more from rage than pain.
"All because of you—"
WHAM!
Alex didn't let him finish.
He brought Mjolnir down in a savage, final strike.
SPLAT!
Thanos' head burst apart, blood and bone scattering across the ruined battlefield.
The Mad Titan's body twitched once—then lay utterly still.
Dead.
For a long heartbeat, there was nothing. No one spoke.
Then—
"HOLY SHIT! HE DID IT!"
Rocket's shrill voice broke the silence. The raccoon practically leapt into the air, tail bristling with unrestrained glee.
"Thanos is… dead?"
Steve whispered, unable to believe his own eyes.
"Well, his head's gone. That'll do it."
Quill muttered, wincing even as relief broke through his features.
"THANOS IS DEAD!"
The cry spread like wildfire across the battlefield, carried from soldier to soldier, Avenger to ally.
Cheers rose, shaking the very earth, drowning out the last echoes of war.
The impossible had happened
