[Elara POV]
Watching her stand there—Rhea.
No, that couldn't be. She couldn't have.
My leg staggered as I almost crumbled to the ground, the truth hitting me harder than I could digest.
Why would she do this?
"Why, Rhea…" I whispered, hearing her claim she was sorry as she tried to avoid my gaze. Should I really just accept it like that? How could I—after all that had happened? I thought she was… maybe a friend.
Even after the news, she had told me about her mate being the Lycan King's son—that truth was something I found hard believing. But I was happy for her, knowing she was mated to someone who loved her.
But now, I wasn't sure of what to feel anymore. Was she still the same friend I had known all this while?
All these questions kept building up in my mind, and all I could do was stand there, lost.
"So, what's it going to be, Alpha Kieran?" I heard the Lycan King's son ask. "Are you planning to die just like that foolish Alpha of the Forestbane pack?" he mocked.
"What?"
