Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Takin' Care of Business

===August 28 1993===

Malachi, Harry and Hermione all appear on the porch of the Granger house. "You two know where to find me if you need me."

"I'll write if I make any progress on your arm." Hermione says.

"And I'll write if I have mageknight questions."

"I look forward to hearing from both of you." Malachi says before vanishing.

Hermione opens the door. "We're home!"

Helen comes from the kitchen and hugs Hermione. "I missed you, I barely get to see you."

Hermione hugs her mother back. "I missed you too, and I'm sorry we spent the whole summer training."

"I'm glad you did." Helen says. "It's obvious you need to be able to protect yourselves."

"Thanks Mum."

"Now, I know you two just got back, but we have a lot of planning to do."

"Planning?" Harry asks.

"You two are going to be married in less than a year." Helen says. "We need to plan your wedding."

"I've never been to a wedding, what's involved?" Harry asks.

"You'll need to pick your best man. Whoever that I'd will stand with you at the altar and he'll have the wedding band for you to put on Hermione." Helen explains.

"Either Ron or Neville." Harry says.

"I'll have a maid of honor." Hermione says. "I'm thinking about asking Lavender."

"You should make sure those two get along at least reasonably as they'll be expected to share at least one dance." Helen says.

Harry nods. "So Ron and Lavender then."

"They might even be dating by that point." Hermione says.

"True." Harry looks at Helen. "What else?"

"Have you two thought about where you'd like to get married?"

"We need a place both magicals and muggles can access." Hermione says.

"Could we have the wedding at your Grandmother's place?" Harry asks. "It's out in the middle of nowhere, and I'm willing to bet we can get it listed as a magical residence."

Hermione gasps. "That's brilliant! We can get a small wooden platform with an arch built and have a magical arborist get ivy to cover it. "

"That sounds beautiful." Helen says.

Hermione nods. "I thought so too."

"So who all do you want to invite?" Helen asks.

"The rest of the Weasleys." Harry says, "and a few of our professors too."

"Any family?" Helen asks.

"Neville and his Grandmother." Harry says. "Hermione?"

Hermione looks at Helen. "Grandmum, you and of course have Dad walk me down the aisle."

"What about your cousin Amanda?" Helen asks. "You two have barely talked since they moved to the states

Hermione nods. "It would be nice to see her again if they can make it."

"I'll send them an invitation." Helen says then looks at Harry. "Harry, have you given any thought of inviting your uncle and his family?"

Harry sighs. "Part of me is afraid that they'd ruin it, another part of me wants them to see that I'm happy in spite of everything."

"I think you should invite them." Hermione says. "They probably won't show up anyway."

Harry nods. "I'll think about it."

Helen nods. "Are you doing wizard robes or dress and tux?"

"Do you have a preference?" Hermione asks.

"I honestly don't know." Harry says. "I would say tux and dress since there are muggles possibly coming."

"Then let's do that." Hermione says.

"Then we are going to need to find you a dress you like in the next couple days." Helen says.

"Then we should get started." Hermione says. "Unfortunately we have to leave you behind Harry, you're not allowed to see me in the dress until the wedding day."

Harry nods. "I'll write out invitations, but I'd like to hand-deliver most of them."

"That's fine." Hermione says as she kisses him lightly then heads off with her Mum.

"Harry, how are you doing?" Richard asks.

"I've made the invitations, I was waiting for Hermione to approve them." Harry replies.

Richard picks up an invitation.

We cordially invite you to the wedding of Hermione Jean Granger and Harry James Potter on July 31, 1994.

Richard keeps reading, seeing that it gives the address of the ceremony and their address to reply back. "I think you have it covered. I approve of it, and that should be enough."

Harry nods. "I'll let Hermione decide for sure, but I'm okay with delivering one without her approval. It's the one I'd like to deliver in person that I'd rather you be there for."

"Your uncle?" Richard asks and Harry nods. "The ladies are out shopping, why don't we head there now?"

Harry carefully seals up one of the invitations. "Yes, let's."

Richard pulls the car up to Number 4 Privet drive. Just as soon as he does Vernon Dursley comes out of the house. "Whatever you're selling we don't want any!"

Richard gets out of the car. "I'm not selling anything."

"Finally get tired of the freak?" Vernon asks as Harry gets out of the car.

"On the contrary, Harry is going to become my son-in-law next year." Richard says.

Harry steps forward holding the envelope out. "I wanted to invite you to the wedding."

Vernon takes the envelope and opens it. "This is real."

"What is it Vernon?" Petunia asks as she comes up behind him. He just hands her the invitation. "Married to the Granger girl?"

"Better him than me." Dudley says. "Little prude never let me look up her skirt."

Invitation delivered Harry turns to return to the car. "Will there be more of... your kind at this wedding?" Vernon asks.

"Most likely we're inviting all of our friends from school, and their families." Harry says. "And we're having the ceremony at a magical residence."

"Then count us out." Vernon says.

Harry nods. "Harry, why did you invite us?" Petunia asks.

"You did raise me." Harry answers. "I may have left at the first opportunity, but that was my choice. I wanted you to know I am happy (in spite of you) with my choices."

With that Richard and Harry get in the car and drive off.
