===June 29 1992===
Richard drives the car toward the dentistry. "This looks familiar." Harry says as he looks out the window. He's wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that properly fits him, thanks to a trip to the mall.
"We're a couple blocks away from the entrance to Diagon Alley." Richard says. "I thought it was odd at first. Then we found out Helen came from a magical family. Add to that the fact that we took it over from her parents and it suddenly makes sense."
Harry nods. "The child moved away from the magical world when they found they couldn't use magic. Just not very far."
"Exactly."
"Do you think I could go to Diagon Alley after my appointment?"
"What do you need there?" Ric asks.
"I want to go to Gringotts and get some muggle money. I'd like to take Hermione out on a date." Harry answers.
Richard pulls the car into the dentistry parking lot. "Seriously?"
Harry nods. "Is there something wrong with that?"
"No, of course not." Richard answers. "Just didn't expect that."
"We are dating, what did you expect?" Harry asks.
"I figured you'd consider the times we've been leaving you two alone at home as dates."
"Honestly we hadn't discussed that, though I guess technically they are. I just want to take her on a real date, especially since we can't do that at Hogwarts yet." Harry says.
"After your appointment I'll drive you to the entrance." Richard says. "We'll figure out what time I come back and pick you then."
"I appreciate it."
===Later that day===
Richard pulls the car up to the house and heads inside. He passes Hermione sitting on the porch reading, she puts the book down and walks towards the car. Harry gets out of the car and sees Hermione smiling nearby, he smiles back and reaches out his hand to take hers. "How'd it go?" Hermione asks.
"All good, no cavities or anything." Harry says.
"That's great." Hermione says.
"Hermione, I wanted to ask you something." Harry takes her other hand. "Will you go out with me?"
"You mean an actual date?" Hermione asks.
Harry nods. "Lady's choice on where we go."
"Are you expecting me to wear a dress?" Hermione asks.
"Are you going to have us go somewhere that you should be wearing one?"
"So we really are going to do whatever I want for our first date?" Hermione asks.
Harry nods. "I honestly don't know what to plan. I figure this will at least give me an idea of what you consider a date."
"I don't really know what to consider a date." Hermione admits. "You're my first boyfriend."
Harry nods. "I was thinking if you got stuck you could talk to your mum."
Hermione nods. "That seems fair." She thinks for a minute. "I need to look at the paper, I have an idea!" She pulls him inside.
"What's your idea?" Harry asks as he's pulled along.
"If something that sounds good is playing we can do dinner and a movie."
"What do you mean if something good is playing?"
Hermione stops. "You've never been to a cinema have you?"
Harry shakes his head. "I don't believe so."
"Oh we've got to go then." Hermione says. They enter the house. "Hey Dad, does the paper have the listing for what is going to be showing at the cinema this weekend?"
"It has the movie descriptions, not show times or anything." Richard says as he hands her the paper. "Why do you ask?"
Hermione blushes slightly. "Harry asked me out."
Helen comes around the corner and gasps. "You two are going on a date?"
Hermione nods. "Harry asked me to pick, and I was thinking about dinner and a movie."
"Are you going to dress up?" Mrs Granger asks.
"I don't see any reason for that." Hermione answers.
"Oh come on, it's your first date."
"And we're going to a cinema that is usually cold. So I'll pass on a dress."
"She doesn't need to dress up on my account." Harry says. "I'd rather she be comfortable."
"Oh such a sweetheart." Helen says. "I think he's a keeper."
Hermione blushes slightly. "So far I have every reason to keep him."
Helen nods. "Will you let me do something with your hair?"
Hermione giggles. "You can try."
"So what's your plan then?" Richard asks.
Hermione looks at the movies showing. "Are you two alright with us bending few rules?"
"What are you thinking?" Harry asks.
"There's a R-rated movie that starts this weekend called Sleepwalkers. " Hermione says. "We can use magic in the house now. I believe we could glamour ourselves to look 18 and go see it."
"You won't get in trouble?" Richard asks.
"As long as we do the glamour spell here in the house, we're fine." Hermione answers.
"I'm fine with it." Richard says. "She's watched R-rated movies with us before."
"Are you still going to let me do something with your hair?" Helen asks.
"Of course." Hermione says. "Not everything needs to be a glamour.
===July 3 1992===
"So I took the afternoon off to make sure I had time to mess with your hair." Helen says.
Hermione steps into the room wearing a nice periwinkle blouse and a pair of black pants. "What do you think?"
"It's not bad." Helen says. "Don't you have a black skirt and some tights instead?"
Hermione nods and goes and changes. Her skirt comes past her knees and the tights match her blouse. "This?"
Helen nods. "I like it, do you feel like you're going to be warm enough?"
Hermione nods. "I believe so. After all Hogwarts isn't exactly warm and I usually wear the school skirt there."
"But don't you wear a robe most of the time?"
"That helps a bit, but I'm glad I learned the warming charm early.:
"Can't you put one of those on with the outfit?"
"Not with the glamour." Hermione admits. "I can't layer charms yet."
Helen nods. "We'll if you're sure you'll be okay I'll see what I can do with your hair."
Hermione nods and sits. Helen puts a towel on Hermoine's shoulders. "Fortunately for you I took some hair and makeup classes in college."
===some time later===
Hermione stands in the hall looking into the full length mirror, her hair coiffed impressively. Harry whistles. "You clean up really well."
The girls turn to see Harry. He's wearing a pair of black dress pants with a light blue dress shirt tucked into them. His hair is less of a mess thanks to some gel he's used to keep it swept down over his forehead just enough to hide his scar. Hermione whistles herself. "You don't look too bad yourself."
Harry blushes slightly. "Thanks." He takes in her outfit. "Is that a skirt?"
Hermione nods. "Do you like it?"
"Of course, cause you're wearing it." Harry says.
"Oh, such a charmer." Helen says. "You think he's trying to get under your skirt?"
Hermione giggles slightly. "I doubt it, he has seen me in a skirt many times before."
"Yes, but always the school uniform skirt." Harry says. "Never of your own choosing."
Hermione blushes. "That's very sweet."
"I didn't know you were so good with words." Helen says.
"Blame Hermione for giving me reading material, I'm a fast learner."
Helen laughs. "You've created a monster."
Hermione laughs. "I suppose I have."
Hermione slips on a pair of black Mary janes. "Picture time!" Helen says.
Harry and Hermione each put an arm around the other's waist as Helen takes the picture. "Come on, to the theater you two."
Hermione pulls out her wand. "Magic first."
Inside the cinema Hermione holds Harry's hand tight. The glamour holds so everyone sees a pair of 18 year olds at the theater and walk right past them. Harry stops and looks around the atrium amazed. "Come on, we'll want to hit the concession stand." Hermione says as she pulls him along.
Harry looks over everything. "That's a lot of different things."
Hermione nods. "We're going to dinner after right?'
"That was what you originally said. I'm good with that." Harry says. "Will you order us what you think would be best here?"
"Are you okay sharing a drink with me?" Hermione asks, blushing slightly. "Drinking from the same straw?'
"Of course. I know you haven't kissed me on purpose yet, but it'd be the same idea."
Hermione orders and Harry pays. They collect their concessions and head to their movie. Once inside Harry looks at the screen. "Is that where they are going to show the movie?"
Hermione nods. "Big difference from our little TV at home, huh?" Hermione was glad they had a couple movies on vhs that she and Harry watched over the last week. She wanted him ready for the experience.
Sometime during the movie Hermione jumps from one of the scenes. Harry smiles, she's leaning against him almost like she wants him to protect her. He reaches for her hand and squeezes it so slightly. She smiles slightly. He puts his hand on his knee and when Hermione leans into him his hand brushes her leg. Embarrassed, Harry quickly pulls his hand away. Hermione grabs his hand and places it on her knee just below where her skirt ends while she's sitting and rests her hand in his.
Harry managed to mostly pay attention to the movie even if his mind was distracted by having his hand on her knee. He gently squeezes her knee just to see what she does.
Hermione kisses his cheek and they enjoy the rest of the movie as the credits roll and the lights come on; they stand with everyone else.
Later that night they arrive home and head upstairs. Harry stops at Hermione's door. "Guess I should say good night."
"I want to talk for a bit." Hermione says. "The restaurant was too busy."
Harry nods. "Of course."
Hermione opens the door to her room and they go in. "So what did you think?"
"I really liked the movie." Harry says as he sits on the bed. "I really liked having you cling to me."
"It is nice to have a boyfriend to cling to." Hermione admits as she sits next to him.
"I certainly don't mind." Harry says. "Though I had a difficult time paying attention to the movie when you put my hand on your knee."
"What do you mean?" Hermione asks.
"I had some thoughts. How vulnerable it must feel to be in a skirt, even with these.. what exactly are they?"
"They're tights." Hermione answers as she kicks off her shoes before standing up and pulling her tights off and handing them to him before sitting down.
Harry looks at the tights. "They are like a thin pair of pants." He says as tosses them into her hamper.
Hermione nods, "They do the job."
"Interesting."
"So when I put your hand on my knee early you had some thoughts right?" Hermione asks and Harry nods. Then Hermione takes his hand and puts it on her now bare knee. "What's going through your head now?"
Harry blushes. "The first thought is how much you must trust me. The next one… let's just say those creatures from the movie couldn't feed on us."
"Nice to know you find me interesting in that way." Hermione says. Then leans over and kisses him. Harry kisses her back, his hand creeping up her skirt without thinking about it.
"That's one Hell of a good night kiss." Richard says from the doorway.
Harry and Hermione split apart both blushing heavily. "We got caught up in the moment." Harry says.
"I'm familiar with the idea." Richard says.
"I need to see mom about undoing my hair." Hermione says quickly, slipping out of the room.
"Are we in trouble?" Harry asks.
"Depends, was this your idea or Hermione's?"
"Hermione's, but I didn't exactly stop her." Harry admits.
Richard sighs and rubs his fingers through his hair. "You're not in trouble. I'm just worried about Hermione."
"I'll do my best to do right by her." Harry says.
Richsrd nods. "I guess I can't ask much more."
Hermione steps back into the room, her hair down. "Well, my boyfriend is still alive, so I suppose that went well."
"I'll leave you two to say good night." Richard says.
Hermione yawns. "I'd like to change and go to bed."
Harry gets up. "Of course, good night Mione." He kisses her cheek.
"A real good night kiss please." Hermione says. "I don't want to be the one initiating them every time."
Harry kisses her and pulls her against him as he does. Hermione melts into the kiss wrapping her arms around him. After a minute Harry breaks the kiss. "Good night."
Hermione smiles as she lets him go. "Good night." Hermione watches Harry head to his room, a part of her wanting him to stay.
