Chapter 3 - Cadmus

The room emptied quickly, the adults vanishing through the zeta tubes. One by one, the four sidekicks processed abandonment.

Robin was the first to break the silence. "So that's it? We're just supposed to sit here while they save the world?"

"Unfair." Aqualad's voice was low, controlled, but there was heat beneath it.

(I know, right.) he said telepathically

The mental voice perfectly captured the shared frustration. Four young heroes who had been trained, groomed, and trusted by the greatest heroes on Earth, yet were suddenly treated like toddlers.

Kid Flash slumped onto the couch, vibrating with annoyance. "Untested. Unfamiliar. Seriously? We fight alongside them every week." Robin kicked the coffee table lightly. "They treat us like kids."

(worse sidekicks.) he said telepathically

Aqualad nodded, his mental voice joining the conversation. "Exactly. They act like we're just their shadows, not heroes in our own right." Robin paced, his hands gesturing wildly as he projected his thoughts. "I mean, come on! We could've handled this!"

(what is project Cadmus why was Batman so interested in it?) he asked telepathically

The question made the others pause. Robin's eyes narrowed thoughtfully, his mind working. "Cadmus... it's a secret government project. Batman's always been suspicious of it. He thinks they're up to something shady." he slides over to the computer and start hacking into it.

(you're able to hack into the computer?) he said telepathically

Robin's fingers flew across the keys, a confident smirk spreading across his face. "Please. I've been hacking into Batman's computers since I was nine. This is child's play."

The screen flickered, scrolling through encrypted files at lightning speed. "There." He tapped a key, bringing up a classified file marked with a red Cadmus logo.

Robin frowned, his brow furrowed in concentration as he dug deeper. The more he uncovered, the more mundane it seemed. "Just a basic genetic research lab, according to this. Nothing out of the ordinary." He sat back, his frustration evident. "But why would Batman care about a simple lab?"

(maybe it's too normal I mean really how many genetic lab do you know of or something normal is actually happening.) he said remembering the number of villains and heroes that came from genetics, labs or labs in general.

"Exactly!" Robin's eyes widened as the realization hit. "Every major metahuman origin involves some kind of lab or experiment. Maybe Batman's not suspicious because it's secretive, but because it's too... ordinary." He turned back to the computer, typing furiously.

( I think we should go investigate solve their case before they do.) he said telepathically

The idea sent a thrill through all four sidekicks. Robin's grin widened, his competitive spirit igniting. "Yes! We could solve this before they even get back. Show them we're not just sidekicks!" Kid Flash bounced excitedly, vibrating with energy.

The scene was chaotic. Smoke billowed into the DC night sky, sirens wailing as firefighters struggled against the blaze. The structure of the Cadmus Labs building looked compromised, flames licking at the upper floors.

Robin dropped onto a nearby rooftop, Aqualad and Kid Flash flanking him. Black Bolt landed silently beside them. "Looks like a coordinated burn,"

(kid flash there are two on top of the building. Bring them down safely aqualed use your water to extinguish the fires. robin get into the building. See if you can find anything suspicious.)

The plan clicked into place instantly. Kid Flash was already a blur of motion. "On it!" Two figures crouched near the roof edge—possibly saboteurs or infiltrators. Kid Flash zoomed up the side of the building, grabbing them before they could jump or detonate something.

Aqualad extended his arms, summoning water from the firetrucks, dousing the flames in controlled streams.

once everything was dealt with the three of them, Robin at an elevator.

The elevator doors were scorched but intact. Robin gestured at the keypad, his eyes bright with discovery. "The fire's too contained. This was a distraction. The real target was down here." He pointed to the lower levels, marked with restricted access codes. "Cadmus has sublevels they don't advertise."

Kid Flash bounced on his heels. "So we're going down?"

Black bolt punched a hole into the elevator doors, revealing a Elevator shaft that goes down for it looks like Miles.

The shaft stretched down into darkness, far deeper than any standard building should go. Aqualad tilted his head. "This facility goes deeper than public records indicate."

Robin pulled out a small device—a WayneTech scanner. The readings spiked immediately. "There's something down there. Heavy energy signatures, biological readings... and they're not human."

Kid Flash gulped.

Black bolt grabbed kid flash and started floating downwards, while Robin Shot a grappling hook to the top so him, and Aqualed Slid down on the line behind them.

The descent was silent, the only sound the soft rustle of fabric and the occasional burst of Kid Flash's nervous laughter. As they neared the bottom, the shaft opened into a massive underground complex. The walls were lined with high-tech equipment and security cameras that were now offline.

at sub level 25 Robin's rope stopped. but there was still miles to go. (let's see what was behind the door.) said black bolt telepathically as he punched open the door revealing an expensive hallway with no one inside.

The hallway was pristine—polished floors, white walls, and advanced technology lining the corridors. It looked less like a laboratory and more like a high-end facility for something incredibly classified. There was absolutely zero security personnel present, which was suspicious.

Robin, Aqualad, and Kid Flash dropped down silently. "No guards," Robin whispered, scanning the tech. "That's wrong."

kid flash run down the hallway only to be surprised and slip as massive monsters started walking past Not even paying him attention

The monsters were enormous—twelve feet tall at least—with thick, grey skin and multiple limbs. They moved with a strange, coordinated purpose, completely oblivious to Kid Flash's presence. He froze on the floor, heart pounding.

"Uhh... guys?" Kid Flash whispered into the comms, his voice cracking. "We've got... company."

Black Bolt moved first, his mental voice calm but urgent. "Don't move."

The monsters kept walking, their massive forms casting long shadows down the pristine hallway. They were almost like... workers? One carried a crate marked with a familiar red Cadmus logo. They seemed completely uninterested in Kid Flash, continuing on their route without pause.

Aqualad pressed his back against the wall. "They haven't detected him."

Robin was already scanning the crates they carried.

Robin's scanner immediately flagged the contents. "Genetically engineered bio-weapons. These aren't random monsters; they're manufactured." The monsters were clones—lab-grown soldiers designed for heavy labor or combat.

Kid Flash stayed perfectly frozen, trembling slightly as three massive creatures stepped over him.

Black Bolt signaled firmly. *(Do. Not. Move.)* They were ignoring him. That was dangerous.

The last monster's footsteps faded into the distance. Kid Flash let out a shaky breath, scrambling back to the others. "What in the world were those things?" he whispered, eyes wide.

Robin's expression was grim. "Clone soldiers. But Cadmus' official records don't mention weaponized bio-organics. This is way beyond genetic research."

Aqualad pointed down the hallway.

they went to the door and robin quickly hacked into it, and it open to reveal the creatures inside chambers that seem to be feeding this place electricity.

The room was enormous—rows upon rows of massive tubes stretching endlessly into the darkness. Inside each tube floated one of the grey-skinned creatures, suspended in a glowing amber fluid. Thick cables ran from their bodies, connecting them to the facility's energy grid.

"Each one is generating power," Robin breathed. "They're not weapons. They're batteries."

Kid Flash's voice trembled.

Black bolt saw a computer. (Robin hack into it.) He said as Robin looked up what exactly These creatures were

Robin's fingers flew over the keyboard, bypassing security protocols with ease. The screen flickered to life, displaying classified files. He scanned quickly—genetic code, power output stats, creation dates... Then his eyes widened.

"Project: Genomorph," Robin read aloud, his voice tight. The files detailed how each creature was engineered to serve a specific purpose. "The grey ones are the Genomorphs. They're being used as living batteries to power a larger experiment."

Aqualad leaned in closer. "A larger experiment? What's that mean?"

Kid Flash wiped sweat from his forehead. "No one knows?"

just then the door on the other side of the room Opened and The Guardian stepped through the opening, his eyes glowing with barely contained rage. His four combat Genomorphs fanned out behind him—sleeker, stronger, designed for killing rather than labor. The power readings from these creatures dwarfed the ones in the tubes.

The Guardian recognized them immediately. The sidekicks froze.

"Cadmus property,"

Black bolt activates his energy and blast them away all four of them start running towards the nearest elevator, barely making it inside as they start going further down. (Robin, why are we going down?) Asked the black bolt.

" Because that bigger project is further down we're already in pretty deep. What's going a little deeper going to do.) said Robin

The elevator plunged deeper into the earth, the numbers counting down—35, 40, 46... Each passing floor sent a chill down their spines. At level 50, the doors opened onto a expensive place It looked more organic than man-made.

They quickly went through the facility until they found the project quickly going inside and locking the door. They saw the Project was a girl this girl had black hair and was in a white suit on the front of the suit was the A big red S Same as the one on Superman and She's currently inside of a pod to help her absorb solar radiation the pod itself has the words KR on it.

The sidekicks stood frozen, staring at the girl in the pod. Black hair, white suit, the iconic red S—it was unmistakable.

"No way," Kid Flash whispered. "Is that... a Kryptonian?"

Robin's scanner confirmed it. "Kryptonian DNA. Solar radiation absorption in progress."

Aqualad moved closer to the pod. "What's happening here? Why is Cadmus cloning Kryptonians?"

black bolt look closely at the data. (They're not Attempting to clone a kryptonian they cloned well attempted to clone Superman.) He said telepathically

The room fell silent as the implications sank in. They weren't dealing with a random Kryptonian clone—they were looking at an attempt to replicate Superman himself. The red S, the solar absorption pod labeled 'KR' (Kryptonian Replication). Robin's hands shook slightly as he processed the data.

Kid Flash whispered, "The League's gonna want to know about this. This is massive. If Cadmus succeeds in making their own Superman, everything changes."

Robin's eyes scanned the data. "It's not just cloning. They've been experimenting on the DNA, modifying it. That Kryptonian strand is... stronger than Superman's normal readings would suggest."

Suddenly, the control panel began flashing red.

(We need to get her out of here Robin unlock her pod.) send black ball telepathically

Robin nodded, already working on the encryption. "Give me thirty seconds." His fingers flew across the controls, bypassing Cadmus firewalls. The pod hissed, releasing pressurized gas as the seals unlocked. The girl inside stirred, her eyelids flickering.

"Careful," Aqualad warned, stepping closer. "If this is a Kryptonian, even a clone..."

The glass slid open.

Her eyes opened with fury as she charged tackling aqualad to the ground as and attempted to punch him, but black boat stopped her and punched her sending her against the wall. (Calm down we're not here to fight you.) He said telepathically, but that only seemed to irritate her more kid flash try to distract her only to get punched to the side and knocked out what came in next with a taser, but that didn't do anything. She grabbed the line and knocked him out as well.

Aqualad watched his two teammates go down. "She's powered up already—must've absorbed enough sunlight." The girl charged again, this time at him. He threw a batarang that exploded on impact, staggering her but not stopping her momentum. She grabbed his arm and tossed him aside like a ragdoll.

Black Bolt intercepted her, stepping between her and the fallen heroes.

The clash was devastating. Every punch Black Bolt threw landed with enough force to shatter reinforced steel, while the girl returned hits that hit with literal Kryptonian power. The floor cracked beneath them, shockwaves rattling the entire facility. She wasn't holding back—pure aggression, speed, and strength matching Black Bolt perfectly.

Aqualad realized with horror: this wasn't just a clone.

Black Bolt's eyes widened in shock as a searing heat enveloped him. He managed to turn his head just enough to avoid the laser beam's full force, but the punch still connected with bone-jarring impact. His vision swam, darkness creeping in from the edges. He hit the ground hard, unconscious.

The facility went deadly silent. The entire team—Kid Flash, Robin, Black Bolt, and Aqualad—was sprawled across the floor, completely unconscious. The Kryptonian girl stood over them, her chest heaving, eyes glowing fiercely with solar-powered fury.

She was stronger than anticipated. Not just a clone, but an engineered powerhouse. The door behind them slid open.

The Guardian stepped aside, revealing the Head Director of Cadmus—a stern woman in a sharp lab coat, Dr. Desmond. She didn't even glance at the fallen sidekicks; her eyes were locked entirely on the girl.

"Subject," Desmond commanded calmly. "Stand down."

The girl instantly relaxed, the red glow fading from her eyes.

"Excellent," Desmond murmured, circling the girl like a proud scientist. "Solar absorption complete, aggressive defense protocol activated perfectly. You've exceeded expectations, KR-S1."
