After Rachel and Jeffrey got back to the Gray family's house, Jeffrey asked, "Are you disappointed? We went all the way to Sun City and didn't find any useful clues."
Rachel shook her head. "Not at all."
"Not disappointed?" He sounded a little surprised.
"Because you're willing to help me find clues to clear my name," she said softly. "Whether we find anything or not, I'm just happy."
It felt like he genuinely trusted her. The walls that used to stand between them were slowly crumbling.
He looked at her for a long moment, seeing how badly she wanted to overturn the verdict.
He knew he could give her a clean slate, but not the truth. The truth she wanted so badly to know.
"As long as you're happy," he said, a faint smile on his lips as he changed the subject. "You don't have to work for the next few days. What do you plan on doing?"
"I want to visit my grandmother in a couple of days," she answered.
