On the other end of the phone, Lauren's voice came through. "Rachel, Liam's surgery went really well. The doctor said that in a few days, once Liam adjusts, they can start training him to recognize sounds."
"That's amazing news!" Rachel felt a wave of relief rush over her. "Okay, I'll come by this afternoon to see Liam."
After confirming which hospital room Liam was staying in, Rachel hung up the call.
"Was that about the boy who can't hear?" Jeffrey asked, looking at her.
"Yeah. Liam's surgery was a success. I have some free time this afternoon, so I want to visit him at the hospital," Rachel said.
"Then I'll come with you," Jeffrey said.
"You will?" Rachel raised her eyebrows in surprise. "But… don't you have work?"
"I'll just tell my secretary to move my afternoon meetings. None of them are super urgent," he replied casually.
But Rachel knew better. As the CEO of such a massive company, there was rarely anything that wasn't urgent for him.
