A sudden wave of happiness rushed through Rachel's chest.
Just the fact that he believed in her, who knew something so small could make her feel this happy?
Jeffrey stared at her seriously, then said softly, "But you also have to believe in me. If I had met you earlier… if I had known I'd fall for you this deeply… I would've never let you go through all that pain."
Rachel froze.
She realized he was talking about the time she spent in prison, all because people had gone after her just to please him.
"Yeah," she answered quietly.
No matter what happened between them before, maybe it was finally time to slowly let it all go.
If she wanted something real with him, she'd have to stop being scared too.
