In the hospital room, silence reigned; no one made a sound.
Rachel felt Old Master Gray's intense gaze fixed on her, a look that seemed to carry a mix of disdain and disgust.
Beside Old Master Gray stood a nurse and a man who introduced himself as Old Master Gray's personal secretary.
"Do you know why I had you brought here?" After a long pause, Old Master Gray's voice shattered the stillness.
"I do," Rachel replied. "It's because of Jeffrey." On the way here, she had felt a mix of anxiety and tension, but now, under Old Master Gray's contemptuous stare, she found an unexpected sense of calm. After all, she had already faced the worst situations in her life; how much worse could it get?
Old Master Gray snorted. "So you do know!"
"What do you want to say?" Rachel asked directly.
Perhaps it was the weight of her experiences that had drained her; she was too tired to play games anymore.
