Chapter 259 - Chapter 259 Kakashi and Kurenai

Kawaki couldn't figure out where these two little ones found so much to talk about. They hadn't stopped talking the whole way.

Being so young, they struggled to put their thoughts into words, so they resorted to exaggerated hand gestures.

He watched in complete bewilderment while the two were already laughing hysterically.

Kawaki didn't even bother asking—if they could explain it clearly, they wouldn't have needed all that hand waving.

Before long, they arrived at the school gate.

Because Kawaki had overslept, class had already begun.

As soon as they entered the campus, both training fields on either side of the entrance were already full of students.

From time to time, the sound of shuriken and kunai striking their targets echoed through the air.

"Uncle, will me and Kurenai have to come to school too when we grow up?"

Kakashi wasn't really interested in target practice—he'd seen plenty of skilled ninjas back home.

This kind of basic training didn't interest him in the slightest.

"That's right. And if your grades are bad, you'll get spanked too."

Kawaki raised his hand slightly, causing Kurenai to instinctively flinch.

"Uncle, don't scare people like that."

"Don't be afraid, Kurenai."

"Uncle's just kidding you."

After saying this to Kawaki, Kakashi immediately turned around to comfort Kurenai.

What a sweet little gentleman he was.

"Uncle, I promise I'll study hard."

Kurenai glanced at Kawaki, finally relaxing when she saw his smiling face.

"How are you so adorable?!"

Kawaki ruffled Kurenai's hair playfully.

Watching Kakashi gently smooth her hair back into place, he couldn't help but feel how perfectly this childhood couple looked together.

The fateful bond he had helped weave felt so right—definitely not a random match-up.

Let Asuma find his own path somewhere else!

"Lord Kawaki."

"Principal."

As Kawaki passed by, teachers and students alike greeted him.

Everyone's eyes soon turned to Kakashi and Kurenai.

These two adorable kids were simply irresistible.

"You all keep practicing."

Kawaki nodded without slowing his pace.

"Yes, sir."

The instructor resumed correcting the students' techniques.

"Keep moving! Faster strikes, sharper aim!"

The teacher demonstrated once, while Kawaki had already entered the office building.

"Uncle, is the principal the biggest boss here?"

Still so young, Kakashi hadn't quite grasped these concepts yet.

"Yeah, why do you ask?"

Kawaki glanced back at Kakashi, curious what this clever kid might say next.

"So, when I start coming here, can you give me days off?"

"Just like Dad gives Minato big brother time off?"

Clever Kakashi already had his logic all worked out.

He knew Minato and the others now report directly to Sakumo.

"Kakashi, that's not right."

"My dad said going to school makes you smarter."

Shinryu Yūhi, an experienced instructor, had indeed taught Kurenai well.

"I'm already super smart."

"I don't need school."

Kakashi remained unimpressed—the idea of playing at home every day still sounded far more appealing.

"Better forget that idea entirely."

"Be grateful I don't make you live at the school full-time."

Chuckling, Kawaki playfully flicked Kakashi's forehead.

Better to squash such bad ideas early on.

Kakashi was a genius, after all—he couldn't afford to fool himself.

"I don't like Uncle anymore."

Kakashi stuck out his lower lip, and tears immediately streamed down his face.

That really hurt Kawaki deeper than he anticipated.

"You're sure you don't want me as your uncle anymore?"

"Then I'll leave you at school."

Kawaki stopped walking and stared unblinkingly at Kakashi.

This little brat dared to act tough? Blood is thicker than water—did he really think he could just deny their bond?

"I'm sorry."

Kakashi glanced around. Aunt wasn't here to back him up.

A wise man avoids unnecessary trouble—he'd tell on her later.

"Don't think I don't know what's going through your head."

Kawaki completely saw through the kid's little tricks.

Kurenai hid a smile behind her hand. This was exactly what Kakashi deserved.

"I didn't think anything, seriously—I really know I was wrong."

"And I'll definitely study hard from now on."

Kakashi suspected his thoughts had been read—guessing his own little schemes had been exposed.

"That's better."

Kawaki nodded in satisfaction. He was actually quite pleased with how quickly Kakashi apologized.

He then turned and continued walking toward his office.

Once there, Kawaki walked straight to his desk and sat down.

As always, there were no papers waiting for him.

He was basically here just to clock in and put on a show.

If anything important came up, Onoda would naturally track him down.

Everyone in Konoha knew where the Hatake family lived.

"Let me help you down."

Kakashi jumped off Little White first, then held Kurenai's small hand and helped her climb down.

"Thank you."

Kurenai smiled sweetly, making a cute expression.

Combined with her red eyes, she was absolutely adorable.

"You're so pretty."

Ignoring his own uncle's shocked look, Kakashi gently cupped her rosy cheeks and planted a kiss.

"Hehe~"

Kurenai didn't mind at all—maybe she didn't yet distinguish between boys and girls.

"What is this kid even learning this from?"

Kawaki muttered under his breath. If Kakashi had been this smooth in the original plot, how could he have ended up alone?

Knock knock~

Someone knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Kawaki took his feet off the table and sat upright properly.

He still needed to maintain the proper image of a principal.

"My Lord Kawaki, excuse my interruption."

Onoda pushed the door open with a smile on his face.

Since the reform of the ninja academy, he'd been buried in work.

But hard work always paid off. Now, he walked into meetings with far more confidence.

Oh right—

That confidence would only grow stronger over time.

By the time he retired, he'd surely have students everywhere—a teacher with countless disciples.

"Principal Onoda, anything I can do for you?"

Kawaki didn't pull rank, since the old man handled everything anyway.

If someone else took over, things wouldn't run nearly as smoothly.

"Nothing serious, it's just that you haven't come to school for a while."

"I wanted to update you on recent developments at the academy."

Onoda's actions were understandable. Kawaki had indeed spent a long time away in Kirigakure.

"No need for a report—I trust your abilities."

Kawaki didn't feel like listening. What big deal could possibly happen at a school that small?

He couldn't bring himself to refuse outright, so he began by showering the old man with praise.

"Thank you for your trust, Lord Kawaki."

"Whose child is this?"

Onoda now turned his gaze toward Kakashi and Kurenai.

Kakashi's hair color, the same as Kawaki's, made it easy to tell who he was.

He guessed this must be Sakumo's son.

As for Kurenai, he wasn't quite sure.

"The son of my older brother and the daughter of Shinryu Yūhi."

"You two, go ahead and greet him properly."

Kawaki gave a brief introduction and told Kakashi and Kurenai to address Onoda respectfully.

"Hello, Grandpa."

Kakashi and Kurenai politely greeted him. Onoda was easily old enough to be their grandfather.

"Such well-behaved children! Both of you are adorable."

With a warm smile, Onoda ruffled their hair. His own grandson was slightly older than them.

"I just bought some snacks earlier. Let me go get them for you."

Without waiting for Kawaki's reply, he left through the door.

A moment later, Onoda returned and brought back some snacks for Kakashi and Kurenai—originally meant for his eldest grandson.

"Thank you, Grandpa."

Seeing that Kawaki didn't stop them, Kakashi and Kurenai accepted the snacks and thanked him.

In front of guests, they both acted properly and showed excellent manners.

"No need to be so formal."

He patted both children on the head. The more he looked at them, the more he liked them.

"I still have things to do, so I'll take my leave first."

After greeting Kawaki again, Onoda took his departure.

Once he closed the door behind him, Kakashi and Kurenai immediately started eating.

Taking turns nibbling at snacks and feeding each other—they were clearly having a blast.

Occasionally giving Little White the occasional nibble was all it took to send its tail spinning in circles.

"Two little snack lovers."

Kawaki chuckled with a shake of his head.

Kids will always love snacks—even in the world of Naruto, that never changed.

He didn't mind not having to supervise them. He propped his feet up on the desk and began to relax with his eyes closed.

Eventually, noon arrived. Kawaki took the two children home.

He cheerfully returned them to their mothers, finally feeling relieved.

Days passed, and Kawaki's life slowly returned to normal.

His happiest moments came when working with Tsunade to help the Hatake family prepare for the arrival of a new member.

They also longed for a child of their own soon.
