Chapter 1 - Ch 2 : The Last Mourning

Rajesh stood frozen, unable to comprehend what had just happened. The weight of the moment crushed him from the inside. Silent and numb, he stumbled into the washroom, his thoughts unraveling. Every memory he had ever shared with his sister splintered into pieces—her laughter, her dreams, her love for him. Gone. Just like that.

But outside, the room was erupting with fury.

Karan's mother's voice cut through the thick air like a knife. "How could you do this to your own sister? You killed her!"

Karan stepped forward, his eyes blazing. "We didn't want to believe it—but you were here with her! You… you're her brother, and yet—how could you?"

Rajesh's lips trembled. His voice was hollow. "I… I don't know… I…"

"You were jealous, weren't you?" Karan growled. "She was going to marry into a wealthy family, and that burned you up inside. All you ever wanted was money. Admit it—I'm right, aren't I?"

Karan's mother spat in disgust. "Call the police. Now."

Rajesh didn't move. He remained kneeling beside his sister's lifeless body, murmuring something no one could understand. His hands trembled as they gently brushed her blood-streaked hair. He looked like a ghost clinging to the last thread of his sanity.

Karan marched up to him and grabbed his arm, trying to pull him away. "Get away from her!"

But Rajesh didn't budge.

Karan pushed harder. Still nothing. It was as if Rajesh had become part of the floor itself, a stone carved in agony.

Anger surged through Karan's veins. He clenched his jaw and slammed his foot into Rajesh's face, knocking him backward. Blood trickled from Rajesh's mouth, but even then, he crawled forward—closer, closer to his sister—his voice broken, murmuring her name like a prayer.

That was when Karan's mother made a decision. "Bring the rest of the family," she said coldly.

One by one, the relatives came. And when they saw the scene—the wedding room drenched in sorrow and blood, Rajesh hunched over the body like a shattered statue—their faces twisted in horror.

"Look at him," Karan's mother said. "Shameless. He hasn't moved an inch after killing his own sister. I'm disgusted. Drag him out of here!"

Voices rose in anger, condemning Rajesh's character, his nature, his very existence. Rough hands grabbed him, trying to tear him away from the girl he once swore to protect. But then something terrifying happened.

Rajesh resisted. With a sudden force no one expected, he pulled all of them back, as though grief had awakened something primal inside him. His eyes, once hollow, now burned with anguish and rage.

"If your own sister dies in front of your eyes," he whispered, "and you can't save her… that is a brother's greatest defeat."

The room fell into stunned silence—only broken by the gasping breaths of those who had tried to restrain him. Exhausted, they backed away.

But Karan couldn't take it anymore. With a cry of fury, he lunged and punched Rajesh again. Once. Twice. Blood sprayed from Rajesh's mouth, but he didn't fight back. He just stared at his sister.

Karan pulled his fist back for another blow, but his mother stopped him.

"Enough," she said sharply. "If the police see this, they'll never believe us. Let the law deal with him. He'll pay."

Breathing heavily, Karan nodded.

But Rajesh didn't hear them. He was no longer in that room. He was somewhere else—lost in the memory of the girl who once called him 'brother.'

The sound of sirens pierced the air as the police van halted at the building's entrance. Karan's uncle rushed forward, leading the officers up the stairs. The moment they stepped into the room, a heavy silence fell over them. Rajesh sat motionless on the floor, cradling his sister's blood-soaked body. His eyes were empty, far away, as if he no longer belonged to this world.

Inspector Adityanath, a seasoned officer known for his unshakable resolve, scanned the room with a sharp gaze. "What happened here?" he asked curtly.

Karan's mother stepped forward, her voice trembling with fury. "He killed her. His own sister. She loved him more than anyone, and he repaid her with death."

Karan added quickly, "He was jealous. She was going to marry into a wealthy family. He couldn't stand it."

Adityanath's expression didn't waver. He turned to his men. "Detain him."

Two officers approached, but Rajesh didn't flinch. He clung to Madhu's body, whispering inaudible words. They tried pulling him back, but he didn't budge. Finally, Adityanath stepped forward. With a powerful grip, he tore Rajesh away in one swift motion, dragging him from the room as gasps echoed behind him.

Outside, rage erupted in Rajesh. Without warning, he struck the officer square in the jaw, sending him stumbling back. The crowd recoiled, stunned into silence.

Adityanath stood straight, wiped his mouth, and stared coldly at him. "You talk of love, but your sister lies dead. You failed her. Or worse—betrayed her."

Rajesh's fists trembled. His breath shook. "I didn't kill her," he said, voice cracking. "I went to the washroom… when I returned, she was lying there… in blood…"

But before he could finish, Adityanath's fist flew forward, connecting with his face. Rajesh collapsed, unconscious.

"Get him in the car," the inspector ordered.

The officers obeyed swiftly. Behind them, Karan's family looked on with grim satisfaction.

"Thank you, officer," Karan's mother said. "He deserves no mercy."

Adityanath didn't respond. He simply turned to his men and said, "Call an ambulance. Now."

As the police van disappeared into the misty streets, carrying an unconscious Rajesh, a silence settled over the house—only to be broken by a low chuckle. Inside, the remaining family members—Karan, his parents, his uncle, and aunt—sat gathered on the living room sofa. Their faces, moments ago steeped in grief and rage, now twisted into wicked satisfaction.

Karan leaned back with a smirk, exhaling slowly. "What a performance," he murmured. "Executed just as we planned. Poor Rajesh didn't even see it coming."

His mother laughed coldly. "Serves him right. Madhu had the audacity to support that lawyer, to think for herself. Now she and her foolish brother have paid the price."

Their laughter echoed through the room like the hiss of a venomous snake. Not a single trace of remorse lingered in their eyes.

By 3 A.M., under the cover of darkness, Karan loaded Madhu's lifeless body into a black SUV. The city lay still, wrapped in sleep, as he drove along the highway, heading toward an abandoned house on the outskirts—a place where daylight never dared to linger.

The house stood like a tomb, decaying and forgotten. Inside, the air reeked of blood and formalin. Glass jars lined the shelves—each containing something grotesque: a heart, an eye, a liver, and worse. It was less a home, more a macabre museum of human anatomy.

From the shadows emerged the house's master—an old man in his seventies, hunched and trembling, yet with eyes gleaming like a ravenous beast. His cracked lips curled into a horrific smile at the sight of fresh flesh.

Karan dragged Madhu's body in and dropped her onto a blood-stained metal bench. The old man rushed forward, sniffing the blood like a wolf drawn to prey.

Disgusted, Karan grabbed him by the collar. "Don't get excited, you freak. Do your job. Harvest what you need. Quickly. Or you know what'll happen."

The old man gulped and nodded. "Y-Yes… of course."

Karan tossed a bundle of cash on the table—₹50,000 in crisp notes. "The rest will be in your account. Burn the body after you're done."

Without waiting for a reply, Karan turned and walked out, disappearing into the night as the old man loomed over the corpse—scalpel glinting in the dim, flickering light.

To understand the purpose behind Karan's actions and the deep grudge on his face toward that poor family—even leading to one of their deaths—we must go five years back.

At that time, Madhu was still in college, appearing for her law exam. Sharp as ever, she completed her answers swiftly and submitted the paper within just 60 minutes, while most students were still struggling. This caught the eye of Vidya Malakar, a senior invigilator and a lawyer, who was watching the CCTV footage from the control room. Noticing Madhu's confidence, Vidya smirked and decided to test her.

Once the exam ended, Vidya entered the hall and stopped Madhu. "Sit down," she said firmly.

Surprised, Madhu asked politely, "What happened, ma'am?"

Vidya responded, "I know you cheated in the exam. This is a law advocate exam—you will be expelled and your marks will be confiscated."

Without a hint of fear, Madhu replied boldly, "Ma'am, I think you're wrong. My brother works day and night just to support me. I've reached here through my own hard work. I don't even know how to cheat. You have no right to expel me without proof. If you show me any, I'll surrender. After all, law demands evidence."

Vidya smiled, then hugged her with pride. "Hmm… you're exactly what I heard you were. Everyone in the college talks about you—like a machine when it comes to studying law. That's why I decided to observe you myself. And yes, I know all about your history, about your brother."

Madhu, confused, asked, "You know about me and my brother?"

Vidya nodded and said firmly, "Yes. And that's why I need your help. You're the only one I can trust."

Madhu stood silent, puzzled. Vidya leaned closer and said, "Now, I'm going to tell you something sinister that's going to happen in the future."

What was the plan Vidya was talking about?

And why did she choose Madhu as her subordinate?

All of this will unfold in the next chapter.
