Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 7: Shina's Past

Shina's Past:

Shina Hesena was a 16-year-old girl who lived in a grand mansion. Born into a wealthy family, Shina once led a cheerful life when her mother was still alive. At seven years old, she was a happy, lively child. But everything changed when she turned eight—her mother fell gravely ill. Despite countless medical consultations, the doctors couldn't find a cure. In the end, her mother didn't make it.

The loss devastated Shina. Anger and sadness consumed her, for her mother was the only person she could talk to. Her father, overly protective because of their family's status, never allowed her to make friends outside. As a result, Shina grew up isolated and alone.

At 13, her father remarried. His new wife already had a daughter named Fina. Fina, a selfish and bratty girl, moved into the mansion and immediately began tormenting Shina. Although Shina initially ignored the bullying—believing it was her father's happiness at stake—Fina's cruelty only intensified over time.

When Shina turned 14, her father finally enrolled her in a regular school, thinking she was mature enough to protect herself. To Shina's dismay, Fina also attended the same school and became her classmate. Unbeknownst to her father, Fina continued to bully Shina at school, aiming to outshine her and become their father's favorite. At home, Shina remained quiet and kept to herself, rarely speaking since her father was always busy.

Her stepmother and Fina openly disliked her, and she often overheard them plotting, saying, "I hope Shina disappears from this house so we can have all the money to ourselves." When they noticed that Shina overheard them, the stepmother threatened her—warning that if she told her father, both he and she would be in danger.

Shina kept silent, enduring more severe bullying as a result. At school, Fina would splash water on her, destroy her desk, and spread false rumors. The harassment never stopped, even as Shina turned 17. To escape, she would hide in the library—Fina's least favorite place—where she found peace among the books.

Despite trying to make friends, Fina always got in the way, spreading lies about her and driving people away. Shina's world became a lonely, suffocating existence.

RING!!!

The school bell rang, signaling the end of the break. Kaede returned to his seat, resting his chin on his hand as he gazed out the classroom window. The gentle breeze ruffled his hair as he lost himself in thought.

Lary, in high spirits, slapped Kaede's back and proudly displayed his latest prize from the arcade—a limited edition "Robot Magic" jacket. "Yo! Kaede, check this out! I scored this yesterday! Can you believe it?" Lary's excitement was contagious.

Yumi, exhausted from paperwork, staggered into the room. "Water! I need water!" she pleaded, prompting Lary to hand her his bottle. After gulping it down, she gave him a grateful nod.

Still eager to boast, Lary turned to Kaede again. "So, what do you think? Cool, right?" But when he looked over, Kaede had already left the room, leaving Lary embarrassed for talking to an empty chair. Yumi couldn't help but laugh.

Kaede, meanwhile, stood at the bathroom sink, splashing warm water on his face. As he looked into the mirror, he noticed something strange—his eyes appeared to be changing color, shifting to a faint blue. Unsettled but not overly alarmed, he decided to head back to the classroom.

He asked Lary and Yumi about his eyes, but they just shrugged it off as normal. Lary then resumed his enthusiastic rant about the jacket. Kaede, trying to act as he used to, mustered a forced, "Yo, that's cool, haha." Lary, unimpressed, shot him a skeptical look.

After school, as Kaede and Yumi walked down the hallway, as they walk, Kaede overheard Fina speaking and he stop while Yumi still continues walking outside he heard Fina venomously about someone. Kaede's mind flashed back to earlier when he saw Fina and her friends laughing while Shina walked away, visibly upset.

Before Kaede could hear the whole conversation, Fina noticed someone listening, forcing him to quickly leave the area to avoid being caught. The only words he managed to hear clearly were: "I want to get rid of that trash. She's standing in the way of my father's fortune. I'll do whatever it takes to remove that pathetic Sh—"
