Anna stared hard at Aidan after what he had just blurted out. The more she watched him smile at her, the more her anger was melting, and the more she found it hard to believe him.
He was the Great Dane.
He was described to be a powerful man, yet he was letting his mother dictate for him.
He had sent her a message about his weekend marriage with Helena and Anna was sure that the wedding was still on. The fact that he had sent Felix to deliver a folder to her meant that was his backup plan, and she wouldn't let that happen.
Without another word, Anna looked away from Aidan and stepped back into the car, her shoulders stiff and her gaze fixed forward.
Aidan lingered for only a heartbeat before circling around to the driver's side. He sank into his seat with a slouch. He started the car, the low hum of the engine filling the air between them as he drove off.
