Inside the spacious house, Maura pressed her ear against the wooden door, body pickling. She hadn't drugged Selina to watch them end up together in bed.
That wasn't the plan. If anything, she should be the one straddling Zane, as she had long craved.
Still, no moans, no raised voices, no movement. Minutes had passed since they arrived, yet Zane hadn't stepped out.
"Excuse me, miss. You're blocking the way."
Maura's shoulder trembled. She spun around. A young man in a white coat, a nurse behind him, carrying a medical kit. She stepped aside.
She stepped aside as the doctor and nurse entered Selina's room.
When the door creaked open, Zane — who had been standing at the window — turned toward them. He had called Doctor Philip on the way home.
"Mr Kaius," Doctor Philip greeted as he approached the bed where Selina lay. "You certainly have your ways of dealing with situations."
