Synopsis
At the heart of a magical academy divided by seasons, the summer campus welcomes new students to their first class, a lesson unlike any other. Professor Fire, a stern and mysterious instructor, hands out glowing golden grimoires to each student. Yet, when the books are opened, they reveal nothing but blank pages. The students are puzzled, but Professor Fire gives them a simple task: take a nap and write down their dreams. Only then will their grimoires awaken and become their own. Among the students is Park Rain, a visually impaired girl who has never dreamed her world has always been blank. When she raises this concern, Professor Fire doesn’t dismiss her, but instead hints at a special kind of dream only she can access. Esso, a spirited and talkative classmate, tries to befriend Rain but unintentionally touches on her vulnerability. To make amends, she suggests they explore the underground campus, where it's always nighttime, perhaps the perfect place to trigger a dream. Joined by the thoughtful Kim Dream, the trio descends into the moonlit underworld of the school. There, they stumble upon an advanced magic class where students are learning to interpret the language of animals. A magical fox alerts the class to the presence of intruders namely, the curious trio. Retreating quietly, the three friends find hammocks hung between ancient trees in the underground forest and prepare to follow their assignment: to dream. As they drift into sleep, Park Rain clutches her blank grimoire, unsure if sleep will bring her anything at all. But as the quiet sets in, a shadowy presence begins to creep toward her dark, formless, and oddly familiar. A story of magical education, identity, and the unseen world within dreams, The Dreambound Campus explores how what makes us different may be the very thing that unlocks the greatest magic of all.

Chapter 1 - Kim Dream’s First Day

"Wow! The seasons are changing!"

Kim Dream wakes up to the voice of a student on the train. She had been dreaming of flying in the sky, possibly on her way to transfer schools after crossing many mountains and highways.

Rain pours down outside the train window, but as the train exits a tunnel, the rain disappears and suddenly, pure white snow fills the view through the window.

"Wait... It's April. Springtime…"

As the snowy view fades and the train passes through another tunnel, the landscape transforms again — this time into full-bloom cherry blossoms.

'So it was true that this school has all four seasons…'

The school she's entering is divided into four zones, each representing a season. Every time the train passes through a tunnel, the scenery shifts — spring, summer, autumn, and winter — with the campus divided accordingly.

New students find out which seasonal campus they'll belong to during the orientation at the main hall.

"Wow! Look at that! I think we're almost there!"

A student sitting nearby lights a match inside the train. Even in the windless compartment, the flame points steadily in one direction, like a compass needle.

"They say if you follow the flame, it'll lead you to the fire magic professor who once defeated a fire spirit!"

"Hey, student! Put that match out! What do you think you're doing in a train?!"

The train attendant immediately stops the student. The student, with bright red hair, puts the match out and turns to Kim Dream.

"Hi! You're a freshman too, right? I'm Esso!"

"Yeah, I'm Kim Dream… Are we almost there?"

"Yep! You saw it too, right? No matter what kind of fire you light, the flame points to the fire magic professor!"

"This stop is… Dream School. Now arriving at Dream School Station."

As the announcement echoes through the train, freshmen hurry to gather their things and get off. Students pull large suitcases, nearly as big as themselves.

"Kim Dream, did you see how the weather changed from rain to snow to cherry blossoms when we went through the tunnels?"

"Ah… I was asleep."

"It was amazing!! What season do you think your campus will be?"

"I think… probably summer?"

"Ooh! Me too! I hope I get the summer campus!"

"Why do you want to be on the summer campus?"

"Where I lived in California, it almost never rained! But I heard the rain here is super refreshing!"

And just like that, with her new friend Esso, Kim Dream's first day at the magic school begins.

"Welcome to the Magic School. Dream School is…"

A headmaster with a scruffy beard is giving a speech to 80 new students in the central park, where all four seasonal campuses meet. Professors are gathered near him, and hammocks are strung up between trees for students to nap in.

"This is a school where you can sleep anywhere, anytime. Most of your classes will take place in your dreams."

The students cheer at the thought of being allowed to sleep as much as they want.

"And now, it's time for campus assignments. Each student, please step forward one by one…"

One student steps up to a painted 2D-style window on a tree wall next to the headmaster.

Suddenly, inside the black-and-white window frame, a magical scene of blooming spring flowers appears.

"Spring Campus!"

The headmaster announces the student's assignment. The next student steps up — now snow gently falls inside the window.

"Winter Campus!"

Then students are assigned to the Autumn Campus, with vivid orange foliage, until finally, it's Kim Dream's turn.

"Kim Dream!"

As she approaches the magical window, her heart races. At first, nothing appears. Then a bright, sunny beach emerges inside the frame.

"Summer Campus!"

She's thrilled to be placed in the season she wanted, though also a bit nervous at the thought of the fire professor becoming her homeroom teacher. As she lines up in the summer campus group, Esso joins her.

"Do you know who the fire professor is?"

"No, probably one of those people over there?"

"Should we find out?"

Without hesitation, Esso lights another match. As soon as the flame appears, it lifts into the air and shoots like a gust of wind toward one of the professors. The match is caught instinctively by a figure dressed head-to-toe in black — short black hair, black clothes, black gloves. The fire flares fiercely once in their hand before being snuffed out instantly.

The white smoke from the extinguished match drifts toward Esso, forming a string-like shape that winds around his hand and pulls it up into the air, as if tying it in place. Students around laugh at Esso's sudden punishment.

"Did you see that? Amazing! That's the fire professor!"

Esso exclaims, even with his hand still bound by the smoke. But the smoke begins to tighten.

"Ow! Ow! That hurts!"

The fire professor glares coldly and intimidatingly at him.

"And now... our final student, Park Rain!"

The headmaster calls out the last name. A girl taps her wooden cane as she makes her way forward — she is blind.

"Everyone, Rain is visually impaired, so no matter which campus she's assigned to, please help her as needed…"

As Park Rain steps up to the magical window, an image of a volcano forms, lava bubbling ominously as if it might erupt at any moment. The professors exchange serious looks, but the headmaster announces with his usual calm tone:

"Summer Campus!"
