Chapter 37 - 37

Half a month ago.

"Biyun, you useless old hen who can't lay eggs, a filthy woman used by thousands, how dare you blame my son for finding another woman? If you could give him a son, would he have gone looking elsewhere?"

Biyun's cruel mother-in-law, Madam Zhou, shouted harshly.

"Mom, I'm not a hen who can't lay eggs, I've already given birth to three children!"

Biyun held her three daughters tightly as they knelt on the ground with her, afraid that Madam Zhou's beatings would land on the children.

"You gave birth to three worthless girls just like you, and you still dare to speak? You shameless tramp! I'll beat you to death for talking back, for giving birth to these little pests that annoy me.

And you want a divorce? You're an old woman with three burdens. Other than my Daxing, who else would want a jinx like you?"

Madam Zhou cursed and beat her harder and harder, completely ignoring the heartbreaking cries of the children.

"Daxing found a widow and got her pregnant. They want me to take care of her, but when I refused, my mother-in-law beat me unconscious. When I woke up, I was already in the mountains.

I overheard a man say he bought me from Old Huang for 20 yuan."

As Biyun spoke of her pain, tears streamed down uncontrollably.

She had been married to Daxing for over ten years, spending all those years together, yet he was so heartless and disregarded their entire relationship.

"20 yuan? Daxing is inhuman.

Boohoo… I'm sorry, I just can't help crying when I think about all those years I endured and served them without complaint, giving him children, only to be sold off for 20 yuan… Wahhhh… I… hic, I just need to cry for a bit."

"That bastard. This is too much. I won't let him get away with this." Brian's eyes were full of rage, his fists clenched so tight they cracked.

Freya pried open Brian's clenched fists to stop him from hurting himself. She frowned at the sight of his bleeding palms, took out a special healing ointment from her cloth bag, and applied it for him.

Then she put down the sunflower seeds in her hand and gave his handsome face a light slap as a warning.

Freya continued eating sunflower seeds, staring straight at Biyun who cried for a full ten minutes until her eyes were swollen like walnuts.

Freya couldn't help but sigh. She really could cry. No wonder people say women are made of water.

After the sigh, she placed the remaining sunflower seeds on the table and finally spoke slowly.

"Big sister, what are you planning to do about this?"

"I want a divorce. I want my children back. I want those two to suffer for what they did."

Biyun took the handkerchief Freya handed her and wiped her swollen eyes, then looked up at Brian and Freya with determination.

"But those two villains won't give me the kids.

They plan to sell them off as child brides." Her eyes burned with hatred.

"Everything else is easy to handle, as long as you're truly done with that man and willing to be ruthless.

Leave the rest to us.

Here's a clean set of clothes. Take a bath, don't think too much for now. Eat and get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow, Brian and I will take you to get justice from the Huang family."

Freya was relieved to see that Biyun no longer had feelings for the Huang family. Otherwise, it would've been hard for her to act tough.

"Alright, thank you.

As long as I can get my children back, I don't care about anything else."

Biyun held Freya's hand, deeply moved.

"No need to be polite, we're all family! We'll head out first!" Freya replied, pushing Brian, whose eyes were dark and heavy, out the door.

"Freya's back. Is Biyun alright?" Madam Hua asked anxiously as soon as she saw them come out. Sister Lan had told her Biyun had returned and looked unwell, so she was very worried but hadn't dared interrupt their talk earlier.

"Mom, it's nothing serious. Sis is just changing clothes inside. Let's talk after lunch."

Brian comforted his worried mother. Freya had reminded him to wait until after the meal to talk, so his sister could at least eat in peace first.

"That's good, that's good! That child has had such a hard life." Madam Hua said, already reaching to wipe her eyes. Freya quickly slipped away to get water and wash her hands. She really couldn't handle people crying.

She had grown up used to being tough. Crying didn't solve problems, so she never cried. When others cried, she instinctively felt impatient.

Because of Freya's presence, and the way she held things down, the lunch went smoothly and peacefully. Fang, who usually loved to stir up trouble, was quiet too, aside from throwing Biyun a few secret glares, she ate in silence.

Even the noisy Zheni and Daya didn't say a word and just ate their food obediently, though that might have had something to do with how delicious the meal was.

After lunch, Brian sent the children off to play and had everyone else stay behind.

Brian explained everything to the family.

"That damn Daxing, he's got no morals at all. He looks like a walking corpse and still plays around like he's some hot stuff.

Like a hen trying to fly on the roof, who does he think he is?

Sis, don't worry. I'll get revenge for you. I'll go chop that loser into pieces!" Bigui slammed his hand on the stone table and cursed loudly.

He was practically raised by Biyun, so he naturally felt very protective of her.

"Yeah, Brian, we can't let this slide. Daxing has gone way too far!" Brother Sheng quickly chimed in.

"My poor Biyun has suffered too much. I'm going with you to get justice for you," Madam Hua said, grabbing Biyun's hand. When their eyes met, they both had tears in them again.

"Alright, since everyone agrees we should go get justice, we'll go to Daxing's place early tomorrow morning and catch them in the act.

Fang, aren't you usually the best at making a scene?

Time to put that to use, go all out. Be as loud and crazy as you can. I'll reward you with a big bill afterward." Freya said to Fang.

"Really? You'll give me a big bill?

I'll do a great job then. Causing a ruckus, rolling on the ground, fighting, I'm great at that. Just watch me, sis.

But Freya, you have to keep your word!" Fang, who had been sulking in the corner, suddenly lit up at Freya's words. She jumped up, eyes glowing like Freya was a living money tree.

"I'll keep my word. Here, this two yuan is your deposit. If you get the job done right, you'll get the rest when we're back."

Freya smiled.

"But if you mess up, you won't even get a penny."

She gave an intimidating glance at the overly excited Fang.

"No worries, I'll make sure everyone hears about it.

I'll ruin their reputation so badly they won't be able to show their faces again."

Fang rubbed the two yuan in her hands, nodding repeatedly. She looked like she already had the reward in her pocket.

"Alright, then it's settled. Mom and Dad are too old to go with us.

Brother Sheng and Sister-in-law, you two have a task too. After we catch them in the act and give them a good beating to vent our anger, you two go report Daxing to the police.

This counts as a criminal offense, he'll be in real trouble for this," Brian said to his older brother and his wife.
