Around 8 PM, Freya ran quickly toward the cowshed with empty hands, leaving behind Brian, who stood there in shock.
A space? A place where anything except people can be stored?
Brian remembered how Freya had just taken out an egg out of nowhere in front of him and then made it disappear again, and his mind was once more completely blown.
His wife said she got the storage space after an injury. How could it be this powerful? Was she going to fly to the heavens?
After dropping that huge bomb on Brian, Freya left.
Since she and Brian were husband and wife, and they were together every day, and he was so smart, he was going to find out her secret sooner or later.
So why not just tell him directly?
Now she wouldn't have to sneak around when eating, and Brian could help cover for her. How great was that!
As for whether Brian could accept her having a storage space, or whether he might betray her, Freya never thought about it. She trusted her own judgment and trusted her own ability to get away safely if needed.
Inside the cowshed.
The Lu family members were all stunned for a moment when they saw the energetic and glowing Freya.
"Freya, why did you come here? Hurry and leave! What if someone sees you?"
Madam Wan, always gentle and elegant, now looked completely panicked as she urgently tried to push Freya out.
Freya frowned as she looked at the woman in front of her. Compared to the graceful and beautiful woman in her memory, she seemed like a completely different person now.
It had only been less than a month, but her once fair and delicate hands had lost all their beauty due to hard labor and hunger.
Her palms were full of calluses, her fingers had become rough and stiff, and the back of her hands was dry, thin, and even slightly loose — no longer full and smooth like before.
Her face no longer held its fair and smooth glow. It had darkened from the sun, and with the weight loss, the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes were more visible.
Looking at the others, they were all dressed in tattered clothes, skinny to the bone. The little girl holding a child in her arms had a baby whose cry was so weak it was barely audible.
Damn, the original body owner really screwed them up!
Look at what she did to this whole family!
"Hmph, Mom, don't bother with her! Maybe she's out of money and came to ask you for more.
She already ruined us like this, and now she still has the nerve to come see us?"
Yaran, the younger sister of the twin siblings, gently patted her starving and crying little nephew with a pained expression. She hated Freya deeply and naturally didn't speak politely.
"Yaran, she's your sister. Don't speak like that," Father Lu gently patted Yaran's head, looked at Freya, and sighed helplessly.
He was disappointed in this daughter but also reflected on himself, wondering if he had spoiled her too much and raised her to be naive and willful.
"Freya, listen to us. Please go. We left in a hurry and didn't bring anything with us.
You're married now. You need to grow up and stop being so reckless."
"Girl, Grandpa can't help you anymore in this situation. It's also our fault for not teaching you well.
You... take care of yourself from now on."
Grandpa Lu, who always kept his back straight, now looked hunched over. His wrinkled face showed no blame, only helplessness, as he waved at Freya, telling her to leave.
"Sis, I used to blame you. I was angry that you threw dirt on your own family for a man, and upset that you never came to visit us since we got here.
But now that you've come, I don't hate you anymore. So… you really just came to see us? No other reason?"
Walli looked at Freya with hope in his eyes.
Even though he and Yaran were twins, he had the best relationship with Freya. He hoped his sister had come out of concern, not for anything else.
Freya: "…"
One after another kept talking nonstop. Could they let her get a word in?
Freya wanted to lift her head at a 45-degree angle and take a deep breath of fresh air to calm her irritated mood, but the smell inside the cowshed was just too strong.
She turned around and walked out to get a breath of fresh air.
Then she took out a basket from her space, pulled out some women's personal items, like sanitary pads, and packed them into a bundle before walking back into the cowshed.
Under the shocked gazes of the others, she placed the bundle and basket in front of Walli.
"Don't talk, just listen to me.
The original Freya did make mistakes. She was unforgivable, deserved to be struck by lightning and have her soul destroyed.
But I'm not the same Freya anymore. So, I have no other intentions, I just came to bring you all some warmth.
Here are some boiled eggs and chicken soup. Go ahead and share them among yourselves."
Freya took out a dozen eggs wrapped in cloth and a jar of chicken soup from the basket and handed them to Walli.
"Why are you standing there? Go on, share them with everyone. Chicken soup doesn't taste good once it's cold."
She gave Walli's arm a pat to snap him back to his senses and urged him to distribute the food.
"Sis, how can you say such things about yourself?
And why didn't you keep this food for yourself?
It's already kind of you to come see us. You're married now, bringing so much stuff will only make your husband's family complain."
Walli tried to decline very sensibly.
Freya quickly interrupted as she saw the others about to speak up.
"My man won't say anything. He fully supports me bringing things here.
Don't say anything else. Just eat. Stop dawdling.
If you don't eat, I'll toss it all in the river."
Freya hated excessive politeness and directly threatened them.
"Aiya, you girl, your temper hasn't changed at all. Still so hot-headed when things don't go your way. Looks like you haven't suffered enough.
Give it here, it's the thought that counts."
Grandpa Lu shook his head and smiled helplessly.
When Yaran saw her grandfather accept it, she quickly stepped forward, opened the cloth bundle, took an egg, peeled it, and fed it to her little nephew. Watching him eat happily, she couldn't help but smile too.
"Hmph, don't think just because we ate your food we've forgiven you. This is what you owe us." Yaran pouted, glaring at Freya, speaking fiercely.
"Whatever you want, say what you like.
You can even hang an oil pot on that mouth of yours."
Freya teased as she looked at Yaran's exaggerated pout.
She wasn't thrilled about giving her food away for free.
In the apocalypse, only those who worked for her got to eat.
Her responsibility was to take care of Father Lu, Mother Lu, and maybe Grandpa Lu at most. The rest weren't her concern.
"You..." Yaran quickly shut her mouth.
"Aiya, that's enough, Yaran. You two always bicker when you're together.
Give me LuZhen. You go drink some soup. Freya, you should have some too, eat some meat. I saw you brought a whole chicken."
Madam Wan looked at her two daughters with warmth in her eyes. It hadn't been that long, but it felt like a lifetime ago.
"No need. I had rabbit meat for dinner, not hungry now. You all go ahead and eat."
