ETHAN'S POV
He stood halfway, blinking like he'd seen a ghost.
"Ava?"
"Sit," she said smoothly. "We don't have time."
She slid into the chair across from him, and from where I watched behind a parked car, I saw his hands tremble slightly as he reached for his cup.
"Your father, he didn't say you'd be in Europe."
"He doesn't know. Yet."
"Then what?"
"I'm here because I know what's coming, Javier. The leaks. The cleanup. The trail of funds winding back to your name."
He went pale. Just like I predicted.
"I don't know what"
"I'm offering you a way out," Ava interrupted. "But it requires you to move quickly. I need access to the Zurich vault before the regulators do."
His eyes narrowed. "How do you know about the Zurich vault?"
Ava leaned forward. "Because I helped name it. You think I didn't hear the code 'Z-14' whispered through the vents of his study as a child?"
I could almost hear the thud of Javier's heart.
Then came the real moment.
